Good review, but I don't see why anyone would want to buy this outside a reviewer seizing the opportunity to get a second chance at reviewing MP-5. That year of the horse excuse is the most logical I think, but even that is extremely difficult to understand why people would jump on this golden Megs. Anyway, I still love my MP-05, but can't wait for a 3rd party release of an MP-10 scaled one.

Paul! Paul, look at this!!! www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-3rd-party-discussion/1006189-x-transbots-mx-i-apollyon-mp-megatron.html a third party masterpiece Megatron!!! and in scale with the new figs too! Will you do a review of it?
STILL love this figure. Let the haters hate. Glad you TF'd it on screen, he is not that hard. Looking forward to an update, but I am still in love with this one after all these years. If the next MP Megatron is not a pistol, they can keep it.
12 days, that's definitely reason to give more respect to this figure! I can fully understand why others didn't like it, but personally I think it's pretty wicked. The only thing I notice about the Gold version is the trigger that folds into the left leg in robot mode doesn't peg in and keeps popping out... Maybe it's just mine? I truly hope Takara does an official re mold in scale with MP 10, old Megatron deserves it!
Quite frankly, I'm amazed that a toy designed in twelve days is this complex: normally I'd expect it to be extremely simple if it was designed in such a short time.
Remember how they animated Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas? How he walked with those toothpick thin legs? I'm imagining MP-05 animated similarly. lol
Thank you for this great review Optibotimus! I just received MP-5 today, and your video really made it a whole lot easier and less stressful to transform into gun mode (I have heard so many stories of people breaking theirs) cheers!
Long video! Just what I was looking for. I was kind of stuck transforming this guy. Thanks to your detailed look I was able to get him into Walther P38 mode. I honestly really like this Megatron. Looking forward to more of your reviews!
can you revisit the cliffjumper repaint of the bumblebee from the first movie? I would love that because I'm getting one on ebay and its hard to watch the old video.
Thanks for the detailed transformation! I finally decided to transform mine into the gun mode, since I now have Apollyon. Can you (or anyone) tell me where I can find the display stand shown in the video?
It was gold to homage a Lucky Draw figure from the Micro Change line as far as I'm aware, but as the Transformers Wiki said on Movie Legends Starscream from 2007, a gold paint job can't hide the lameness. Will you review the X-Transbots rendition of Megatron, *****? It would be awesome of you!
When I saw the gun mode, it reminded me of The Man With The Golden Gun... Could be that there,s a little homage to that hidden somewhere in the figure... :D
I lubricated all the tough spots and I have no problem transforming him now. Its actually easy. Why didn't Takara think to lub certain parts? I just don't understand. It probably would have saved many Megatron's from breaking. Anyway loved your video it helped better than anyone else's video. You Rock! Greg
Gregory Staron I honestly feel that the problem with this figure breaking so much is the people transforming him. They have an idea of where it's suppose to go and they force it. Such as the spin...if it's not fully extending, it won't rotate up...but people think it's extended fully, then force it up and it causes the plastic to snap. IF you take your time and are careful, it's not really hard to transform at all.
I totally agree. But you can see you struggling to move certain parts. That shouldn't be is my only point. Your right though, people just don't take the time. Thanks for still being around and doing what your doing. Any chance you could explain the obsession of collecting Transformers to my wife. She has a hard time understanding this 38 year old playing with toys. But I feel you don't stop playing with toys cause your old. You get old cause you stop playing with toys. Big ups from Connecticut. You've saved my life many times by being available in videos. I'm depressive and been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder. The vids and Transformers give me a break from my negative thoughts. And By the way Masterpiece Megatron is my favorite transformer. I might be the only one. Take care Greg
Several things come to my mind when I see this figure: ############################################ 1.) Looks like King Midas touched it. 2.) Reminds me of those "Gold Guns" that you would unlock in CoD. 3.) A certain Austin Powers villain would go *GA-GA* over him.
GoldMegs..... He's the 'con... The con with the Midas touch..... I agree with you totally about mp05. The first time I transformed him took 2 hours. I eventually reduced this to about 40 minutes.... Nice review as ever.
I am certainly looking forward to the X Transbots version, I bought an original MP-05 years ago, but I sold it, oddly enough that figure was the one that started me collecting Transformers, at that time when I first saw it, I loved it.
anyone remember the G1 episode where they are like all gold becuase of a gold colored river? i don't remember but i think they have resistance against laser fire?
Paul, I'm sure you have heard this before but I blame you for getting me back into collecting Transformers again. I love these masterpieces, even with some of their flaws, however I just got my hands on some near perfect G1 bots and it's like a second childhood. Awesome review. Keep up the good work.
All I can think off is watching Jobbythehong review this with the wiggley waggley and snap!!! As every part falls off. That’s not what I’d class as an MP
I've given up on a Takara/Hasbro MP10 scale Megatron. I ordered an MX-I Apollyon. The quality of Apollyon is unknown, but as a display piece in robot mode, he is near perfect.
I have the MP-05 Original Megatron. Minus the Orange plug. Broke the stub that connects the Trigger guard to the main body on mine. It is a pain to transform. Display him with MP-01 Optimus Prime.
Paul! I'm a huge fan of yours... I want to pre order MX-I Apollyon Megatron from BBTS... I know the item hasn't come in yet.... Will you be doing a video review for that? I know the developer has been working on this figure for months and months to get it right. I'm beyond excited and question the quality, integrity and complication. Any words of wisdom???
Russool Mishir But isn't this toy like more expensive to get than a real gun? I mean, the people who have 200$ to spend on a toy won't go on the rampage with it... I guess... I might be wrong tho, it's USA we're talking about here, so who knows, everything is possible..
The new master peice bumble bee is coming out do you know if you can do a reveiw of him and I'd love to see how he'd skale with a classics ( not sure if I've asked before
