  • Alex Lacamoire, a gifted musical director, arranger, supervisor, and composer prefers to be behind the scenes. Whether in the orchestra pit or recording studio, Lacamoire has shaped the transformative music of Hamilton to In the Heights and was, most recently, at The Oscars, as he also creates music for films, like The Greatest Showman. Catie Lazarus asked The Employee of the Month if he might do something fun during their interview. Having just seen his idol Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden, Lacamoire played a Billy Joel medley and sang on Slate Live presents Employee of the Month. Alex Lacamoire was joined by Rob Jost (Dear Evan Hansen), Chris "Shockwave" Sullivan (Freestyle Love Supreme) and Andrew "Jelly D." Bancroft (Freestyle Love Supreme), who are all part of Employee of the Month's House band. Our next live taping is April 7th at Abrons Arts Center. Can we get Alex to join again?

What does he mean he's not a singer? He is absolutely a singer!
I mean, he's a better pianist than he is a singer, but I honestly think that's only because he's invested time in developing his piano skills and he hasn't spent time developing his voice.

Way to go, Alex. You’re singing has come a long way since the Lee Pitman days. But your piano playing is as amazing as ever!!
