Dude, compared to UK the prices are nothing, a private appointment in UK with a specialist is at least 250 pounds. BTW doctors in Greece are probably some of the best, modern medicine is invented there.
You're right! We never got private healthcare in the UK. It was more affordable to fly to Ro and get everything done there. Yes, there are great doctors here , and Greece produces the most doctors in Europe.🔝
I returned to Greece, after many years living abroad. One of my kids had to be hospitalized due to an allergic reaction. 2 y.o., he stayed at a public hospital with my wife, for four nights. My wife is not Greek, yet she didn't have a problem communicated, although I was there two times per day. I was very stressed, but all went well. That's the norm for Greek healthcare system. Doctors asking for money under the table, healthcare personnel that are ignorant or indifferent, is an exception, not the norm. It happens, but in majority you get a decent treatment. And the vast majority of doctors KNOW what they're doing. Greeks take this for granted, but this is not the case in other countries.
I'm glad everything went well in the end, and your family got good care. I had a very good experience while being hospitalised in Heraklion Hospital. Thanks for sharing your experience 🙏
It's pretty common, safer and in most cases affordable with less hassle to use private healthcare in Greece. Most people avoid the state-run public health system due to the lack of investment, unless it's for A&E purposes/taken by an ambulance. Unlike in the UK, that you go to a GP to be referred to a (public or private if you have insurance) dermatologist or hospital, in Greece it's much easier to go private. There is an abadunce of trained doctors, hence why many leave the country.
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective on the healthcare system here! 😊 I can see why many people prefer private healthcare for convenience and quality, especially with the abundance of great doctors available. It’s such a difference from the referral process in the UK! Have you had any particularly positive experiences with private healthcare in Greece? Thanks for watching and for your helpful insights! 🥰
Private healthcare is better or similar to public. Main difference is time. Maybe private is a bit faster but not like much. Depends on what the health issue you are battling of course. You can try public healthcare, doctors are all educated and high quality. Issues in public healthcare are not related to solving the health issue itself. Doctors and surgeons do their job. If private care cost is alright for you then stick to it. If there is a cost issue, public is a good alternative.
I think they are similar as you say, the doctors are good either way, is just a matter of time and cost. I think depending on the issue, sometimes one is better than the other, it can either save you time or money.
In Athens dermatologists cost around 50€. This year I spoke with some Greek women and told me that they face skin problems due to the unstable weather.
50 euro is nothing compared to prices in Australia. In Australia a dermatologist will charge you around 150 euro for 15 minutes. And no, that is not a typo error.
It's not the unstable weather, it's the HEAT plus humidity plus SWEAT that ''creates'' most ''dermatological problems''. These two (lovely) youngsters walk(ed)/stayed too much in the ''mid-day heat often half naked'' . No matter how young and strong you are you should never underestimate the ''aegean sun'' -of course not overestimate it either, esp if you have sensitive (northern pale) skin. It's ok they learn a lesson, the first year is educative anyway...
I am not a doctor, but from my experience and from a few doctors I follow, dermatological problems often appear when you change your diet. Something in your diet may not be good, and your body reacts to it.
@@Sunpire Yeah it was thh whole package though . Blood , hormones and other staff I don't understand. I did it because in the Netherlands where I currently live and work they won't do the test I wanted unless I go to doctors at least 3 to 4 times 😅
I thought so, whenever we need to sort out something quickly we would go to private, if it's not something too expensive. It's very quick. Thank you for the advice 🙏 ☺️
We do cover our heads when we're in full sun, we just take it off when we film so we don't look like we're under cover😂 Thank you for the concern and advice 🙏💙
also i am greek, i never went to public health for dermatologist, dentist, blood tests etc. The only reason to go public is if the ambulance takes you there 😂 ( And i mean if you brake a bone need surgery etc )
Thank you guys for another great and informative video. Some of the bad stories I’ve heard relating to healthcare in Greece are the ones of Hospitalisation. They told me that you virtually have to bribe/tip ( FAKELAKI in Greek ) the nurses and others to get proper care whilst in hospital, otherwise you become frustrated from the lack of it and have to wait a long time to be looked after. Is it true? I don’t really know.
We have a video about our experience with Hospitals here in Greece, if you haven't seen that one, have a look, you might find value in it. Our experience in the hospital was good, but you never know what kind of doctor or nurse you can meet...
Most health issues are getting better with carnivore diet. Vegetables are full of oxalates that can cause many problems. You can do your research on UA-cam and you'll find plenty of information on the carnivore diet. Feel better soon! 🙂
I have been in touch with the Greek government regarding this young lady. I informed them she is the one that will be carrying the child they will name after me and I informed them to make sure she receives the best treatment available. 😉 I hope you get better and I hope I made you laugh.
Fellow Greeks, please tell them how wrong they are. How big mistake was for them coming to Greece. Give advice to people who have lived in more countries than you'll, probably, ever will.
Do you have any experience with private healthcare?🤔
Yes, 40 Euros is a typical price. I paid that last week for a full eye check up. For acne try honey. Rinse it off after an hour. Repeat daily.

