So, here's Arizona in a nutshell...I've been here since early 2000...before covid there actually were plenty of jobs, they're all low paying though...BUT, if you're used to making minimum wage then $10-15 an hour probably does sound good to you...but realistically that's extremely low pay compared to other states, my ex works as a mechanical engineer and pretty much travels to other states to work because Arizona is not meant to cater to the income of people with careers...unless you're an entrepreneur....and another reality is unless you come here with a mate, ladies don't expect too many Black men to be checking for you...unless, you're actually doing something with your life...I'm so sick of sistas moving here then complaining how Black men don't want them...be about your business if you move here to Arizona bottom line..this is a dog eat dog state and you better know how to swim...the mexicans don't like blacks, the whites don't like blacks, hell...many of the blacks don't like other blacks...there's a ton of things to do here, it just depends on what you're in to...I'm a freelance photographer and filmmaker so I'm constantly out at venues marketing and meeting people...I'm from Kansas City and my mate is from Flint...this is a state where you better know how to do for self...period
Thank for a realistic overview this was helpful.
Wwwooowww that's all I needed to hear Thankyou so much
*** Two snaps... You told it like tissss (lol) thanks for the info.
I've been out here for 17 years I couldn't of said it any better
Everything u said is 1000% accurate. I visited last week and I noticed all of that. I've also done a ton of research too. But yea I didnt see alot of Black men and the fine ones I did see walked right past my ass lol🤷♀️I met one Black dude here...he was young & NOT my type
Seeing so many Black women sharing their desire to move to AZ is inspiring. Thank you for this video Deja!! I am hoping to move in December to either Pheonix or Scottsdale
what does being black have anything to do with her sharing why she moved to AZ?
@@josiahmartinez8957 It is an understanding between Black women
Congratulations 🍾 you’ve been here for 6 years now. My lady and I, moved from Chicago to Arizona back in January 2021. We had only $3,500.00, no crib to go to, no job, nothing but each other and a plan to start at a temp while we’re in the hotel. We looked at a map of the United States and said where we driving to 😂 but frfr we did. Arizona is so mf beautiful 🤩. We were feeling so stuck and trapped in Chicago that depression was normal. Now we’re doing our thang and I’ve bought a motorcycle as my everyday and my lady whipping our truck.
Side note 📝. These mfs real live can’t fuckin drive out here 😠😡🤬. I definitely would recommend moving here, just leave that lame ass bullshit back in your state and come here and be yourself with good vibrations only.
How is it going so far? Are you able to easily find an apartment or house?
Hi I'm looking to move to AZ from Chicago. What areas would you reccomend to a female barber
I'm really ready to go?
Currently looking into moving to Arizona from Chicago !!!
Omg😂😅 reading this was the best!! Happy for you and your lil family- greatful to see/ hear about the changes!! Sending yall blessings and love✨🌊🌐🧿
The fact that I came across this video is God. I moved to Detroit from Illinois BECAUSE OF CHRYSLER... And I’ve always wanted to move to AZ. I just feel like it’s going to be hard to find a starting pay job at $30 a hour with no degree 😭 but I’m relying on Gods word and my faith. God put me in Michigan for now. But I hope he puts me in AZ in the near future cause this plant life got my back and knees feeling like I’m 85 🥴🤣
The knees feeling like you’re 85 had me dying laughing 😂😂 but, Heyy thank you for watching my video I appreciate it. I agree 💯 because it definitely will be hard to find a job paying $30 a hour without an degree . & honestly that’s my struggle right now sometimes I wish I had went to school but other times I’m like nah, I’m chasing my dream I’m going to get where I want to be it just takes hardwork and patience. I’m actually now wanting to relocate to Texas or Atlanta I need more culture and AZ lacks that! I’m going to upload another video giving an update on how I feel about Arizona.
But I hope AZ is in your plans and good luck with everything 💜
Create your own business with your own idea.
@@DejaUnique thanks so much I really appreciate it 😌
@@DejaUnique You're not enjoying Arizona as much?
🤭🤭🤭@your back and knees. I'm from Michigan and recently relocated to AZ, I worked for Chrysler for 2½ years and finally left because I realized that's how they trap us. They entice us with great pay and bonuses and decent benefits then you feel like you can't leave because you won't make the same kind of money elsewhere. For me, there were other things that were more important, for instance my back and knees staying strong and healthy lol. That plant life was not worth it for me. I don't regret my decision to leave one bit. Good luck with your next move and remember you only get one body, TAKE CARE OF IT! 😉✌🏾💚
I'm an introvert anyway so I'm not concerned with making instant friends cause I'm all about quality over quantity anyway. And I don't let people in easy myself so I'm convinced whoever I encounter I won't have a problem with cause I'm coming optimistic with good vibes. I feel like God is directing me here for a reason. I love the vibe from just looking at the atmosphere and landscaping. I also feel a strong spiritual presence that's attracting me to AZ!
Thank god for this video! I lived in Arizona in 2019-2021 I moved back to my home town in 2021 worst decision ever ! I can tell you one thing as a black person having that openness environment, space , nature and let’s not forget the sun man I truly think it’s a great place for black people . If you want to mind your business and just live a to yourself lifestyle then you can do that but if you’re a entrepreneur and go getter you have the options to go meet those high 5-7 figure income makers. Arizona changed my perspective on life and I think it’s my home. 2023 the goal is to move back and get back on finding my purpose
Do you have kids? What state you coming from if you don’t mind telling? My daughters are my main concern, other than that I would have left yesterday. We are from Philadelphia so i know it will be different but they are under 5 so they will adjust. To be in the sun for most of the year is a dream. Palm trees make me happy lol
Thank you so much. I needed this badly. You are loved, blessing to you 💜
Been in AZ since '73...this is educational. I have noticed over the years, folks are shocked that move from rust belt, how wages are lower here. And high demand is driving up prices like crazy too. If youre from CA and sell your house, you live like a king here for a period of time. Best of luck to the move ins. If you can stand the summers you'll be fine!
I’m glad that you decided to move here and wish you the best and hopefully you decide to make this your permanent home, this is such a beautiful city and state
Yes girl! It felt like we were talking to each other while watching this video! I was hyping you ip. And you were hyping me up! NEEDED that energy!!! Thank you for sharing ♥️
I’m an introvert also, moving to Phoenix next month. Mostly concerned about the lack of diversity & racism than where I’m from but you gave me hope that I’ll be okay, thanks for sharing💕
*Update: I’ve been here since last Sunday and so far so good! Most people have been cool others not so much. I had black, Hispanic and white Uber drivers and the black one was not friendly at all, didn’t even speak when I got in and did not say anything when I said to have a great day but it doesn’t bother me, the other two were very nice and welcomed me to AZ and even gave tips. As I stated I am an introvert so I haven’t had much public interaction other than Walmart/neighbors but like she stated if you’re an extrovert I can see how you would have a hard time.
I will say when I moved here it was definitely a culture shock for me . But, if you have a Facebook it’s a bunch of groups here that will be very helpful you can email me or message me on social media so we can talk more & congratulations on your move ❤️
Born and raised here. The racism is stressful. To the point I avoid stores
@@winternight6384 wow, I actually move into my place next Sunday & from what I’ve heard from not only you but others, I’ll probably be avoiding public places also because Ian got time to catch no assault charges lol thank you for that info

