- Aged 17, Liam Garner started his trip on the coast of the Arctic Ocean in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska and cycled the Pan-American highway.
Liam cycled 20,000 miles (32,186km), 14 countries and 527 days by himself and said he almost didn't make it.

I don't think anybody can do it. It is not just about strength/stamina. One needs a personality that attracts people who would help him more than people who would harm him and also awareness of danger. He is an adventurer.
Also gotta have money to do it that's for sure

Wow! what a wonderful trip! I am from Argentina, and the furthest south I've been to so far is Peninsula Valdez, mid Patagonia on the Atlantic.
Bicycles are healthy exercise and fossil fuels free transportation.
Cities need to do more to encourage people to ride bicycles. Safe protected bike lanes and trails are needed so adults and children can ride safely. Speak up for bicycles in your community. Bicycles make life and cities better. Ask your local transportation planner and elected officials to support more protected bike lanes and trails. Children should be riding a bicycle to school and not be driven in a minivan.

if it were 'just' the enormous distance with all its different landscapes and their challenges then it might be an adventure worth taking on. unfortunately, the real dangers are in many of those 14 countries he crossed. corrupt officials at the borders or in between, swathes of lawless countrysides, drug cartels controlling the streets, robbers and trigger-happy people all around. the only parts I would have felt halfway comfortable with is Canada and Argentina (not sure if Argentina is actually safer than the US)
