What I love about his performance here is that he doesn't stick out like a sore thumb which tends to happen when famous musicians appear in films as characters. He blends well with the environment and the other soldiers! It's not like "ah look at me i'm a famous person in this film aha". This also has to be credited to Nolan's directing of course
Before i watched dunkirk i sort of knew who harry styles is, i still do now but I knew what he looked like. I never realised that he was in the movie until now lol, that's how good he was.
That’s the good thing about Nolan films. The actors become the characters. The only one where I thought the actor was a bit too big for the film was Leo in Inception!

He's not that great yet, considering that this is his first acting role, he's just an ok actor so far. Nothing so remarkable about his performance here. A great actor in this movie is like Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance these are true great actors in the movie looking at their past experience too, Harry is nowhere near their level yet, I will give him another chance since this is a decent start for him in acting

4:13 that short moment is when I really noticed how good of an actor he is
When I first saw this movie I knew nothing about Harry. I remember I absolutely hated this character. Watched it again after I became a massive Harry fan, and only now I realized how good actor he actually is: he could not be any further from this character in real life. Everything you see in this film is like a total opposite of who he really is - he is not portraing himself or even acting like he is acting, if you know what I mean. When I did not know who he was I just thought that he is an arrogant a*hole teen-popstar with a persona like this. That's how good he is.
I really think he is going to have amazing career in acting.

I really liked this movie. I wish it was longer. I like that they’re wasn’t a lot of lines in it because it gave the perspective of silence and tension. 10/10 recommended
I appreciate that but the real Dunkirk was way more louder and I think they should have used the loudness instead of just making it so silent

Lmao I watched it for harry only, but stayed for other actors as well. I couldn't quite grasp the context for majority of the movie becuase English is not my first language, and I watched it without subtitles. Imagine how I felt when harry was there only for 5 minutes! 😭

for context, i watched this in the cinemas when it came out and didnt understand it and i didnt know who was in it coz i was like rlly young and my cousins made me watch it with them and i didnt know who harry styles was at the time.

I remember i had this film in my "to-watch list" when i didn't know who Harry Styles was. Years later i actually watched it because Harry was in it. He just got less than 6 minutes of screentime, but he did a great job potraying his character. And on a side note, this film itself is amazing. I love the directing style, the plot, the characters, and the unique way of delivering the messages. One of a kind!

@Tommo 28 He’s British, not American. So he swears, he doesn’t curse. Also, if you watch videos of him, he actually does swear quite a bit, he just doesn’t do it as much as e.g Louis (I used him as an example seen as your name relates to him) 😂✌🏼

Dude i gotta admit, Harry is one hell of an actor. Dude should really get into acting in war and action films more.
You have to give Harry credit, he expresses his desire to escape Dunkirk like everyone else, his anger towards Gibson when he revealed himself to be French, but when under fire, he was willing to toss him off the boat.
When on the train, he expresses his thoughts on how they would be mocked by the public for their failure in France, only for the public to greet them with a hero’s welcome.
Harry is a great actor, he’s a good singer and his part in Dunkirk is great. He also plays the part as a WWII soldier looking for a ship heading for England.

The scene with his anger towards Gibson was my favorite!! He did a PHENOMENAL job!! I didn’t even realize he was in this when i saved this to my watch list until my best friend who’s a huge fan told me.
1:30 - 1:50 was some of the best acting i have ever seen. it was so amazing and he is so beautiful. ugh i am so proud of him

I love his character because he's very real. Only a few people can be honourable in those moments, and not all honourable gestures get you home alive.

director did such a good job on making him blend in, i was focused on him most of the movie and i still caught myself missing him in certain cut scenes. that's a big accomplishment considering i was only trying to focus on character.
