This is the only video I've seen that admits the folding is hard. I've seen tons of videos, and mostly young, strong men, make it look easy. Thanks I don't feel like an old weakling anymore.
Hi! It’s definitely not the easiest.. I remember it took me about 20 minutes the first time round. It did get a lot easier after finding what works for me. Hope the video helped with some tips!
This was sooo helpful. I just got a tucktec and I couldn't get the side clips to line up! I could only get two of them and I was thinking about returning it because I couldn't get it. I'll now be trying the push and pull method you shared, thank you!
@@Fishaholicboy I also love your vids with the Pakayak. I'm going to enjoy the Tucktec thoroughly then decide if upgrading to the Pakayak is worth the $$. Thank you for well produced and informative vids!
Thanks so much for this very detailed tutorial, especially about the side clamps (over and down) and positioning of the seat. My first TT was a kickstarter so at this point the plasticity is fine but yesterday with the arrival of new new one, whew!! Your video and my hair dryer made all the difference. I appreciate your skills in coaching us all!
Hi! Really happy this video has helped! I remember my first time doing the assembly and it wasn’t the easiest process until my third to fourth try. Really wanted to share tips with everyone. Hope you’re having great adventures with your tucktecs :)
Hi! I haven’t actually used an anchor but I know people use it for fishing. They use those mini anchors and seen them on Amazon. Hope you have lots of fun with the Tucktec!
Hello. Thank you for the video. A question, when you put the cotter pin in, is it top to bottom. It seems to hit and rub the side of the kayak. Is that normal??
Hi Randi! Thanks for watching. I don't have the Tucktec in front of me at the moment but is your Tucktec the same version as mine? I'm trying to picture what you are mentioning. To make it easier, can you send me a picture of what you mean? My email is in the "About" section of my UA-cam page :)
Well Tucktec should pay you . Their video is crap, yours has great camera work and description demo. I got nothing from their video. I just got my kayak and I am not able to put it together
Thank you for the video, very helpful. As you note, I am having. lots of trouble with the side folds. I am considering using a clamping plier to get more force on the clamp, and addleverage through additional length. Is this a fatal idea, or does it have possibiliites?
Answering my own question. Be careful! the extra leverage can (and did) bend the "bar". fortunately I did not bend it enough to prevent the lock from working. What REALLY helped was the blow driyer heat on the plastic!
Hope the video helped! Not so sure about the pliers as I haven’t used one. If you can get leverage from three points, it should work! But you may have a different version to mine
I live in a larger city where I can put into a river channel a couple minutes from my house. I presume the river is quite dirty do you think I should spend the 50 bucks and get a portable hose to rinse it down after each use? Also do you towel dry it before wrapping it up?
The hose definitely helps.. my friend uses the portable washer/hose after the trip but it doesn’t clean everything. Saltwater lingers if not washed properly. I also wash the kayak in the shower while it is folded and leave it to dry. I have a video here: How I clean my Tucktec Folding Kayak ua-cam.com/video/tsP9Kz6QgEE/v-deo.html
Hi and thanks, Fishaholicboy for sharing. Since I don't own a folding kayak, I have some silly questions to ask. First of all, you suggest using a hair dryer to ease the stiffness of the material. Most of the hair dryers have a short cable though. How much heat is this material able to take? Sometimes, the hair dryer can heat up really hot. and nobody wants a folding kayak to be melted down...😭At last, I would like to know the max weight that a folding kayak can hold. I can google the official weight limit, but considering high waves and choppy water..🤔. I really like your acting career@6:30. 😁 Your videos are always well-informative and also well-instructive. Great work and keep it up. 🙋♀
Hi! I wouldn’t use the hair dryer for long periods of time.. just to warm it up enough to make it easier to fold. But of course it can only be done indoors if using a dryer :)
@@greyscout01 Hi, Grey Scout How are you? I have been looking forward to your new videos, but haven't seen any yet...hiding somewhere?? kidding. Nice to hear you.🙋♀🙋♀🛶🛶
Really happy that this video helped! I’m sure there’s many other tips out there but these were the ones I could think of after using it on so many trips
How about put two banana shape floats into each side of the tucktec (length from bow to stern), make it unsinkable and can get back into the boat if flipped over?
I’ve seen people use the floats on the sides and it looks good! The only thing I would say is that it would make the kayak wider so it’s not as easy to paddle unless you have a longer paddle :)
Hi! I didn’t really used the footrest much because just as you mentioned, it doesn’t stay put. One way is to tie a knot to stop the footrest from slipping but getting it undone and be difficult at the end of the trip and having put a lot of pressure on the footrest
@@FishaholicboyAlso what is the proper way to set the rudder. Is it supposed to be hanging downwards or straight? I was thinking the proper way would be downwards kind of like on a Viking ship or trireme
@@namesomega3694 Hi! In the water, it should be down in the water to help to keep the Tucktec from going straight. I put it up when I’m on land so it doesn’t scratch.
