I was in high school when he was hot, I was still a Sanborn, Kenny, Charlie, and John guy but had NO idea we lost George Howard so long ago until yesterday. I can listen to this song and visualize road trips with mom, Dad getting ready for a barbecue, family reunion card games. Never be alone!
I dont think this generation can really know how much this man meant to us. RIP George Howard. You got me through many times I was going through when I was in the service back in the late 1980's to 1990's. The saying is..."the good die young.." RIP George.
Beautifully said and I agree wholeheartedly! Just treasures! I'm grateful that we could experience their art and hopefully, new generations will seek out such excellent and iconic artists! Blessings to you and all!😇🎼🎵🎶
I first became aware of George Howard in the very early 80's and was totally blown away !!! If you think about it, he was a true pioneer in the Smooth Jazz field ... utilizing many RnB songs and smoothing them out like we had never experienced before that on a regular basis also employing vocals which today we would label Neo-Jazz. Yes, we MUST applaud his foresight into the newly created genre of the time which was (and still is) what we embrace to this very day. R.I.P. George, you are missed
This man was and still is a master saxophonist of the smooth jazz genre. I love this brother and his music, all of it. My only regret is that I did not get the chance to see and here him live in concert here in Norfolk VA. However, George Howard, I will meet You with our FATHER in Heaven.Rest on my brother.
My part is that funky, "funky,: OH NO, refrain, love it when he cross the bridge, and how he builds up to it! he was butter on that fish hook, can't believe he's gone, same with Art Porter & Grover! So glad he left behind some love we can all share!!!
One Of My Good Friends Had Just Brought A Cadillac Seville, And I Was Riding In It With Him One Day, And He Popped This Tune In, I Have Loved This Song Ever Since. To My Brother/Friend In Heaven,,, Thank You George Edwards!!!!
Oh wow. This song brings so many good memories. My father just brought a brand new Mercedes Benz.. and when we drove it off the lot.. he turned the radio on.. and this song was playing. He turned it up.. step on the GAS… and off we went !! 🥲🥲🥲🥲🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🙏🙏

I'm a true George Howard fan, got all of his stuff on either CD or lp, one of the greatest sax players of the modern era, truly missed by all who had the privilege of seeing him perform live and on wax, rip brother.
I was in the eight grade when I fell in LOVE with the sax. When I heard George or Grover I was mesmerized! I was saddened to hear that he passed. He and Grover both left us to soon but they both left the world great treasures. RIP you're truly missed but your music will LIVE forever!

It's April 2024 and I still love this Jazz Saxophonist! George Howard wraps you up in love with this iconic jazzy instrumental song! Love it so much! ❤️🎶🎷🎶 🎷❤️
Wow!!! What a blast from my (our) past. Thanks for sharing. Back in '85 all was well a new marriage, new children and at the time D.C. was the place where I (we) made a lot of cash & made friends from all over in every language. And now we want to blow each other away. Rest on bro' I never will forget.
i began listening to George Howard when I was 16 after a very special friend of the family passed. It helped me make it through those times I'm now 46 and I still enjoy No No it's very soothing.
I miss the smooth sounds of George. I would have loved to hear Grover, David, Herbie, Ronnie, George, Stanley and so many more all just on the set at the same time jammin
Gallys: I surely agree with you! I love this song from his "Nice Place to Be" album...so playful sonically yet with heartfelt lyrics! Saxophone titan Walter Beasley does a wonderful rendition of it on his latest offering "Going Home." I know that it sounds cliché but we know that no one sounded like George Howard--not then and not today! He really created and maintained his own sonic lane on soprano saxophone. It's truly heartbreaking that Art Porter (1996); underrated guitarist Zachary Breaux (1997); George Howard (1998), and Grover Washington Jr.(1999), each passed away in consecutive years--as aforementioned! Each was still quite young (Porter, 35 years old); Breaux (36 yrs.old); Howard (41 yrs old); and Washington (56 yrs old). Grover Washington Jr. and George Howard left a wealth of melodic musical material, while Porter and Breaux each did four great albums apiece. Though grateful for each wonderful musician's tremendous accomplishments, We can't help but wonder how their careers would be today as the industry (with social media, etc) has shifted musical gears significantly! I'm sure that George Howard and his peers and predecessors still would be thriving! It's just fascinating to me how the industry was different while they were here--as if they were in a time capsule. I'm happy that we still have their music. I just hope that their legacy always will be remembered and maintained as they were priceless architects of the genre specifically, and in music generally! Thank you and God bless! They all mean a lot to us all! 🎼🎵🎶
And Gallys, that would be some kind of Soundstage, as you said, to have all of those masters on one platform at the same time! Wow!..If only!! Thanks again and God bless!😇🎼🎵🎶
One of the my favourite music memories ever was catching GH in '86 at an outdoor JUly concert in Detroit playing this song on a stage with thousands dancing on the field grounds..then the thunderstorms exploded but George manages to finish the song before the concert is finally cancelled due to weather....it was a magical moment!
Anyone who would make it known that they dislike this song ... something is wrong with THEM. Rest in peace, George. I so miss you, dear brother. Your spirit and your music lives on.
This is a great tribute to the late, great George Howard. He was and still is my favorite smooth jazz artist of all-time! I have every one of his recordings on vinyl and cd. May he continue to rest in peace.
