I mean, he sounds like he belongs in a Western movie to me. 😅 I mean, I'm Australian, so I have a hard time pinpointing where American accents are from, but Scar's assessment sounds right. Also, I was so shocked to learn what Bdubs actually looks like. I had always imagined, I guess, Stinky Pete from Toy Story. 😂😅
Hermitcraft episodes could just be this every single time and I'd be good. Maybe a building timelapse somewhere once and a while but the chatting is what makes it fun for me!
Joel saying his first video was 2007 and then getting called old made me curious, because I graduated in 07 and I remember when youtube got popular in 05/06. My first upload was in 2006, and it was my favorite local band playing a show that I was at the night before my prom lol
It’s crazy that the first video of Minecraft I watched was uploaded to Viddler and linked from the something awful forums, I think? It was an Indev build where the water mechanics didn’t act like they do now and source blocks could generate more source blocks where the water flow terminated so most of the video was the player trying to plug a leak in a mud hut they built. Completely without narrated commentary, just the Minecraft sound track looped. I was hooked at the jump because I had played a lot of that multiplayer LEGO Blockland which, while very different, had similar intrinsic qualities. If I’m honest looking back though; MCs soundtrack is really the glue that actually kept me interested. It gets a lot of praise but it’s still an underrated part of the experience.
I remember the days of the UA-cam time limit! You had to have had an established account to get the ability to upload 15m episodes, and I remember back then thinking, "Who would ever watch a *fifteen minute* YT video?" *Edit:* OMG. Stars. *Edit:* OMG. _Response videos!_ I think we still have that in some form (maybe just for shorts?)
I still regretted that I didn't turn my lost old UA-cam account to Google account in 2010 when they ask to connect your account to Google. Instead I made this new Google account years later in 2012 and lost all of my old playlist lol
Fun fact about me: Pocket Edition was actually where I started playing Minecraft; I didn’t watch any videos. It’s sort of a long story about how I eventually got Minecraft at all, but it involved my cousins and a tremendous uproar from all of us because Pocket Edition was not the app that was SUPPOSED to be downloaded, it was supposed to be a ripoff Minecraft thing, and everyone immediately got jealous
The fact that smallishbeans mentions X just brings me so much joy God that was one of the first series I fell in love with like I saw Minecraft and thought it was dog trash and then like I started watching X and that's what you got me hooked there were several other creators but X was the main one
first mc video i watched was monkeyfarm circa 2010-11? i remember he was in hermitcraft, i found hypnotizd from there and liked his style. i remember on a video of hypno at the server enderman farm someone left a comment talking about mindcrack and that's how i found beef and etho and the rest is history i suppose
Its so funny how Joel and Etho were like "ah yeah I loved getting video responses" and gem is like "i MADE those video responses" like the different youtube generations are insane
I don't remember what the first was but the oldest I remember are Captain Sparklez showing off a flying horse mod. Then Yogscast. Then Super Hostile Legendary runs where I found Guude, BdoubleO and Etho.
My first hermitcraft video is Mumbo. Im not playing minecraft but now i know redstone because of how mumbo explain it interestingly. And i still dont play Minecraft 😅
I think my first Minecraft video was MangaMinx, aka RPGMinx. I'm not even sure why she uploaded it since she was strictly a horror game UA-camr at the time. She was going on about how scary it was but never continued it. Then I started looking around and watching PBat's Movies, Mindcrap by Ramza411, Nakatalilee's three part series, Captain Sparkel's one with the gods, Nanners, The Shadow of Israphel, and finally SSoHPKC, Nova, and Sly's Excommunicated. There was also Two Girls One Minecraft, but I dunno who remembers that.
Etho can't be that old, iirc in one of his videos (maybe its S10 when he's down making Frogger, maybe it's an older video of his lets play when he talks about the Kakashi skin) he says he was in his teens when Naruto came out, and the anime is like 2007. He would be born late-80s which makes him not even 40
he said he got visual basic when he was 8 (in a frogger video), and if he got it before visual basic 4 came out that's only a two year window, and he's late 30s. Speaking as a (fellow?) Elder Millennial, his media references very much line up with that age range.
@@ChillCubitoClipsYeah, I learned Visual Basic in high school in the early aughts. From Etho's video explaining the Frogger backstory, it sound like he's in his late 30s or _possibly_ early 40s.
tl;dr I think he's 36-40, probably 37/38 If that's the clip I'm thinking of, that very much sounded to me like "Etho goofing around" voice. Like the one that made people think a *monty python joke* was his real life - he did not have a sister bitten by a moose, moose attack with their bodies and feet and antlers not teeth, and it's just... I couldn't believe when I saw that on a list of Etho facts. (Like me, he sometimes has too deadpan a sense of humor and people take it as fact.) However, I think it's true, I just don't trust him in LimLife lol. in the hc bit recently about frogger and coding, he sounded quite sincere when he said he got visual basic 3 at 8yo. It came out in summer 1993, visual basic 4 came out in 1995, if he got it before visual basic 4 he's around 36-40. Can't be older than 40 unless that was a weird lie.
dont remember what the first youtube video i ever saw was but i know it was long after i started playing minecraft (i started playing when i was 4 years old in 2014 lol) and the first minecraft youtuber i watched was probably stampy. also i used to only play on Xbox 360 and i saw people playing on their computers and i was so jealous
I honestly can't remember the exact first time I saw minecraft on UA-cam. I actually got minecraft before I had heard that much about it because my brother really wanted to get it and my mom agreed to let him get it if I got it first to check it out. So I got it, played it a bit then pretty much forgot about it until I found out it could be modded (cause vanilla didn't have much at that point) and then I started playing a lot of modded and looked up videos specifically to find mods. I know Yogscast was one of the first channels I remember and so was Captain Sparklez. But I also was really bad with names as it was back then so there were probably others I just had trouble remembering the names of that I did watch a lot. I also don't remember *exactly* when I even got minecraft...
I think weirdly the first Minecraft video I watched was from Joey Graceffa? Back when the walking dead mod was superrrr new. Maybe it was with Shubble?? But I can’t really remember. Then I transitioned to an old SMP HBomb94 was a part of, then chimneyswift and attack of the Bteam with bdubs and then FINALLY hermitcraft in like season 5/6
congrats! and thank you, glad they bring you some joy! (I look at the watch hours on my channel (something like 16 years) and realize this might be my biggest contribution to the world, wild)
Pocket edition now is just the same as bedrock , ita also much better than the old buggy version........also coincidentally the first minecraft youtuber i watched is joel his video got randomly recommended by youtube so i tried to watch it.
The video ended very abruptly that i was co cerned when there was suddenly boykisser on my screen during the video and now i am concerned why it was in my reccomended
My first minecraft videos was actually a modded one from TheAtlanticCraft. Imagine my disappointment when I downloaded he game and it was not the same as what they were doing. Lol.

