He is very handsome in an unusual way. Everything about him is unusual, including the way he expresses his ideas. He comes across as intelligent and sincere. I never understand why the press give him such a hard time.

It’s crazy to think that Nic Cage has been acting long enough to be on the Dick Cavett Show. Almost like two distinct eras of pop culture time traveling to meet each other.

Cage is one of our most important and gifted actors. He may love his craft more than any other star in Hollywood history. He continued to work even when he wasn't getting offered A-list projects very often, and now we are seeing him enjoying an extraordinary renaissance. He's four decades into his career now, and I think he will continue to achieve greatness for many years to come.

He's far more interesting, unpredictable, engaging then the bland matinee A list guys. It's almost as if the studios want bland because it's safe. He also has an endearing sweetness for a guy which is such a relief from Eastwood, Wayne bad ass which American guys idolize and I can't stand, though I'm a guy.

Thank you for saying this. He is just sublime. He did a lot of not so good movies to pay for millions of debts to the IRS. He only fully paid all debts with money from The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. He said in an interview he can afford to be selective now with his roles.

My boyfriend at the time went and got his autograph for me. He waved and I LITERALLY couldn’t breathe. I also saw him coming out of his apartment when my best friend and I went looking at stars homes. We followed/ chased him and got next to him and SCREAMED and he took off thru a red light to get away. Man....we were OVER the moon.

Not only did he discover Depp, but as Depp recounted when he was on the Actors Studio years ago, he was the one who encouraged Depp to pursue acting.

He would tell me to mind my own business, but I hate the fact that he wasn't able to have a better movie career than what he has had. I loved him in Raising Arizona though and in Con Air and in Leaving Las Vegas (I think it was called). Hmm, that's a pretty good list. Maybe it was a better career than I what I thought. I don't know.

Mr. Cavett conducted some pretty cringy interviews towards the end. I prefer the shows from his early years

Makes since being a different generation that he was interviewing. I wonder if he frowned upon the last generation that he had to interview. Maybe it was more work, less enjoyable. I would sure rather conversate with the older generations that he worked with. But who knows. Just a theory.

This is the worst Cavett interview I've ever seen. His questions were disjointed and bizarre. Then he insulted his guest's looks. WTF Cavett?

That movie was meant to be intentionally comedic, the audience took it the wrong way and thought it was meant to be serious.
Nic Cage has even said this himself
