I wish teachers did these kind of explanations and point out differences between disordes so that the classes will become interesting, and useful! Thanks . I enjoyed your methodology. Congratulations, and thanks a lot! This anxiety chapter is very very important nowadays.

Thanks for clearly and logically breaking this down. I suffer from a few of these for at least the past 20 years. Was given Xanax for Panic Disorder without much guidance from a PCP, it just worked for my acute onsets. Now I'm trying to understand all I can to safely taper and find alternative means of treatment. PTSD, GAD, Social Anxiety, Agoraphobia, and MDD also are part of my profile. Along with Sleep disorders and narcolepsy. All the fun stuff. On fix disability, so not much, just to say Thank You!

There are several tips worth trying
Don't take stimulants such as alcohol and caffeine
      Try to relax
      Do daily exercises
      Join a self-help group
(I read these and more ideas on Trevs panic fixer website )

I appreciate the clear presentation, such a good refresher. As a psychotherapist with a focus on trauma work, I’d highly recommend psychiatrists learning more than CBT. I’ve seen too many referrals recommending CBT treating certain symptoms when cognitive intervention is not enough, yet the prestige held by a psychiatrist could create barriers for clients/patients to buy in other modalities that could be much better fit for treatment.

Anxiety disorders are a cluster of mental disorders characterized by significant and uncontrollable feelings of anxiety and fear, such that a person's social, occupational, and personal function are significantly impaired.
Anxiety is a worry about future events, while fear is a reaction to current events.
Anxiety may cause physical and cognitive symptoms, such as restlessness, irritability, easy fatigability, difficulty concentrating, increased heart rate, chest pain, abdominal pain, and many others.
In casual discourse, the words "anxiety" and "fear" are often used interchangeably; in clinical usage, they have distinct meanings: "anxiety" is defined as an unpleasant emotional state, for which the cause is either not readily identified, or perceived to be uncontrollable or unavoidable, whereas "fear" is an emotional and physiological response to a recognized external threat.
The umbrella term "anxiety disorder" refers to a number of specific disorders that include fears (phobias) or anxiety symptoms.

Mood or/ and behavioural changes that occur within 3 months for specific stress. And is significant. Doesn’t last more than 6 months once stress or it’s consequences resolved. It doesn’t mean adjustment disorder last less then 6months. In contrast, adjustment disorder can become chronic and last longer then 6 months if stressor still exist or ways of adaption is not developed.

    Thank you for amazing lecture
Can you please clarify this for me, you said GAD symptoms are not associated with any person or event, In adjustment D/o there must be a trigger, isn't that trigger a specific event that triggers symptoms in GAD..? please clarify

    • @MaddieFishblob
      @MaddieFishblob Рік тому +1

Well technically GAD anxiety is also spurred on by triggering events. What GAD and adjustment have in common is that the anxiety is in response to general life events - divorce, a stressful exam, issues with friends, etc. - things anyone would be distressed by, just in a more intense form.
The other disorders on the other hand are more niche when it comes to what triggers the anxiety, like agoraphobia for example (not _all_ people are distressed by going outside - just those with the disorder).
Anyway idk if this helps because it’s been 11 mo. since you asked the question 😆 but 🤷‍♀️ if it does then cool
