These skits were on when I was in highschool and my two younger siblings were still little. I used to incorporate SNL lines into daily life and it rubbed off on them, much to my mother's chagrin. It became a very common thing in my house to hear my 8 year old brother scream and gesticulate at my mother, "For the love of all things holy, just let the boy have a cookie!" Hilarious. 😂
Farley was just SO goddamned funny, it’s almost inhuman. I don’t care how he died or what he did behind the cameras but in front of them he was an angel here to give us humor and temporarily pull us from our grim lives.
He didn’t get the respect he deserved. It’s sad, really.

Farley was the life of the party. He was the funniest person of all time. Even saying that he is underrated. When he was alive we used to always quote him with my friends and people at school. Farley made everyone happy even young kids.
That song about Chris Farley is just lovely and the best thing about his special.
I LOVED 90s/early 00’s SNL and the Herlihy Boy is totally a deep cut classic. I have no idea how Sandler kept anything close to a straight face. It’s just all so ridiculous 😂 ❤

Spade has that natural 'bitter sarcastic high school girl' lilt to his voice anyhow.
My favorite part abut that sketch is watching Adam Sandler doing his damndest to not crack up.
That's basically the sub plot of every sketch Farley was on. Watching everyone trying so hard not to laugh. I don't think I could've done it. Especially in the Herlihy boy & Matt Foley skits.

Whoa that's crazy! I know his character was Herlihy because that was Sandler's college roommate's last name who went on to co-write a lot of his movies

I think Seth is fantastic with political commentary and interviewing political figures and pundits, but when he interviews actors and singers, his questions suddenly become so amateurishly leading it's as if he's already answering on his guests' behalf. I mean, "Are you happy that Chris Farley is still so loved today?"--how else is Sandler supposed to respond? "No, it's the worst thing ever!"? Open-ended questions aren't that difficult to ask: How do you feel about the response to your song about Farley? Why do you think he still connects with audiences today? Etc. I literally cringe whenever he asks a question with the answer already built into it.
This title sucks. Nothing about the origin of the skit at all. I got excited for a minute to hear where this weird idea came from.

Long been my favorite sketch since it came out back when I was in grade 6. Endlessly quotable and after damn near 30 years I think it's a safe bet that I'll be quoting it for the rest of my life. Somethings just stick with you. Somethings last a long time.

Late night tv is so dead a hack like Seth Meyers has a show. sad
SNL has never made me laugh to the point I pee my pants. Sometimes It would make me chuckle. I've watched old episodes from the 70s, 80s, 90s and current ones and dude there's nothing funny about the show.
It was always hit or miss, but the gems will live forever.
