Yup I am having the same issue

So I have figured it out now. You do regular rush and then character switch panel (R3 + L3) then you hold the R3 in the left direction, the tagged character will then smash as they switch in. I have just tested and it seems to be the intended way to do it. It has worked for me every single time so far. Also do not mash character panel after the rush combo, there is a very slight delay after the rush combo.

Yoo! I finally figured it out, bro! After you do your rush attack (doesn't matter if you send them flying or not), quickly switch, then you have to press attack again so that the tagged in fighter will continue hitting him. Try it out!

All you have to do is press left(first), THEN hold square, and it does it every time. Crazy how the tutorial doesn't explain this. He doesn't have to be flying back. And the timing widow is large. So don't rush it.

It's so damn goofy. Even the demo isnt helpful. Basically just hold the tag out button once you send them flying. The next step is vanishing attack and then tag out.

I was able to switch mid combo just mashing on the first day. Haven't figured out how i did it 🤷‍♂️

I found out the trick just press x 4 times(or square) then switch out and continue pressing x(square)
