Please rewatch this video, Elijah Craig toasted and Michter’s toasted. This is a perfect video, what I originally subscribed for. You’re now trying to please everyone. You can’t. You’re the experts, just do what you do best. Love the chemistry. This is enjoyable to watch.
Finally found my first bottle of this. Love all your videos but I had to comment and say Sara your hair is 🔥 in this video 😍. Keep up the great content guys!
Great video. Love your comments about warmth/bite. I uncorked Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea Cask Strength. 112 proof, but had the warmth of a 90. Didn't blow me away, but very smooth.
Your last comment about maybe a food pairing is in order totally makes your review 100% spot on! As a retired Chef with experience from roadside attractions to catering to a former president of the United States of America I approve your message, hahaha! Love your channel and all you guys do.
Elijah Craig is my daily drinker, but I've been searching for this one since it dropped in 2020. Found it today in not one of the more upscale liquor stores in town (cash ONLY), but after a quick trip to the ATM I picked up the EC Toasted Barrel. Looking forward to cracking it open. Thanks for the reviews, kids.
2 years past and I finally got my hands on this bottle. I do like the original Elijah Craig, You two keep up the great reviews.. By the way I didn't even know Michter's had a toasted barrel. Only had the Unblended American Whiskey😊🤗
I'm a CA native where you can virtually never find whiskey for "suggested retail". I was fortunate enough to take a road trip to 8 western states where I found an Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel for "suggested retail". It was actually readily available at that price. I unfortunately made the mistake of not uncorking it until I had returned to CA. I think it is PHENOMENAL!! However, here in CA I can't find it anywhere for less than $100.00
I found a bottle at Total Wine & More in San Ramon for $51.99. I'm enjoying the juice right now. So good! Highly recommend. I wish I had enough to buy a bottle of the Larceny Barrel Proof (126.6 Proof).
I have not had the Michter’s, but I have the Woodford DO and OF 1910 and the ECTB holds up just fine. I’ll take the ECTB over dropping $200 on the Michter’s any day.
I wanted to start singing “You’ve lost, that BOURBON feeeeling... whoa that BOURBON feeeeling.... you’ve lost that BOURBON feeling and it’s gone, gone, gone... whooaaaoaaaaa...”
I really enjoyed the Michter's toasted barrel, wish I still had some to enjoy while watching this. It is interesting Sara got a Brown Forman vibe from the EC, I had the same thought with the Michter's.
I low key hope they make single barrel versions of toasted barrel so I can get a hold of the used empties. Cleaning out a #3 or #4 char for making liquor cabinets is a pain in the ass.
I'm having my first right now. I've only been at this for a little while, so my nose basically just still picks out vanilla, alcohol and brown sugar from pretty much everything. This one seems a little sweet up front, then gets a little oaky and dry for me. I wouldn't really say this is superior to regular EC Small Batch. In fact, I prefer SB, price aside. And since we're talking about the same proof and the $64 price tag this Toasted Barrel had (in Des Moines), I would have to draw a hackneyed - but often accurate - conclusion that it's good, but you can find something you'll enjoy more for half the price. We'll see what I think the next time I open it, likely when visiting my brother in late October.
Presently Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel is my favorite $80.00 bottle(not 49.99 anywhere I’ve found it). I would point you at Basil Hayden’s Toasted Barrel as a great $35.00 bottle.😁
The last third of your videos are most fun because Sara is just about drunk by that time! :) If you guys really think "neck pour" ( 11:45 ) is a valid thing, why not pour a full bottle into a large jug, swish it around a bit, then pour it back into the bottle? Or better yet open two identical bottles, do a "neck pour" on one and aerate the other, then check blindly to see if there is a difference?
...Seems complicated. How about this. If neck pours are a real thing, which I seriously doubt, before opening and pouring from any given bottle, invert it several times to promote adequate mixing prior. Just saying ...
@@tgentilcoremd Yeah, I'm with you on this. I believe some tasters blame "neck pour" for the fact that their taste buds are not the same from day to day.
@@tgentilcoremd It's not that the juice in the neck is different than the juice in the rest of the bottle and requires mixing, it's that the bourbon hasn't been exposed to any air when you open a new bottle. Once you do a few pours, there is room for some air to get in the bottle and open the bourbon a bit.
unfortunately Living in Florida everything is available but 4 x the MSRP price. Every liquor store since 2 years back is on the band wagon of price gouging. Sad but true . ty for your review. Plus you can get pretty much any bourbon online if willing to overpay the hype. stay safe
Not that you guys disagreed on this bourbon, but it would be interesting to watch a compilation of all the bourbons you two didn’t agree on, in any way!
Had some WR dbl oak last night. I like the Elijah Craig regular small batch better at almost 1/2 the price. I just don't get all these high proof high cost offerings. The WR dbl oak is good but not worth the high cost ($60).
During 2021 Christmas time most stores charge 100$ I got it for 80, Is it better than standard? YES. Is it worth 80$ ? Absolutely NOT, 50$ ? NO. Is it worth 40$? Probably.
You guys really should just shut up about the whole “we’re not getting paid so all our opinions are our own” bullshit lol all your saying is, is when they DO send you a bottle and sponsor a video, all your words on it are bullshit and we shouldn’t listen to anything you have to say...... instead, say nothing! No one cares if you’ve been given a bottle by a company or whether you’ve bought it lol

