George Howard.. I miss his music so much. This is one of my favorites from him! RIP I miss your musical voice so much! A man who could sing and play the sax?? A major threat.
Philly homeboy George Howard will long be remembered for his singular sound. Truly, the music world lost a great one with his untimely passing. RIP George. Gone, but not forgotten. Never forgotten.
The "Love and Understanding" album contained so many beautiful tunes: this memorable one (the title track); his understated renditions of "Baby Come to Me" and "Everything I Miss at Home" (not to mention the buoyant "Hopscotch" and the wistful "Only Here For A Minute"). George Howard's music was something on which you could rely. It was a sense that his music was always there. It was difficult to fathom music without his sterling contributions after he transitioned. I had the opportunity to see him perform at a Jazz festival once and in a cozy setting of a jazz club back during the latter 1980s and early 1990s, respectively. He sounded even better in person! Blessed to have had a chance to see him perform live. We don't always get to see our favorite artists in that type of setting. He is truly missed and appreciated and had the type of individuality in his playing that you don't hear often. God bless his family. Thank you all and God bless!
A true classic memories of the good ole fine days of soft rock 96.9fm radio of Chuck town when they used to play smooth jazz on the weekends. Too bad them days are long gone. R.I.P. my brother.
listening to this song right now as we speak. (4/24/11). on compact disc of course. listening to everything I have by him in his honour. and @kolossol1 I feel you. this song is literately bout to bring me to tears right now. may god rest his soul.
Ahhhh.......... man we use to have a awesom radio station in San Francisco ,it was called KKSF and THEY PLAYED THE BESTJAZZ OF THAT TIME AND GEORGE HOWARD WAS AT THE TOP...............GREAT MEMORIES............................YEA.
We certainly did! Nice to hear that "Shout Out" to KKSF! It really was a wonderful station with a crew of great, knowledgeable announcers. I often wonder where many of them are now? I trust that they're well. As you aptly said, KKSF played George Howard's music frequently. Thanks so much for sharing...so nice to hear about the Bay Area!😀 God bless you, the beautiful musical legacy of George Howard, and all!🎼🎵🎶
