RIP Gordon Lightfoot. My grandpa (Jack Zaza) played in the studio with him a few times and he gushed about how lovely he was to work with. He would always retell one story about how Gordon paid him way more than he owed him simply because he appreciated his ideas so much, and I think he was always very flattered by that. I think maybe they knew each other from performing in restaurants or radio together or something like that (when Gordon played the drums), but I can’t remember. Anyway, this is all to say that I’ve always had the highest respect for Gordon Lightfoot from what my grandpa told me over the years.
You play Gordon so well! He will always hold a special place in my heart (as well as many others, I'm sure) as an artist I listened to fondly with my parents. I'm sure one day you'll leave similar mark on this earth as Gordon has, Carson
I'm a big fan of your voice Carson. If anyone doubted Gordon produced a masterpiece with this one - musically and lyrically - your superbly sublime, sincere delivery has convinced them.
Lightfoot is one of my favorite folk artists, and as are you, so your cover of this tune makes me so happy! You give this song justice, beautiful tribute!
Beautiful. A Gordon Lightfoot masterpiece, for sure. I have this posted on my channel since he passed. His concerts are something I will never forget. Thanks so much for this. Rest in peace Mr. Lightfoot.
I remember when this album came out (Summertime Dream 1976) It struck me at a very impressionable time in my youth. Such fond memories. You honored this song beautifully. Thank you.
One of the greatest songwriters I have ever come across. So many iconic lines but my personal favourite is "and if time could heal the wounds, I would tear the threads away, that I might bleed some more" from The Last Time I Saw Her. One of the greats, and even then I'd say he was criminally underrated. Brilliant cover as always Carson.
I’ve listened to all of about 10 seconds of this and am already smitten 🥰 once again. Carson, you are the man. All thanks to Gordon, for sharing his songs with us for so long, and all thanks to you, Carson, for keeping them alive.
I hope one day to hear you and Madison Cunningham cover Tom Waits' "I Never Talk to Strangers" Your voice is so gorgeous and you use it so skillfully. Love your music💙🦋
I’ve always been a huge fan of Gordon Lightfoot and was able to see him in concert last summer. I’m so glad I had that chance! This is a beautiful cover ❤
Hi Emily I hope my comment didn't sound as a form of privacy invasion your comment tells of a wonderful woman with a beautiful heart which led me to comment I don't normally write in the comment section but I think you deserve this compliment. If you don’t mind can we be friends? Thanks God bless you….🌹🌹
Carson, I really appreciate your musical sensitivity and touch. It puzzles me a little why The Other Favorites haven't tackled a Gordon Lightfoot cover yet (at least if you have, I haven't managed to find it posted anywhere). This is beautiful.

I had a Gordan Lightfoot songbook years back I started playing , Your Beautiful, what awesome songs and beautiful melodies was what Gordan was all about!
Well done! Great song by Lightfoot and well performed by Carson. Love the simple location, depth of field set correctly to blur background subjects and the audio was spot on. Great job, Carson!
There are many Lightfoot songs like this one that were never mainstream hits but are gems waiting to be unearthed. Try “Saturday Clothes” from the If you Could Read My Mind album.
Thank you Carson for this wonderful memory of Gordon Lightfoot. I associate him with the beginning of the nineties, when I discovered his record Cold On The Shoulder at home (my parents bought it back in the days of communism and it looked like they didn't even play it - maybe because it was a rare, western product and it had to be saved: -)) and it was as if a new world had opened up to me. It was a very sad May 1st this year. Thank you from Prague

Making all those high-end and yuppie vintage gear-heads cry, hearing you knock this out of the park with a zoom recorder. Superb, as usual.
Wonderful, lovely delivery Carson.
Didn't expect to see you here! Good taste :)

A North Carolina summer in ode to Gordon. A beautiful rendition my friend.

I love Gordon and have been looking forward to your tribute to him. You did it beautifully!
Gordon will be smiling!
As always, you sang beautifully. A man, a guitar, and a stool that's all you need, much like the late great Don Williams.
You are a wonderful singer, Carson. Also in this song your presentation is even more touching than the original... ! Please go on!
I had a Gordan Lightfoot songbook years back I started playing , Your Beautiful, what awesome songs and beautiful melodies was what Gordan was all about!
