  • So I gave this 1968 Super Reverb some upgrades. New F&T Filter Caps and cathode caps. Screen grid resistors, new cap for the bias circuit and a new power cord. this amp was completely original and I think had been in storage for about 30 years so it was pretty grimy and dirty inside but the circuit and amplifier chassis was very clean and in pristine condition. Hope you enjoy the sound demo. Please subscribe and have a great day.

@@roncarter2188 I bought one a few years ago. Did one gig with it and traded it soon after for practical reasons. Weight and volume specifically! I recently bought a used Tomemaster version and I really like it. Solves a lot of problems and you still get 4 Alnico Jensens pushing air which adds to the realism enough so to make it work (for me).

I received a 1968 Super Reverb for my eighth birthday (had been playing guitar for three years) and you don’t even want to know just how many times that I have regretted ever selling it throughout the years…

That’s why I try to never sell my gear anymore. Even if I’m not using it at the moment! I regret selling the few I have sold in the past.

@guitarreromxl74 I think just about everyone has that piece of gear whether a guitar or amp that got away or was sold and then you just kick yourself!

@@roncarter2188 Ha ha ha, "You are only as old as you feel" only flies so far!
I also feel old, I'm still jamming on the very same Twin Reverb I purchased new back in 1976! I remember when used Marshall Majors and '50s Les Paul guitars could be purchased dirt cheap..................if only I'd known then what we all know now.

@hkguitar1984 That's funny talking about the prices of old Marshall amps. I'm lucky to have a 1978 jmp mk2 50 watt and a 1973 Super Bass jmp 100 watt. I call them my babies....but not around the wife 😅🤣 Take care my friend

If it makes you feel better about yourself to dog on others, you have some serious issues! One of the best amp builders that I have ever known (and I’ve known a lot throughout my career) could barely play a note on guitar, but he had a damn good ear for tone. If you’ve actually been around for more than a minute, you have heard his amps on some of the biggest hits ever written. Grow up!

Typical with these amps, the vibrato channel gets used the most then when you go to use the normal channel it acts up.

@roncarter2188 fender was notorious for using whatever parts they had on hand at the time. I have a 1969 bassman cabinet with one speaker from January of 1968 and the other from Feb of 1969
