idk about the 2020 R1, but I have a 2019 R6 and it definitely gets the speedometer reading from the front wheel sensor. If you unplug the front wheel speed sensor that's under the gas tank I'd be willing to bet you get a reading of 0 mph on your speedo. I'd be really surprised if Yamaha designed them differently.
Love your vids man!! I as well have a r1 and since the speed sensor is on the rear wheel the sprocket changes dont matter. Your speed should be correct. Mine matches gps speed. Taller profile tire on the other hand will!! Ride safe!
Long ago in middle school I watched you and Do it with Dan. Years later I'm almost 19 years old and on my 3rd bike. 07 gsxr 600. Thx to your videos I found my hobby.
Yo it’s so weird watching your vids bc I live in the same city that you do and seeing you ride on the roads and know exactly where you’re going is just weird lol
I was under the impression that the R1 speed is determined by the wheel sensors. That is the general consensus on the R1 forums. www.r1-forum.com/threads/question-on-gearing-and-speedo.568650/
Great video. I've honestly never thought about a chain and sprocket upgrade for my 2018 Daytona 675R. I love the linear power throughout. Plus aside from trips into the mountains of northern GA it only sees daily city riding around Atlanta.
My bike is belt driven and it rides really good! And you don't have to lube a chain every 300-500 miles! You just have to replace the belt every 12 thousand miles and check the transmission fluid.Today it was a cool day.In L.A. and it rained a little bit.Hooah!\m/\m/
I did the same change to my 15 R1 , up 2 on the rear sprocket !! It made the bike more Usable and Fun !! I'm in agreement !!!!!!!! Be safe Bro and Merry Christmas !!!
Great video. Just looking roughly at your old videos.. you were doing 100mph at the top end of second, and now you need to be in third to hit 100. Perhaps you could go back and check more accurately, and see if the Speedo is aligned with wheel speed or not? Would be worth a look 👍🏽
Thats cuz he has more acceleration then topspeed....the r1 is designed for top speed....when you go up teeth in the back its more torque.....if his r1 vs the r1 with the sprocket change....the sprocket change will def walk the stock r1
You have a tune on the bike at this point ? My 2016 R1 has the 520 pitch and gold chain. I have amazing acceleration I'm all gears. 80 to 160 is lightening. 160-185 is still extremely fast. This tuned or factory ECU?
If you're racing lightness is good. But I'd say a bike like this is fast enough where you'd be better off with the longevity of a stock style sprocket and chain set up, you can still change your tooth count but those super light chain and sprockets is like 5k miles to 20k miles and as someone with 4 bikes who rides 20k plus miles a year, saving the money and time is huge
Chris, you’re a better man me. That guy that was in your face would’ve got some three stooges type defensive eye pokes and what not. Also, thanks for the quick turn around on my R6’s ECU.
I cant wait for my bike to be done. I just put a chain and sprocket kit on it (-1 +2), with a full titanium graves exhaust system, surface discharge plugs, block off plates, velocity stacks, and a sprint P-08 air filter. The bike will be flashed soon and if that isnt enough then i may have to dyno it to get it to run properly, but im super excited about it Edit: My R1 is a 2016
I just changed my sprockets and I did 2 up on the rear and left the front as is. I have a 2019 r6 and boy let me tell you. It feels faster for sure 🙌🏻😎 thanks for the tip tho.
Man would be funny to do one series whit the cheapes ( but not bad) modifications on the market, like trying to search good deals or good products cheap in aliexpres etc 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Miss riding so much but lately there's been so many guys lost here it makes me not wanna get back into it, and it's not even cause I doubt myself it's others
Hey, could you tell me what chain lube are you using ? I'm currently using Ipone lube which is sold as a splash-free lube but I have tons of lube on my wheel and on my fender... So I'm looking for another lube. Thanks !
The first mod I had to do on my EBR was swap the rear sprocket for one with 2 fewer teeth. The stock gearing is for the track and made street riding unbearable!
Nope. Quick shifter. He only needs the clutch in first gear. You can also clutchless up shift even if you don’t have a QS by closing the throttle and shifting up (don’t touch the clutch) then reengaging the throttle.
I do 1 tooth down on the front only and my bike rides amazing now power wheelies easier , acceleration is faster it's the best mode u can probably to do if u like wheelies and hauling ass qk🤘
@yzf.r1 nick I can't wait for the ECU flash to be available. I have a 2016 model and I really want the new 2020 r1 but it feels like downgrading to a 600cc with stock ECU in lower RPMs.
@@MADLITS1K The 2020 model got some nice refinements to electronics and suspension and a bit more powerful engine so it's sharper machine overall. But sadly ECU flash is not available yet for 2020 model so ECU flashed 2015 plus model is much more powerful because it doesn't have the factory restrictions especially in early torque and HP delivery.
My girlfriend: if you go up in the rear I’ll marry you Me: motonisity said to check how many teeth you have first....sorry, lose the two front teeth and I’ll reconsider
I would not call this a performance mod. There is a give and a take. And now highway riding will be a higher rpm in 6th. Just doesn’t work with my kind of riding
Time to replace with some black levers to the R1, Motonosity
I'm fairly certain that the 2015+ gen R1 does go off the wheel speed sensor... I'm like 99% sure.
Definitely your right thats how the traction control n slide control function of wheelspeed sensors
Yup the 2015+ 100% goes off the wheel speed sensors. There is no sensor on the front sprocket. His gauge is accurate.
@@LS1able I though it used the 6-axis IMU for slide control? Or is that just the lean-angle ABS?
-1 front is equivalent to +2.66 teeth in the rear. So if you want slightly more acceleration than what a +2 rear provides, do the -1 front.
Merry Christmas to Brent and the entire Klauck family. I've enjoyed the 2020 series of videos from this channel.

Once you flash and tune it, you'll get what you were looking for. 60-130 is close to 5.4 stock. Flashed goes to about 4.1

What if you wrap the exhaust with some black thermal tape to hide some of the metal?
supersprox arnt light and actually there heavier then most performance sprockets. I've done the comparison when I bought one.

I think the speedo doesn't change on the 2020 R1 as it has a rear wheel speed sensor. Am I right??
You should get an easy pull clutch lever
Which bike do u prefer the SR1000RR or the R1
Did the chain swap make it as fast as the s1000rr on acceleration?

Is there any speedometer miscompare by changing the sprocket size or does the sensor run off the front wheel?

Wont the 5 dollars eventually pay for the bike? Not technically giving it away
I’m curious how do you correct the speedometer?
Hey man I wanted to ask you if any company has broken into the 2020 r1 ecu yet?
Is the chain black?
What do you think of daily an r1
Well they have wheel speed sensors.. wouldn't make sense if the speed wasn't determined by them lol (coming from a 2019 r1)
I just went-1 +2 on my cbr600rr Holy shit did it make it way more fun! Max mph is like 145 now. 12oclocklabs for the speedo healer.

It needs a flash. That’s why it’s losing speed on top. Just like s1k had horrible midrange. It’s hard to compare until it’s flashed.

+2 in the rear is about 50% less durastic as -1 in the front. +2 probably would be better
