    Awesome Joe! I was going to buy a few, but they were gone, I have bought a few 32700's to add to my 12v bank, and to build a lawnmower battery, to power my ATV winch, and lights, I don't know if my mower does more than a couple amps, I know if I start it a few times without it running a while, it takes forever to charge, the winch would probably kill it while running! I built about a 24ah battery, I still need to test, but seems good, I have about 40 all together! The 5ah are a better deal, they test at near 6ah, (5700-5800) I heard, keep on keeping on!!

    I just finished testing 10 of 16. All within spec so far. Only thing I didn't like was the terminals not being flat, but I bent a few copper washers to fit and I feel better for no good reason. I believe these are made in the USA as well. I'll probably pickup more for my lab packs, if bigger ones become available at a reasonable price I'd be all over some 120->280s.

    I know this video is over a year old, but I wanted 40 of these cells so bad. At the time, I wanted to put 10 in parallel and make a really sick 12v battery that would be great for jump starting cars, or it could had been used to power a really powerful car audio application, or you could reconfigure it to 24v or 48v and run any inverter you need to run. These little cells were freaking perfect for any application you can think of. Probably the most versatile cells I've seen with the ability to pump out 3c to 5c in short bursts. Too bad I missed out on these, but I was in the hospital with a pulmonary embolism that very nearly killed me, so there was absolutely no way I could had been buying batteries, or working on said batteries. I guess ill have to keep looking around for cells with similar capabilities and capacity. Too bad A123 is no more. They made insanely capable 26650 cells and pouch cells. 2500mAh cells that were able to output 50 amps each is what I wanted for my projects. I don't need 1000 Ah of Lifepo4, I only need maybe 25Ah, but I need the cells to be able to pump out All the amps.

      100% agree!! I tried to get more but could never get any. I have since gottn some 280ah cells. So jfyi, battery hookup usually gets the cells or has them in stock. They are in blue now and not green. Same specs!

      @@AveRage_Joe I forgot to mention that Custom Electric Services, aka CES is another good website to check out. They sell 80Ah LTO batteries put together in nice cases, and they make extremely high output Alternators for producing lots pf power with your car. There's a couple really popular car audio sites, like Toolmaker that make beautiful CNC bus bars out of polished Billet Aluminum or Copper. I follow a UA-cam channel called Parker the Basshead, and he is doing a build right now with 8 -- 15 inch subwoofers and over 50 of the 8Ah Headway 38120HP cells with a huge, Beautiful set of Aluminum bus bars. Its a sexy sight to see with the cells all together with the polished Aluminum bus bars. Check it out if you get a chance. Its part 6 of his current build, so it will be easy to find here on UA-cam

    You get a like just because of the shocked look when seeing the price of metric fasteners. I had to buy a 16mm by like 2.5" bolt and the sucker was over $7.00! That's why we don't go metric here.
    From a purely usefulness point of view, I would make a small 12 volt pack out of these and use it for 9 dozen things I need out at the farm, such as the sprayer, fuel and water transfer pumps, 12 volt fridge, and the entertainment system. I do need to build a bigger pack for my portable winch which would need to be able to discharge at around 300A for 15 minutes continuous.

    For the regenerative discharge to the SLA battery, I have the ToolKitRC M8 which has the regenerative discharge and I want to make the battery pack for my bench with a "top dump" added to it. That way it will charge until it gets to the full voltage and will trigger a resistive load to drain off the extra power. That way under normal conditions the power will get used up in whatever loads I have on the battery and for any higher battery discharges with the M8 it will dump the rest as heat

    If you just got one and paired it with a USB power bank module with decent boosts capabilities for v9/V12 volt fast charge.. it would make make a awesome power bank... But USB power bank modules are designed for lithium polymer or lithium ion.. so it be hard to find one that's po4 . but thought it was a cool idea and would be really cheap.. also with type c you can deliver a lot of wattage when it comes to charging.. over 100 watts is common.. my power bank is huge but it takes 8/10 hours to charge and with a maximum charging power of 20 Watts. Slow af. 😐

      Yes they are 25ah each. The amp hours stay the same when you series the batteries together for example a 12v battery. 4 in series would still be 25ah. If you add in parallel is when the amp hours go up. For example if you wanted a 12v 100ah battery you would need 16 batteries. 4 sets of 4. Does that help?

    Battery Hookup does not seem to have the Navitas cells in stock now. Are TopBand cells pretty much equivalent?
    I would like to put together a 48volt 20AH (or more) battery pack for my motorino xpe electric scooter. I haven't worked with LIFEPO4 batteries in the past - are prismatic batteries okay for this type of (sit down) scooter? Also, you mention bolts - can you reply with the specific name of the bolts so I can search for them on-line. I presume I need a BMS - do you have any thoughts on the specific of a BMS needed to create 48V (actually 51.2 volts)? Do I need a special case? Is there anything else I should be thinking about? Is BOOM discount still available?

    I'm building a 4S6P pack with 24 of these batteries. I'm trying to top charge 6 batteries in parallel using an ICharger 3010B. As in your ICharger X6, the 3010B can supposedly charge at up to 30A. When I received the Navitas batteries, they were at around 3.29V. I set the charger to charge at 15A, but charger only put out around 4A initially, decreasing even further as the batteries charge. When the charger stopped charging, the battery voltage only measured around 3.33V. I expected fully-charged battery voltage closer to 3.6V. I'm wondering whether something's wrong with my charger, or maybe something going on with the batteries.
    What fully-charge voltage are you getting on your batteries?

    • @AveRage_Joe
      @AveRage_Joe  3 роки тому

      On my icharger I can set the charge voltage for lifepo4 to 3.65v. If your charger is set to the "normal" charge voltage then 3.3 or 3.4v is normal and thats why you only saw the 4a charge. If the cells were lower voltage then you may see the 30a. Are you able to manually change the charge voltage on that charger?

    • @ptmoy1
      @ptmoy1 3 роки тому

      @@AveRage_Joe Yes I can. After changing to 3.65V, maximum charge current was 1A higher. It maxed out at around 5A. It's still charging at the moment. Currently, battery voltage is 3.336V. Do you remember what your individual battery voltages were when the charge current went down to around 5A?

    When you measure the Ohms, do you make sure the meter reads "0" when you connect the leads to each other? Otherwise, the readings will be off slightly. Also, moving the wire while reading can change the readings, as well. This is one reason the readings may have bounced between like 5 and 6 Ohms, for example.

I think having medium capacity cells is better than very high capacity, because eventually they are going to die, and you will likely loose 1-2, with smaller cells, you can reconfigure, and keep going, although with less capacity, but if you are off grid, keeping the lights on can be important!

    At 14:55 you say they're kinda expensive at $155/kWh.
    Compared to other _new_ prismatic cells they're a bargain, costing half their competitors.
    I bought 128 for a 10kWh addition to my house's battery bank

      I should have broken it down. I was refering to $100 or less per kwh for 18650s like many of us had built in the past. You are correct tho!🤘

    Aye Joe............... I see you went really nuts . I am scratching my nut head because I bought 32 0f them and no nuts. So I may go nuts trying to find some nuts. Fortunately they not arrived yet in my home country. They are still in Miami. In the mean time, I am trying to make bus bars but cannot complete it because I do not know the size of the terminals and all that . I want to get another 32 and make a 48 volt 100AH battery for my 4000w inverter. So I will look to you to learn a bit.