This is what you get from at least 2 generations of Greeks raising their kids to become doctors.
I'm glad everything went well in the end, and your family got good care. I had a very good experience while being hospitalised in Heraklion Hospital. Thanks for sharing your experience 🙏
Εύχομαι περαστικά! Ραούλ να φροντίζεις το κορίτσι.
Efharisto para poli! 🙏🏻

Sounds very normal situation and price. Greek guy! Enjoy life!
Thank you! 🙏💙

It's very common, there are so many factors nowadays .

It might be. There were many things changing along with this move. 🤔
Thank you for the concern and info🙏💙
For Greeks private health is expensive .I mean I paid 160 for general blood test in Euromedica 5 years ago .I don't even wanna know the prices now .😅
That was just for the blood test? That seems a bit pricey compared to what I paid 😅🙈
@@Sunpire Yeah it was thh whole package though . Blood , hormones and other staff I don't understand.
I did it because in the Netherlands where I currently live and work they won't do the test I wanted unless I go to doctors at least 3 to 4 times 😅
I get it! We used to do the same when we were living in the Uk. Sometimes, it was so much easier to just fky fly to Ro and get things done there.
It takes months to get an appointment with my dermatologist. I find zinc and omega 3 to help a lot for acne.
I thought so, whenever we need to sort out something quickly we would go to private, if it's not something too expensive. It's very quick.
Thank you for the advice 🙏 ☺️
Where about are u living in Crete . We are moving to Crete but no idea what’s the best area
We are in Akrotiri area, close to Chania. For us, it's a great area for living 😊
Guys please get some hats, at least from next summer on!
We do cover our heads when we're in full sun, we just take it off when we film so we don't look like we're under cover😂
Thank you for the concern and advice 🙏💙
😮
🤗🤗
❤❤❤
💙💙💙🤍🤍🤍
Get public heallthcare. Minimal to no cost for healthcare. Also Raul should make you a ntakos daily to speed up the recovery :P
Thank you!🙏💙
The good tomatoes are gone now 😢 he used to do it everyday in the summer though 😂
💙💙👍👍
👍🏻 👍🏻
Amalia you have an acne problem? Just put some windex on it and it will go away! See you on the next one guys!
Apparently, Raul and Amalia are too young to have watched "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" so they do not get my joke. Anyway...
You are right, that was too old of a reference for us to understand and needed some research to get the joke 😂
yeah 40$ is even at the cheap side of prices
also i am greek, i never went to public health for dermatologist, dentist, blood tests etc. The only reason to go public is if the ambulance takes you there 😂 ( And i mean if you brake a bone need surgery etc )
That's interesting! Is it because of the waiting time, or do you think that private healthcare is better?😊
Thank you for watching and for commenting 🙏💙

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Always!
Thank you! I'll be fine! 😊
Fellow Greeks, please tell them how wrong they are. How big mistake was for them coming to Greece. Give advice to people who have lived in more countries than you'll, probably, ever will.
I am Scandinavian, born and raised and I live in Greece. And comments like yours are at least infuriating and stupid.
First comment!!! Great job for going private in Greece. The public system is horrible…
Very nice🎉
Man, you were very fast! Thank you for being here!🙏🏻
Why is do you say that? Did you have a bad experience? 🤔
Nikolaki, why don't you tell us your opinion about the US public healthcare system? I guess you would if it existed...😁 Safe landings my boy!
No, it's not.