Thanks! We're loving all the different types of content we can put out on our channel these days.
I was planning on buying the Toasted Barrel, but this video solidified my need to find a bottle.

I’m gonna tell my daughter this is Jim & Pam from The Office. 🥃
We'll gladly take that!
Elijah Craig is just one of those bourbons that you can't go wrong with.
Absolutely. A great cheap bourbon.

David Hopkins Wow, thank you! Any food pairing suggestions, Chef?
Sara looking even sharper with her hair curled like that!
Yeah, love the hair!
Killer with the semi-updo. Chad is a fox too though.

You drink every day!?
Love toasted barrel from Michters so I am excited for this one!!
Great review, I think "unique" is the operative term here. Really enjoying the bottle I finally found recently... wish I could get another one.

*BLIND THE DOUBLES OAKS!!!*
Thanks for the review! Lots of helpful information. Sara, your hair looks great!
Can we get a flight fight of double barreled bottles please! ECTB, OF1910, WRDO, michters toasted
Great job. Thanks for the notes.

Got one of these this evening! Bananas Foster was the first thing that came to mind on the nose.
Keeping my eyes out for the Toasted Barrel.
Cheers 🥃

Bourbon of 2020. That's a bold statement.
Bourbon of the fall, meaning sitting outside, maybe drinking it around the fire. Different meaning than just THE Bourbon of 2020.
It's going to be an Elijah Craig weekend.
Presently Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel is my favorite $80.00 bottle(not 49.99 anywhere I’ve found it). I would point you at Basil Hayden’s Toasted Barrel as a great $35.00 bottle.😁
Sara is such a babe. Not just any babe, but a Femme Fatale from Film Noir, except it's not her smoking, it's her whiskey sipping.
Just won a bottle in a local raffle still carrying over from last years allocation. Psyched!

Burnt marshmallows are key
Rare Breed Rye, waiting for it to be available in NNY

6 minutes in and I'm hungry for s'mores now!!! Lol 😊❤🥃🍫
Not that you guys disagreed on this bourbon, but it would be interesting to watch a compilation of all the bourbons you two didn’t agree on, in any way!
Just pick up my bottle of EC Toasted barrel
How about a Bourbon Night calendar for 2021.
What would you want in the calendar?
@@ItsBourbonNight Bourbon. I think he meant an *advent* calendar. :D
Adam Terry Aw, dang, I was really wanting to be Mr. January.
@@ItsBourbonNight Just Sara will do for me Miss January through December. :)
Just got it here in LA.. I like it... it has a dry mid palate but the nose awesome..
Sara is a cutie
Don’t get mad at me Chad 😶
Yes, another food pairing episode! Flight fight style...? 🧐
wonder how this would go against WR double oak..
Had some WR dbl oak last night. I like the Elijah Craig regular small batch better at almost 1/2 the price. I just don't get all these high proof high cost offerings. The WR dbl oak is good but not worth the high cost ($60).
Got a bottle myself. For the price, just stick with their small batch.
Elijah Craig is $22-25 for you guys?!?! $30 here in PA.
Imagine out of the states
@@rafaelcarmo5562 Fair
Same here in TN.
$19.99 here in NorCal.
I am eating pistachios while drinking bourbon. Just give it a try.
Is this roll out going to be as painfully slow as the rye?
Yeah, probably.
Was that Accordion Music??? Its a bold strategy Cotton, Let's see if it pays off for them.
When will toasted elijah craig reach the uk ?? Drooling already 🤤🤤🤤🥃

I hate allocation. Means I likely won’t see it
Far as I'm concerned both of those bottles don't exist.
EC toasted just hit my store today
I really like Elijah Craig regular small batch. But I am not going to put down the extra dollars for this double oak/toasted allocated offering.
EC toasted is already out
Whiskey cheers
877-MASH-NOW!
👍
Here comes the magic question: Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel its better then Woodford Reserve Double Oaked?
sorin srn Though we haven’t done a blind side by side, my instincts say yes.
It's Bourbon Night thx guys

00.11 Sara is pissed @ Chad...
Did he really say “fresh crack”?
Sure did!
