    Wow!! I love this!! I’ve not played my violin in years, and recently decided I wanted to pull it back out to play. Of course I need new strings and rosin and shoulder pad. I just ordered some supplies from your online shop, and while looking up a video on using a tuning fork, I found your channel! How fun! The couple videos of yours I’ve now watched have really fueled my desire to play again. I can’t wait for my strings to arrive so I can start playing again! Thank you!! 😁

    Thanks, this is a tune that I always like going back to as I feel I can play it pretty well. I've been snagging some of your sheet music lately and letting my instructor know that this is what I want to work on next. The last one was Sound of Silence, but right now I'm working on John Ryan's polka, June Apple, and Mississippi Sawyer. And I really appreciate my Fiddler Man Carbon Fiber bow and shoulder rest. Thanks for the videos and lessons you provide.

    Hello Mr
    Fiddlerman. First of all I want to congratulate you.
    Excellent musician and teacher, his videos are very didactic and productive. I watched several of your videos where you also rate violins.
    I am a luthier here in Brazil, with certain roots in Italy.
    I buy your strings through your representative here in Brazil and I can say: How wonderful and sound they are. Once again, congratulations my friend. receive a big hug.

      @@1stfiddlermanYou're welcome, Fiddlerman - It was I playing the harmonica for more than 51 years with "feeling, phrasing, vibrato [note bending] and all that good stuff" that got me interested in learning to play the violin (fiddle). That was excellent! Thanks for sharing. Would you consider doing a lesson on getting good tone? The sound you get out of every violin I've seen you play is excellent regardless of the price.

    • @1stfiddlerman
      @1stfiddlerman  7 місяців тому +1

      Good point. I could do it but finding the secret to getting a good tone is based on so many factors when it comes to technique. I'm not saying that I wouldn't be able to take most of that on a video but try being your own teacher and analyze three things. Bow speed, bow contact location, and bow pressure. These are factors that greatly affect tone. Another thing that affects tone is how hard you press the string down with your left hand fingers. As you probably notice, the sound is better on an open string, which equals more left hand finger pressure. Obviously not so much that it causes pain or future issues. :)
      Good luck, and thanks for watching!!!

    • @Elavats
      @Elavats 7 місяців тому

       @1stfiddlerman Interesting. I like to think I'm aware of the bow pressure, speed and contact and try to practice those skills. I've never been told about the relationship of left hand pressure on the strings and it's affect on tone.

    Is this a typical 1 4 5? You xan figure them out that way. Land with cushion, hmm.

    • @1stfiddlerman
      @1stfiddlerman  2 роки тому +1

      It's 5, 2, 5 on the first part and the second part is 5, 2, 5, 4, 5.
      Or to be more exact you have G, D, G twice in the first part then G, D, G, F, G. Hope that helps.
      Did you like the cushion tip? Some people might like a shorter staccato in which case you don't need to land with the angled hair.
