You speak to me. Knitting for me is therapy for the same reason. Something new, something different and seeing progress toward goals. I, too, spend most of my time in my home after traveling fulltime in a 40' self contained motorhome for 10 tp 15 years.
Omg I’m so glad UA-cam suggested your channel. I really like your energy, the way you talk about knitting and all the things you make. Beautiful! I’m going to watch all your previous episodes. Hello from Belgium 🇧🇪.
Hi Makayla. I really enjoy your podcast and seeing all your lovely knits. You do a fantastic job!! Also, you are absolutely right, crochet, knitting or any craft you get enjoyment out of is amazing therapy. And the best part is it's "at home" therapy. 😃 😊
I really enjoy watching your videos. I’m a stay at home mom so I understand the “therapy”knitting provides. My thing is that when I worked outside the home I had a sense of completion. My in box was empty and I was done! At home there’s always more laundry, dishes, messes. So when I have a big project on the needles sometimes I just knit a dishcloth to get that sense of accomplishment.
Yes!!! My job is never done. I used to give myself a rule that I couldn't do anything for me until I was done with everything that needed to be done. But that was a dumb rule!! Lol. I get things done in a timely manner but I don't mind to take a knitting break even if there's dishes in the sink 😜
Makayla, I loved your tangent about home! When I graduated from high school I went to college out of state, my husband was in the Navy so his location was constantly changing and when I graduated from college and got married we lived in about 5 states before we got to pick our location. Now that we're here, I don't really love my house, but we moved for the land and I love that, so slowly working on the house part ;) But I hear you on the change... I told my husband the other day that I think I love my knitting so much because it is a tiny thing that I can make completely beautiful and can control. Also we have half our living room with the subfloor exposed due to a toilet overflowing so that totally contributes to my thoughts on my knitting as well 😂
Lovely watching you again. Your projects are just beautiful and you've done such a perfect job on them all. I remember watching you when you first starting podcasting and I think your knitting has improved out of sight. Well done. You are so lovely and wholesome and share my daughters name.
I loved it when you said you couldn’t let those empty DPNs just sit there-they definitely needed a project! Your Freesia cardigan is straight up gorgeous, and I loved hearing about all of your projects!
Beautiful knits! And I’m totally with you on colours! I wear what I love and I really don’t care if some colours don’t make me pop, I think what you’re drawn to will look great on! And your knits look great on you!
Oh, Makayla, you have some beautiful projects on the needles. I love watching your podcasts. You are so inspiring with young kids, homeschooling, and such beautiful podcasts and yet able to open your life to inspire others. Keep on doing what you’re doing! ❤️
I just found you. I subscribed, really enjoyed your video. It is so nice to see you sitting outside and listening to all nature going in on in the background. The video is just so nice and fresh and different than all the others, I hope to see you often. Thank you. Alicia
Hi…what a super fun podcast with so much exciting knitting energy. It’s fun for me to watch you having a great time knitting and creating beautiful garments with yarn. I’m old enough to be your grandmother and it’s enlightening for a long time stitcher to see a young woman enjoying the creative process everyday. Enjoy your time and keep on keeping on….👏👏👏
first time here - have to say the mood of this is so gorgeus - the lights, the background, the nature background noises! and you and your knits are gorgeus too! glad I found this podcast
Love your finished sweater! And the color choices for the Alpine Bloom are perfect for you. Thanks for showing the fall socks plans too as I am getting the itch for all things fall and just want this hot weather to go away! I think some pumpkin colored solid socks sounds like a plan!
What a beautiful episode filled with sooo many gorgeous makes! I think the color of your cardigan is absolutly gorgeous too. Thank you for recording such a lovely episode for us to enjoy, sweet friend! 💖💖💖
Hello! I love all your color choices, especially your two cardigans, and your Alpine is going to be beautiful! I don’t really think you have to be concerned about the Freesia color next to your skin since you’ll have another color shirt underneath it. I think it’s a beautiful color next to your skin. Fall is my favorite time of year also, so my favorite colors to wear are autumn colors, and because they do look the best with my skin tone. I look forward to all your fall/winter knits. Oh, I wanted to also say that all the little details on your Freesia Cardigan look so nice, clean and professionally done! Excellent work!!
Wow - I've caught up. Your Alpine sweater is going to be gorgeous! I have never heard insects so vocal, we just don't get them like that in the UK. Nature is amazing. I want to say, don't worry about your daughter not wanting to sit for long to do 'school work' - they all 'get there' in the end and she will be happy being home with you and her brothers, learning through life. I'm sure that what she learns now, with you in the home, will stand her in far better stead than many things that gets fed to them at state institutions. In my opinion, from my experiences. It will be so lovely to see you again soon, Blessings Always ~ Mo 💐🙏✨
Love your podcast and the outside noises. We get a lot of cicadas and crickets here in Kentucky so its a familiar summer sound to me. I love your Alpine Bloom and can't wait to make my own. I really want to cast on The Bubble Cardigan and Shawlography by Stephen West! Also a Pressed Flowers cowl and an Heirloom Quilt Cardigan. And probably another ranunculus.... so many plans but not enough time 😂
Right? The common struggle between knitters lol! Just never enough time. I knit the shawlography during the knit a long (it took me much longer haha) and it's a beautiful piece of art. His designs are amazing!
