had to pour me some 1910 for this video. And man is it good.. the 1910/20 and the Double oaked are my favorite winter time pours. Those and cold weather go together so well

As soon as the review portion started I was interested in how this would compare to OF 1910 & Woodford DO... then you do exactly that!! Yess! Thanks for this. OF 1910 will def be the next bottle I pick up.

The first time I did all 3 side-by-side, the EC came in second place (1910 was first). Some months later, I just did all 3 again and the EC dropped to third. Mainly I think I've gained more appreciation for the Woodford.
The 1910 is by far my favorite though. In fact, it is my favorite re-barreled dram that I've had, and even my favorite of the Whiskey Row series.

Nick Kentros I agree. It’s a really nice bourbon, but I would only reach for it for desert. To each their own, but I also found it too candy-sweet for regular sipping. Readily available IS nice tho.

Went in search of Evan Williams Single Barrel as it is soon to be a Kentucky-only release, and hit a couple of the joints that aren't big box stores. Didn't find the Evan, but I did FINALLY find the Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel for $60. I was undecided until I decided to check your review again and give it a shot. Thanks, Jason.

OF 1910 and WR DO are both winners and depending on what mood you are they are different and delicious. If I would compare it to coffee, OF 1910 is dark roast American coffee with just a little sugar and WR is espresso with milk and sugar, what us Cubans call cafe con leche, light and sweet. Great review as always Jason! Cheers!🤙

I'm having my first right now, and tend to agree. I've only been at this for a little while, so my nose basically just still picks out vanilla, alcohol and brown sugar from pretty much everything. But I really haven't noticed this as being superior to regular EC Small Batch. In fact, I prefer SB, price aside. And since we're talking about the same proof and the $64 price tag this Toasted Barrel had (in Des Moines), I would have to draw a hackneyed - but often accurate - conclusion that it's good, but you can find something you'll enjoy more for half the price.
We'll see what I think the next time I open it, likely when visiting my brother in late October.

Opened mine tonight. Watched while sipping. You are spot on. This is more a mood bourbon. The 1910 and WDO are more a relaxing sipper. The EC TB is more a let's relax and then go party style bourbon. I actually like the dryness and spice on the finish. Wish it lasted longer. Thx for the review! Cheers.

Of the three the Woodford is probably the only one I can actually get hold of. Interesting review as although I have drunk it before I didn't realize the Woodford was actually a toasted bourbon.

Woodford Dbl is terrific, Thanks for the video - can't wait to try the Elijah. BTW - if you use sugar and cream in your coffee, you are not a real coffee lover / drinker. French roast, black. Or my fav - Pete's Major Dickasens - black. Yummy.

Great Review, thanks. As a drinker that drinks EC of all varieties regularly, I’m both excited and disappointed in another allocated extension of the brand. Hate the fact that I’ll have to probably buy on secondary due to all the flippers in my area buying everything up. Will need to get one though, it’s a must for me. Hope the EC gods are looking down on me!

Got all 3 bottles. Didn't opened yet Toasted Oak bottle. But Old Forester 1910 and 1920 are top of my favorites. Like you mentioned in the other video. I like 1915. To mix 2 of them. Also I like to mix barrel proof with small batch for any bourbons. The taste is outstanding 🤣

Didn't realize the toasted barrel has been out for so long, just got one recently. I think I enjoyed it a lot more than you did...my bottle's almost empty & I'm bummed that I can't find another one. Haven't had (or ever seen) Michter's version but this one is so unique, seems like it's hard to compare it to anything else.

Found this bottle yesterday for $89 smh. I also was hoping a bit more sweetness and found it to be a little light on the palette. It’s a good bottle and hoping it opens up to be a great one. It’s not worth $89, I don’t regret the purchase but if you can get it at $50 I think that’s fair. WFDO is awesome and now going to get me 1910 next.

It’s not bad. Agree that the sweet, smore note on the nose is great. If the flavor profile stayed more sweet, I would love it. The spice on the backend of the palate is a bit much for my liking. I do however have friends who like the punchy, spice, alcohol burn on the finish.

Ya'all haven't lived untill you've tried Wyoming Whiskey Inc's Small Batch Bourbon out of Kirby, WY. First of all, they use crystal clear water from a high pressure artesian well who's water hasn't seen the light of day for six thousand years. Every barrel is aged a minimum of 5 years, you can pay more for private reserve aged longer, and it has the most amazing finish with excellent caramel notes. Best tasting high alcohol bourbon I've ever tasted. You can also buy wood chips from their barrels for the perfect smoke in your grill. 👍 You're welcome. 👊

Im a big fan of Elijah Craig and I think this will be a solid bottle, however it being allocated is a killer for me. Woodford Double Oak and OF 1910 are both readily available on the shelf at almost any store for a similar price. I highly doubt this bottle will be so significantly better than those two options to make the headache of dealing with allocation worth it.

You mentioned how dry it becomes, I kept thinking a little water may help with the balance and bring the sweetness forward more. I was hoping you were going to add a little water but still enjoyed comparing it to the other two. I also didn't know the 1910 was toasted. Thanks for the info and if you add a little water, I would like to hear your thoughts. I seem to find a lot of what I find and like in bourbons are some of your tastes as well so it helps me decide what to buy next. Keep up the great work.

I love barrel proof bourbon as it is 'bourbon as God intended.' However I have been disappointed with ECPB offerings as I have found that EC usually drinks hot and fruity and spicy whereas I prefer bourbon the be sweet and caramely and vanillay and butterscotchy. 94 proof EC was the first bourbon in my early whiskey days to make me say, "Oh shit, bourbon is what I like." I do like oakey bourbon, so I have been very excited to see how this EC toasted barrel tastes.

Well said! I feel like I prefer the sweeter end of the bourbon spectrum too, some of the bourbons that get tons of praise are just total oak / heat bombs that I can't seem to get used to.

@@TheMashandDrum I loved OF 1910 and really liked Woodford Double Oaked, so I will definitely pick this up when I see it.

The s’mores nose sounds sooo good but the pallet doesn’t appeal to me. I do love the WRDO. Probably will go with OF 1910 though when that is gone instead of this. Easy for me to get OF and WR rather than hunt for another allocated bottle.

Id be very interested in a Toasted Barrel.....Proof. None of the major double barrel bourbons come at cask strength, so that would be really something else

I think the high proof/ethanol may overpower the subtle notes of the toasted barrel. You may like the Jack Daniel's Heritage as it was made in a special toasted barrel with a low entry proof and bottled at 100 proof.

@@BudsCartoon Hmmm, I suppose thats possible, but I know that ECBP and Larceny BP both drink was easier than their proofs. I think Heaven Hill has a knack for the high octane stuff

This bottle isn't even available within three state lines from me now. And the few places that are selling it are charging $100+. No way! I'll just go get some WRDO up the street from me.

@@TheMashandDrum I just picked up the EC toasted barrel. I really enjoy it. I haven't had the 1910 yet. With similar profiles I'm thinking the double oaked is best as I can get it the cheapest at $42

I don't think anything allocated can take on something that is high quality and always available everywhere.
