They make little documentaries about these things or just tell us on Weverse live's. They are the most open artists who share things with their fandom that I've ever come across.
J Cole has been an inspiration to BTS members from the beginning. J-Hope named his first mixtape Hope World as a homage to J Cole. BTS also took inspiration from J Cole's Born Sinner to create a version that tells their story in their song Born Singer. The live version of BTS' Born Singer with a live band is amazing to listen to.
Also J Hope has a solo version of this song on his new album. He released the collab version with J Cole a year ago as a final song for fans before he started his mandatory military service. (Currently all BTS members are serving in military for a period that lasts 18+ months. Jin who was the first to enter in Dec 2022 will be out in 2 months exactly!! With hopefully a new album to follow later this year!!)

you should see his solo Concert at Lollapalooza Chicago USA I watched it on the live stream but it's all on their official channel. I went to see the his band mate Suga(aka Agust D)'s Rapper composer producer and musician same as J Hope and RM last concert before military duty at the cinema last night it's avial on Saturday at Cinema's as well. I saw one of the his USA concerts as well. The 3 of them are amazing Rappers. They've introduced a lot of people to the genre. They are from South Korea and are part of the biggest Global Group BTS who are the only group on the list of Top 10 Global artists. I Saw them on the second night of their sold out 2 concerts at Wembley stadium.
