I run mine bass 2 to 4 middle about 8 treble 8 bright off volume 2 to 5 with reverb about 2 to 4 . I only usually change it for minor tone changes between different guitars. Usually Gibson les Paul’s.
Hey Jack. What kind of mics are you using for the super? I've had mine for a year and I'm getting amazing tones both over driven and clean in the room. Yet for some reason when I actually mic it up the clean tones sound great, but the overdrive stuff starts to sound completely crap. No idea.
Great video. I have the opportunity to jump in a 66 SR. One speaker is bad so I’m ordering a pair of Jensen P10Rs rather than find an original. The amp hasn’t had an easy life but it’s a personal amp from my amp tech so I know it’ll be dependable. Love your videos Jack. Straight to the point with great playing. Cheers!
Great review, Jack! Thank You, bro! Jazz part cried for a little notch on a treble knob. If you try an attenuator you might get a ton of vintage sounds, including Hendrixish drive+wah, fuzz and drive of acid rock, etc.
At 4:26, it's a pure dream, the best sound i've ear, it's a piece ef paradise!! I'am waiting for a 1974 Vibrolux reverb, and can't wait to plug my epiphone DOT with classic 57 puos in it.. Always a pleasure to listen your playing Jack. And sorry for my english, i am freanch from Québec.
I just should have bought this amp right from the go and saved myself a lot of mucking around with other amps. Great clean. Great with pedals. The classic Fender blackface.
My local pawn shop just got in a bunch of awesome Fender amps all around $900AUD. Amps are mostly in good condition. HRD Ltd Edition "Wine Red" (reverb nonfunctional) HR Deville (pristine condition) Super Reverb reissue (pristine) Sliverface Twin reissue (as new, footswitch included). Blues Jnr IV ($600) And just to spice it up: Laney VC30 (MIC, $550). I already have a tweed Blues jnr and a great clone of a VC30. Tempted by the HRD Wine Red but it isn't in great condition. Deville, Super, and Twin too loud for my needs but after watching this, I'd take the Super if I didn't have neighbors.
Hi Jack, I just wanted to say this was an awesome video. I’ve always wanted a 65 reissue fender, super reverb and I pulled the trigger on it today after seeing your video is very inspiring and maybe after thousands of hours I can sound as good as you do on it but thanks for the confidence to buy this amp Best regards, Tom
My first electric rig was a '66 Super and an '86 American Telecaster I bought right after going to the theater and seeing "Crossroads" w/ Ralph Macchio and Joe Seneca. I still play a Tele through a 410 to this day.
With all due respect ... All you folks who love the Super Reverb tones should be picketing Fender to rebuild a handwired version at a price each of you can afford. And actually, there are a LOT of used handwired SR's out there that are reasonably priced, to be honest. These re-issues will not last and amp techs hate working on that kind of stuff. When I was just a kid of 17, I took the responsibility of paying on a new 1964 SR, until I got it paid off. I went into dive bars and played five hours a night, for $10 each night, Fridays and Saturdays, for six weeks, just to pay off the downpayment that I charged. If you want a good amp, there are ways to get it!
Fender is releasing a solid state super reverb in August. That should be able to get you good home playing. Or just put a tube screamer or boss blues driver in front of a tube super reverb and just a tinch of gain and you'll do good

Vibrato channel (12ax7 pulled from normal channel). Sixes across the tone knobs. Bright off. Reverb 2.5-3. Volume 2.5. Vibrato off.
Done.

Mine is a 1969 silver face.

The SRV licks were (inhales) amazing.
I love the dramatic depiction. I could really feel the delivery.
These descriptions are things i hate. Dont know why, they are kinda like flattery.
Hey Jack... awesome tones and tips.. especially that jazz tone tip... that sounded so beautiful!!!!
That clean tone was incredible, excellent playing Jack!
Thank you!

Thank you kindly! 74 Vibrolux is an excellent amp. Greetings from Maine!
I have a champ 25se and ive seen it described as a mini twin and I tend to agree, can't wait to try some of these
Just got my SR last week. Went from a FM100 head/cab so it’s like starting over finding my sound. Great vid and tips here. 🎸👍🏻
Awesome, glad it was helpful!
I just should have bought this amp right from the go and saved myself a lot of mucking around with other amps. Great clean. Great with pedals. The classic Fender blackface.
If I could only keep one amp I’m about 98% sure it would be my Super.

I mean, if you're asking me, you KNOW I'm going to tell you that you need it and should get it. I'm an enabler, through and through. :-D
@@JackFossett Yeah you'll get me on the hard stuff. I know it ;)
Nurse!! Nurse!! Help!!

Great to hear!
Your tones and playing are amazing.
thanks Jack, this was awesome! gave me an excellent platform to start with on a new deluxe R i have
Awesome! Hope I didn't lead you astray ~
Great stuff. Great amp. Great settings👍😎
👍😎❤🖖
Love brother
Thanks for listening!
I’m going to have to put a little more stress on the amp and use my 8 ohm captor when I get mine, just so I can get the master up a bit more.
so warm
What’s it like for home use? I’ve not got neighbours close by but I’m fond of my hearing and don’t fancy tinnitus 😂

I LOVE that movie. That scene where he “plays” Ry Cooder Feelin Bad Blues hits me right where I live.
Jack has so much restraint in getting those perfect tones. I guess when you can play that fluently, such options are open . . .

Excellent!
Jack... Can a super reverb be used in a room to practice? Thanks!!!
What a BEAUTIFUL es, especially top grain. What model/year/color is it?
Thanks for video, very bb-like tones
Hi Jack, I was wondering how well does the super reverb take fuzz pedals? Great video as always!
I have a 78 super reverb, in my experience it takes them pretty well. I use an EHX Big Muff Pi and clean it up with a TS9 and it sounds really good.
after i wachin all fsr am going to have one soon tanx great sound great play no buzz no ham r yuou using any pedal forit tanx
At what vol does it naturally breaksup
Loud.
Hi! there is any way to have this amp and home and still sound good? like TV volume? THanks
I think it sounds fine at home. Clean its beautiful at just about any volume. You won't come close to driving it on its own though.

I got a 68.... i just dime all the eqs 😂
Rip your and your neighbors ears
Five terrific reasons why I love Fender Amp tones! Thanks, Jack.
Jack do you have an old super reverb also
Just the reissue, theres a 65 for sale near me for $2k but I just can't justify buying it right now
