I love that Yoel has gotten Eefo to reveal more about himself in two months than the rest of the community has gotten out of him in twelve years.
I hope they become friends irl and can have deeper conversations off camera. It's nice to think the hermits are close off camera, but the evidence suggests otherwise.

I was specifically thinking about Xisuma saying a lot of them don't talk outside of game, and the fact that not many Hermits seem to actually know Etho. I should have been more specific with my wording.
I think it's important for people, especially internet creators, to have strong relationship apart from work so they can work through the things that are none of our business.

Also remember how much this game is part of each of their lives. There's nothing _inherently_ wrong with letting their "work friends" not bleed into their personal lives, though I agree with you that it's really beautiful when it does.
I think VintageBeef knows Etho more than anyone. Probably even has meetings IRL but is a true friend and keeps the secret.

Etho said years ago that his family does beekeeping/runs a greenhouse if I remember correctly, and that he went there to live and help his parents. So it would make sense he lives a little more remotely.
When did he say that?
he said it in one of his LP episodes last year after he went away for a while. the episode he came back he explained that he had to help out a lot more shoveling snow off of the greenhouse because his dad was in bad health or something like that. i don’t remember the episode number or about the time it was released tho, sorry about that

@@dawson8854 went back to look, its from Etho Plays Minecraft - Episode 567: A Tough Situation episode Chapter 2. His mom wasn't doing the best but got better, however his dad passed away from an undisclosed type of brain cancer. So Etho and his other family members had to help manage the situation (end of life insurance policy, financial liquidation / management of resources, etc...)
Its going to take me weeks to process all this new etho information.

I kinda wonder if all the "you're not far off"s were more like Etho just joking around rather then giving actual information, like the beard and microwaved potatoes are probably true but the others were more like a "yeah sure let's go with that" kinda thing. Either way Etho is an interesting man and he's slowly becoming one of my favorite perspectives in any series he's in
I think there's probably more truth in what he shared. I live in the Rocky Mountains which extends far north into Canada and Alaska, so I can imagine the plausibility in a number of things Etho shared.

He's west coast Canada too, I think the community narrowed it down to Alberta? Back in the Team Canada days they complained about timezones, Pause in Manitoba and Beef in Toronto, they said Etho was 2 hours ahead of Beef.

@@StuffandThings_ that's actually not too extreme, I know a lot of people living in rural communities and it's quite common to use firewood to keep warm in the winter.
It's much more reliable than electricity, and you'd be surprised with how much firewood you can split in a few hours

I’ve been watching Etho for over a decade and have always assumed IRL he is a buff ragged mountain man. He occasionally mentioned that he has to dig out snow, mend a building, etc. He used to have real crap internet I remember he would mention that all of the time in his LP episodes. My assumption is that he lives in the middle of nowhere.
All of that to say that this new Etho lore is unsurprising but I enjoy hearing it anyway. I understand why he would want to remain private. 😂
I seem to recall one time a fan asked for him to describe himself in one of his LP episodes (or something of the sort) and he said he was tall and kind of lanky. He also used to help his parents out doing Botany stuff. I wonder if he's a t-shirt and jeans kind of guy or flannel and jeans lol He's just a fascinating guy.

@@eatham. I feel like it's super likely that he's one of the few that meeting wouldn't ruin. He's saved a girl's life after a car wreck, he's repeatedly done very wholesome things off camera and been extremely reluctant to share them in spite of the fact it just makes him look good to do so, and he's been incredibly kind and helpful with everyone he's been seen with so far.
I agree that I hope he doesn't do a face reveal, but it isn't because I don't want to meet my hero, it's because the guy's said before he kinda doesn't want that spotlight. I already worry about the amount of pressure on him as it stands now, I'd hate to see how much that pressure ramps up if he revealed his identity like that. I just hope whatever happens, he gets to take it at his own pace and isn't pressured too heavily regardless of what path he chooses to take.
I hope when Minecraft dies down in 10, 20 or 30 years and he goes into his well deserved retirement, he will just upload a slideshow of his log cabin, his PC setup, his general area. And at the end he turns around and has a kakashi mask on, winks into the camera and - Fin - .
I stand with Etho on microwaved baked potatoes! It's convenient and just as good! Now, the one audio track on the other hand...
The trick is to finish it in the oven on a high heat for about 10mins, gets the nice crispy skin with most of the speed of the microwave method.

It can be a good way to speed up the process. Microwave it long enough to almost cook it then chuck it in the oven for 10mins to crisp it up a bit and finish it off.

i recognized that phone noise IMMEDIATELY when ethos phone went off during this seasons intro. i had a flip phone until probably three years ago (was actually kinda great) and i was just hit with a wave of “oh shit, gotta check my phone” when i heard it.

Eefo lore is crazy
Get your potato, stab it a whole bunch, quite deep, give it a rinse, 10-20 mins in microwave, check and flip it every 5 mins or so by poking a knife in, you want it a bit soft. Not amazing, but it’s still pretty good and food in your belly. Some salt and butter is good enough. Beans and cheese if your feeling fancy

I got to play Minecraft with Etho many, many years ago during the old reddit Minecraft tournament. I don't watch many Minecraft videos these days, but I'll always tune in for new Etho content.
I’ve come to terms that I’ll never just run into a random celebrity when I’m out and about, because nobody is where I’m from. buuuut also being near the Rocky Mountains in Canada, there’s a chance I run into etho! which is better imo
As a Canadian I can attest to wildlife being everywhere I've had a Bear walk through my yard before and a deer give birth in my yard

YOU WANT INSTRUCTIONS? I’ll tell ya it’s real simple.
Ingredients and tools needed: Potato, fork, ziplock bag, bowl, water, microwave.
Step one: wash the potato off.
Step two: take a fork and stab all the sides of the potato. Deep enough but don’t break the poor thing.
Step three: fill the bag with some water, but not to the very top.
Step four: fill the bowl with water and put potato in bag, half close the bag, then put the potato bag in water.
Step five: shove your odd abomination in the microwave and set the time to 3 minutes.
Step six: stab the potato to check if it’s done. If not soft enough shove it back into the microwave and add 1-2 minutes.
Then you can add whatever toppings you like. I enjoy butter if it’s all I’ve got, some shredded cheese, etc.

Sometimes I love that Etho is so mysterious, but sometimes I wish I were a close friend of his just to KNOW what the HECK his situation is.
fun fact about canada (or at least newfoundland): we have moose crossing signs on the highway because they just wander onto the highway so often that it's a genuine problem that drivers need to watch out for