+MrMajorasmask101 You may already know about them by now but, if not, check out DX9 Tyrant and then check out X-Transbots Abaddon. They both put Mania King to shame in my opinion (Even though Mania King is still a good figure, a couple of downsides is that it's not MP scale or as cartoon-accurate as an MP). You can find videos of DX9 Tyrant here on UA-cam. Oh, I almost forgot, there's also a masterpiece Galvatron coming from FansToys called Sovereign. Just look up FansToys Sovereign.
The Walther P38 has history with the James Bond series, as Sean Connery was holding the air soft version of the gun, in a photo that would become one of the most iconic images in the franchise history. It's very possible this toy is an homage to the Golden Gun. One thing that I've always noticed with the Masterpiece line is how the figures borrow transformation cues from the original toys. G1 Megatron exploded in much the same way as we saw here. Toy gun laws have been the way they are since 1985 when a kid in Harlem got shot because he pointed a Megatron at a cop. The laws weren't strictly enforced. I got a book box reissue of Megs no problem. The problem in 2007 was that we were on the cusp of the first live action movie being released and with a laser focus on the brand sellers were told to toe the line. A long standing rumor is BBTS tipped off eBay to sellers who weren't following the orange cap laws.
Nice review :) Though I think i've had my fill of difficult transformers, (thank you ROTF Prime), though the gold is a really nice touch, but it's gonna be a finger print magnet :P I wouldn't mind seeing a MP version of Prime Megatron, since we never got a Leader varient (even a 3rd party MP version would be cool, even though that's highly unlikely). Lets hope they make an attempt at an MP version of Galvatron, since the only version of him i've seen was the G1 version (though i think they did another)
Hey Optibotimus. What do you think of the new AD31 Optimus prime with the movie accurate armor? I know it has not come out yet but just your anticipated thoughts... Thanks.
my philosophy is: the more elaborate the transformation is, the better: I love challenges. first time I transformed this guy, it took me only 15 minutes, while a lot complained that it took them over an hour... my main complaint about this figure is the quality of materials used: mine has rusty feet and I didn't do anything with him except dust him... also, his hip joints were so loose that he couldn't stand straight: so I had to melt the plastic permanetly... the figure looks great its just a matter of Q.C. ... thanx for the review
Great Review as always. Been watching your reviews for a while, and you got me sold on this Gold Version Megatron...I got the majority of my masterpiece transformers because of your reviews...I'm waiting for Bumblebee and Perfect Edition Ultra Magnus as well. Once again, GREAT REVIEW!!!
Thank you for reviewing this figure. You did a great job, but there are just some issues that i can't get past. If they would have spent more than 12 days designing the figure, the could have designed the legs better. i see so much possibility in the unused plastic that was part of the handle that could have easily been utilized to fill out the legs better. i know there are rumors floating as to what the next MP's will be, i just hope the ones about a new updated Megatron are true. At least we do know a third party is tackling it and i will be watching that with much interest. Once again thanks for taking the time to review this, i will make sure to come back and watch it whenever i am tempted to get it, because it reminds me why i skipped this back then.
Really if it only took 12 days to engineer this then the price should be a lot lower. When you buy a figure you pay for the time it took to make it and the materials. I am really disappointed about this figure. When I saw you posted this video, I thought it was a new mold but ooo well. In my opinion this is the best Megatron figure by looks alone that you can transform. I haven't seen to many other Megatron figures though. Hopefully there will be a new mold in the near future. It is possible because off gun regulations they simply can't make it better and stay within the guidelines.
***** I looked up a video on that figure and I think that one looks like a win. The legs look a lot better then the mp-5's legs. Thanks for sharing that.
as always, great videos sir! it has almost become a standard procedure for me to visit your channel and watch your reviews before i make any purchasing decision on these awesome transformers figure!
Nice review. I think it only took them 12 days because they looked at the original toy and just worked on making it more stable. I had a ko version of the G1 toy and it transformed basically the same way. I would still like to get one to display next to my mp-1 Prime
Marchel van Leeuwen That had nothing to do with it. It seems as if another designer was in charge of it for a while and didn't come through for whatever reason. It was then handed off to the person who did the final design. There wasn't a lot of information at the time about the figure, including how big it was suppose to be. So it was definitely a rush job
Good review by the way, it's a first time I've seen a review do a thorough Transformation on MP Megatron, most reviewers wouldn't bother showing the ridiculously hard transformation on camera I'm definitely giving you a thumbs up just for that.
Seems to be a lot of Megatron going on recently..... this reissue, MP Soundwave had the Megatron gun, the upcoming MP11 Skywarp has one..... a third party company is doing their own MP Megs..... could we possibly (finally) be getting a new MP Megatron? I do hope we do.......
And as you said about the MP01 having a reissue right before we got MP10 is another thing I thought.... come on Takara, be a bro and give us a new Megatron inscale with MP10 and the others
optibotimus, good review as usual, will you be reviewing MX-I Apollyon by Xtransbots any time soon? With a release date of December, the test shots should be coming out soon right? I am hoping that BBTS will let you do it, any news on the actual release date?
Thank you for the great review! I do like the look of him in gold. Now here's the million dollar question. Does he come packaged in robot or gun mode. Because I'd love to put him on display in robot mode but I personally have no interest in trying to transform him. Also I wish they'd give us an MP Galvatron! That would be awesome and fit with Rodimus. They probably would have an Easy'er time making him and dealing with the darn gun laws. As always thanks for the review.
This figure is the epitome of: 'You can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter'
Thank god mp 36 is a thing...
I hope your talking about XTB Apollyon. I would love toe see a review of that by you.
who would not want a gold masterpiece megatron? dude you have to grow up or down maybe?
Some people can't get their hands on an MP-05 without spending ridiculous amounts of money.