I've heard other podcasters say to knit some rows after the rib on shorty socks so they stay up better. Your Fresia cardigan is beautiful! ❤ Good for you in wearing the colors you want! Pilling makes sweaters look cozy and loved! 😍 Oh wow!! I LOVE what the mohair did to your Ranunculus!! It's lovely!! ❤
Hi Makayla, I loved this podcast as always. I'm dying to knit the alpine bloom and was thinking of trying a sauberball too for it so this is super cool that I'll get to see yours ! I purchased the alpine bloom hat when it came out to knit that so I'll be using some leftovers from a recent cardigan to knit that soon. Otherwise, my fall knitting plan is my third Hervé skirt and probably a merino mohair cardigan for some yarn I have waiting to be used. For now, I'm going to enjoy my last couple of 'summer projects' before diving into the autumnal projects. :)
i love the vibe of your show! and honestly didn't mind the cicadas and crickets and birds, it reminded me of the summers that i lived in indiana during college 😅💖 as for dropping stitches, have you tried using stitch stoppers? (i also hate fixing dropped stitches but i haven't been able to justify that purchase for myself yet)
I see projects done in refined/restrained neutrals. But like you I am always drawn to colors and not just muted dainty colors…I am all about bold color. I get bored with neutrals. Editing after seeing your alpine bloom. Case in point….main color a heathered dark grey but the colorwork will be spincycle in vibe check…..bold green, line green, fuschia, purple.
Your Ranunculus is beautiful! Great way to make lemonade from lemons 😄. I just knit my first one and it grew after blocking, so I’m undoing the binding and shortening it (some day!). I’m knitting the Misurina, my first colorwork sweater, and enjoying it. I found swatching really challenging. I’ve actually gone up to size 7 needles. The original was a 4, just like Alpine Bloom. Crazy!
My first one grew more than expected as well! The drapey nature of the pattern must be to blame haha. Is that a Caitlin hunter pattern? I feel like her older patterns are much more loosely knit as far as gauge goes . I made one of hers a couple years ago and went up two needle sizes and a pattern size and it still came out too small 😬
@@sugarfolkhomemade yes, it’s also a Caitlin Hunter pattern. It’s designer to be loose and very drapy. But I don’t know how she gets drapy fabric with size 4 needles!
Yeah there she is again! Your alpine bloom sweater is on my list as well, yours is amazing, way better than the original picture! On my list as well: Jupiter crop with original colors, mine will be with long sleeves, Pressed flower cardigan..... ;) I am spinning the CC for the Press. Flower cardi. So you can guess who inspired me as well. Much love from Germany
Aw thank you 😊 I made the Jupiter a while back with original colors. Such a beautiful piece! Had major gauge issues though so I definitely recommend checking gauge! Haha. Spinning is something I'd love to learn one day, hoping I can put time towards that as the kids get older.
@@sugarfolkhomemade yes I know, I binge watched your episodes 2 weeks ago.... and I always swatch and wash it because I already have knit potato sacks which came out after washing..... and I rib the swatch back and use the yarn. Added you as a friend on ravelry although mine isn`t up to date.
I just love watching your podcast - you always make me smile💕💕💕 xoxo Judy p.s. I've been dreaming about making a wrap cardigan too - just looking for the one that works with the yarn I have in stash!
Love your Freesia cardigan. I think the color looks pretty on you. If you had your colors done, it helps you pick shade or tints that helps you glow. On camera you appear to me to be a summer tones. But cameras are deceiving. Enjoying your videos.
@@sugarfolkhomemade then your camera captures you beautifully. I'm a cool summer too. Soft pink is my favorite color. But I also love red, navy blue and purple. When we work with our colors instead of fighting them, we have a glowing complexion. Love so many of your knitting projects you choose. ♥
I was afraid the audio might not be great. I usually amplify the volume in my editing app but I forgot and didn't realize until it was already uploaded. I'm sorry! ❤️

I did not see a problem with the lighting at all during your whole broadcast. You remained lovely and so did your projects. Great show.
I adore you, You say things that make so much sense to me that I haven't ever put words to. Thank you for being so authentic.
You are lovely as usual and I love all your knits 🧶
Love your flower cardigan and your pinks !!!
Have a great week and Enjoy your knits as I do 😊💝🇨🇦

agreed, i'm in love with the Freesia!
Your Ranunculus looks very pretty. It’s incredible how much the mohair transforms the pink. Love your projects. Happy knitting.