I love how Gem and Joel jump at the possibility of picking up one of Etho's Generators.
"The Americans are so chill about these things" - Scar. The SARCASM 😂 I love it!
scar calling bdubs a "beautiful midwestern" is so funny to me

Same, idk why but seeing hermits just chat brings me joy
3:06 was not expecting a Freddie Wong/Rocketjump mention. Love rocketjump and Freddie.
9:03 Joels full out cackle of appreciation was fantastic

Oh video responses, I miss them so much they were a lot of fun

My first Minecraft video was a random modded mindcrack video from Etho.

It's funny, but the first UA-cam Minecraft video I watched was Smallishbeans
Etho acts like you need a completely new pc to upgrade to more Ram😂😂
He is still using a 4th gen intel haswell if I recall.
The first UA-camr I saw making Minecraft videos was Direwolf20
I'm not 100% sure where I first saw Minecraft, either I watched my brother play it or maybe Stampy?
i swear joel included the clip of him guessing ethos age in a video but do you know which episode it was in or am i delusional?

I think the first minecraft video i watched was one of achievement hunters series....that feels cursed
I think the pocket editiion youtuber Gem was talking about is JPGaming??

The last few seconds of this clip are wild
My first minecraft videos was actually a modded one from TheAtlanticCraft. Imagine my disappointment when I downloaded he game and it was not the same as what they were doing. Lol.
As someone who just uploaded their first video, I know nothing about this old UA-cam. (Although I have been on UA-cam for a while).
Which stream was this from?
guys scar got sick at 16 and then got jellie who would now be 18 so he is 34ish
I am still on pocket edition
Freddie Wong mentioned on HermitCraft??
More people need to see VGHS
Pretty sure Etho comfirmed he has not made it to 40 yet...
Personally i would put Etho into his late 30s/early 40s. Scar a couple of years younger.
that last comment by scar lmao, do not do that
"it wasn't Dallas?" I'll forever love that Etho knows and recognised Dallas MC work 🥹