I needed this review 4 years later to transform a MP-5 I received today. Thank you!!
And I needed it two years later, still. To transformer the MP-5 _I_ received today.
After you’ve transformed this guy a couple times it’s really not as bad as everybody makes out.
33:27 ! Gerwalk gun mode!!! Great review, I've heard about how he was but never watched the transformation until now.
This DOES kinda look like Megatron when he bathed in the Electrum Pool (The Gold Lagoon)
Long video! Just what I was looking for. I was kind of stuck transforming this guy.
Thanks to your detailed look I was able to get him into Walther P38 mode. I honestly really like this Megatron. Looking forward to more of your reviews!
Would love to see a mp g2 tank version to go g2 sideswipe. It would scale better.

man optibotimus I give you huge props for not just throwing it at the wall out of frustration lol
Right now, receiving My MP-5G today, It did come with the little reflector camera.
Hi optbotimus, where did you get the information about the dificulties to redo a new mp-10 scaled megatron for Takara? (minute 27). Thanks!!
Martin Serrano Where did you hear that from? I hadn't heard that once.
***** Look it up from the Transformers Wiki, please. They can tell you everything you need. Just look for the Micro Change page.
When I saw the gun mode, it reminded me of The Man With The Golden Gun... Could be that there,s a little homage to that hidden somewhere in the figure... :D
Thanks for your video. Excellent transforming from Gun to Alt to Gun guide. It made my MP-05 transform a little easier.
Optibotimus the man with the golden gun great review as always
You still haven't finished TFC Toys Uranos. I've put off all other reviews so I could watch yours. Please do it, please?

