      Just remember to skim off some at the shoulder seam NECKLINE edge, NOT the exterior edge of the facing. Let me know how it works.

    Thank you Londa, this is valuable. I created a pattern for a cropped jacket with a collar and a facing at the back, but there was something bothering me the whole time once the garment was finished. Now I know exactly what my "common sense" method lacked🥰. I have also recently learned about "backstitching" I think it is called. It seems to lift the front part and hide the facing from sight. Does this have the same effect or do you do it in addition?

      Is this backstitching by hand or machine? I'm thinking if it is by machine, I call it Understitching, where one stitches through the seam allowance (graded properly of course) to the UNDER collar. Otherwise, I've never done anything additional. The principle of trimming the undercollar as shown above is what wo

      @@londasews You are absolutely right, understitching. I will start making a list of these terms. Learnt the basics of sewing years ago from my Gran. I am now 58 and trying to catch up. Obviously still a lot to learn. Thank you for always reaponding🥰