Hey Deja! Thank you for this confirmation! I’m originally from Saginaw Michigan but currently live in Texas and been here for 10 years and have been thinking about moving to Phoenix since last fall. You just made me feel at peace about this possible move because my move to Texas was a faith move. I moved here with $800 only. Thank you 🙏🏾
Heyyy! Thank you for watching my video . & that’s crazy because now I’m thinking about moving to Texas or Atlanta. I’ve been in Arizona since 2015 and I truly think I’ve out grown the place I need more culture in my life. & the cost of living is constantly going up. But you’re welcome good luck with everything 💜

Same! I'm a truck driver from Colorado. I've been through multiple cities but Phoenix is the only city so far where I felt at home. And I normal feel home sick from other places.

Welcome to beautiful Arizona. We moved to AZ from Denver and it was one of the best life decisions we've made.
I’m from Denver and I’m thinking about moving to Phoenix too! Denver is too expensive
@@victoriaarmstrong6498 yes definitely way too expensive in denver. Although Phoenix is heading that direction its gotten more expensive here the last couple of years but its still more affordable then denver and a Phoenix is a better city IMO
what part of arizona and are you renting
Yes, I moved to Phoenix from Florida in 2018 because I was tired of doing the same thing over and over. I need something new. I knew nothing about Phoenix. I had only passed through Phoenix on a vacation. One day I was like I am moving there. I packed everything and moved there with only $200 including gas. I honestly do not know how I have survived almost 3years here. I will say the job opportunities here are endless. My brother moved here and got a job offer the next day. It happens. Phoenix matured me. I got back into teaching and now I am working to build my credit up. The cons about Phoenix is the taxes and the non existent dating scene.
I moved here from FL too last year. I need the change too. I love it here minus the dating scene like you mentioned lol
YUP most brothers go Mexican or White.
Hey I just moved to Arizona in August from Cleveland Ohio and my time here has been lovely. With all the help from God he push me into a new path of life. You look like a nice person I don’t have social media because I would of asked you for your number to hang and get to know one another, I’m taking a leap of faith with this one and I was taught close mouth don’t get feed. I just think maybe we can text or hang out and get to know one another. Girl I literally have no one here besides my boyfriend I just need female friends. I attached my email @ shimekayoung92@gmail.com if you like maybe you can email me and we can exchange numbers. 💜

Hi Deja, I just seen your Video, so glad that you made that move to Arizona. It's such a Beautiful place, with the Mountains, Palm Trees, and so many things too do. I lived in Arizona for eight years and it was an adjustment in the beginning, but once i got used to living there it was great. My wife and I moved to Virginia in 2017, mainly because she couldn't get used to the extreme heat in the summer months, but I would move back in a heartbeat if given the chance again.
Hey I'm currently in Virginia and thinking about moving to Arizona. Do you think it'll be a smooth transition? Is it alot different? I'm originally from NYC though.
@@strangefruit2438 It depends on what part of Arizona you want to move to. My wife and I lived in Phoenix, which is now the fifth largest metro area in the U.S. and still growing. I also grew up on the east coast, Philadelphia, so it was a little bit of a transition moving to a western city in the desert where summer temperatures average around 110 degrees, but like everyone used to say there, IT'S A DRY HEAT!! With that being said if you want to move to a big city and heat does not bother you that much you should be fine. Tucson is a couple of hours south and is home to the University Of Arizona, and has a college town vibe. North of Phoenix you have Prescott, Sedona, and Flagstaff which are much cooler in the summer, but more expensive than Phoenix, which is affordable to live in. Hope this helps a little to and kind of breaks things down a little, but there is much more to the state than I can list here.

Me & my spouse are considering moving to AZ. I have a few family members there, but they would be living in a different part. I am a little nervous about meeting people and having a sense of community for me and my little family. Wish us luck!