Wow! Feet aren't rusty form the beginning! That's an improvement.
great review, just think how many Megatrons u've saved.
I hoped for this review for so long
Several things come to my mind when I see this figure:

1.) Looks like King Midas touched it.
2.) Reminds me of those "Gold Guns" that you would unlock in CoD.
3.) A certain Austin Powers villain would go *GA-GA* over him.

So, Optibotimus. It’s been 5 years. How was the gold stuff held up?
I thought gps had to do with gold flakes in the plastic, not swirls?
Truly you are The Man with the Golden Gun.
Paul, I'm sure you have heard this before but I blame you for getting me back into collecting Transformers again. I love these masterpieces, even with some of their flaws, however I just got my hands on some near perfect G1 bots and it's like a second childhood. Awesome review. Keep up the good work.

I love MP Megatron. As long as you NEVER try to transform him... Hours of misery.
Just wondering but when the retailer's put the orange plug on the gun can u take it off or is it like glued on?? Gr8 review.
Glued because they don't want people trying to rob stores with toy guns so they put orange caps on them so people can tell.
Russool Mishir That sucks but Thx anyways.
I know, I hate it too

I have to say I would love to see a rescale of it, but it does look a whole lot better than the G1 version did. At least in the robot form anyway
It looks like it's a Repaint of the original one, but I do like the accessories it came with.
I honestly would love an MP version of the g2 tank Megatron if the gun laws prevent them from doing the g1 alt mode.
Does any body know the name of the Transformer song that Optibotimus puts at the beginning of the videos?
If you want a frame of reference, a real Walther P38 is 8.6 in long, 5.4 in tall, and 1.16 in at its widest. It has a 4.9 in barrel.
from what I remember, the transformation looks almost the same as the original G1 figure from 84/85. That one was a mess too.

I looked up a video on that figure and I think that one looks like a win. The legs look a lot better then the mp-5's legs. Thanks for sharing that.
Does he have gold plastic syndrone?
can you take the orange tip off?
as always, great videos sir! it has almost become a standard procedure for me to visit your channel and watch your reviews before i make any purchasing decision on these awesome transformers figure!
I know why it's gold remember the episode with the gold lagoon and megatron goes in it
How expensive was this figure?
Has the original gone down in price?
Nice review. I think it only took them 12 days because they looked at the original toy and just worked on making it more stable. I had a ko version of the G1 toy and it transformed basically the same way. I would still like to get one to display next to my mp-1 Prime
Marchel van Leeuwen That had nothing to do with it. It seems as if another designer was in charge of it for a while and didn't come through for whatever reason. It was then handed off to the person who did the final design. There wasn't a lot of information at the time about the figure, including how big it was suppose to be. So it was definitely a rush job
***** ok i didn't know that.
You can remove the orange cap if you want
Good review by the way, it's a first time I've seen a review do a thorough Transformation on MP Megatron, most reviewers wouldn't bother showing the ridiculously hard transformation on camera I'm definitely giving you a thumbs up just for that.
I just watched the Krimzeek episode today so i found that really cool lol.
What was that music u had in the beginning?
***** is the gold mp megs still fragile and breakable?
Which would you recommend more? This or MP-10?
What does GPS mean? Pretty new to watching toy videos so I'm not up-to-date with the terminology.
iamfiefo It stands for "gold plastic syndrome".
Thanks! Enjoyed your vid by the way. Really hoping they make a new version of this!
Love my messy mp-05... But yeah, he's staying in robot mode forever!
So, what have we all learned today class? These figures are to be DISPLAYED, not t be PLAYED WITH...
Dismissed.
P.S.
Great review.
Should I get this? its going for 80 on bbts atm
gold and black do work nice optibotimus
