Waldner was nervous playing Bohm. The German did not fear Waldners style. He went back to much here. How many smashes was he allowing Bohm. If Waldner attacked closer to the table he would win easier.
You have to say, that Boehm´s smashes were fantastic ! Waldner was nervous, because he had problems wtih Boehm´s style and Boehm´s balls in the backhand after Waldner´s serves.
@@dickn.ormous1064 Sure. “Waldner toyed with Boehm” That’s always the same explanation if the supposedly better players win. But if they lose than they are “injured or listless”. The fact is, that Boehm was a good player with a lot of capability.
@@topspin4456 The fact is Waldner played against Bohm in the singles match and beat him, also beat him in the Olympics in 1988 and every time they met in Europe top12 tournaments.Just because there are no videos online of those events doesn't mean they didn't happen. You can even find Bundesliga matches of Waldner against Bohm in 1985 and 1987 and he toys against him performing lobs away from the table etc.Bohm was a poor man's Grubba, good for the meaningless Bundesliga matches but irrelevant in big tournaments. Of course if he caught Waldner in a poor state in team matches like 1987WTTC when Waldner was ill(team matches were best of 3 which benefitted the weaker player) he could inflict some damage with his push-blocking style . One should check Waldner's Europe top12 records and draws to understand how dominant he was.
Wipes the moisture off their hand on a neutral part of the table where it is unlikely to affect play and there is not much time to grab a towel. Large facilities where tournaments are held often have lousy air movement.

3 hours!! GUooouu!!!! excellent!! thanks for sharing!!
Outstanding picture and audio quality for 23 year old footage! Where the hell did you dig this out from?
It´s copy from the Swedish television homepage, svt.se/play, search for "bordtennis" and you find it.
It's great to be able to see the ball (and not necessarily because of the speed) - no awful blue table as seem to be ubiquitous these days!

What is Equipment of Jon Ove Waldner???
Helo
3:14:30 Seeing Rosskopf smack the ball in anguish and waldner instantly catching it and tossing out to the audience was hillarious!
Was Appelgren the No. 1 in 1990's Europe?
yes he was
In this tournement he was number 6 in world and number 4 in europ.
Waldner was the world #1 at the time, they said. Those were the days…
he was on fire in this tournament, he won the singles.
Persson is the best
At what?

why do they fondle the table all the time at the net? some lucky ritual?
