Excellent advice. I actually watched this several months before my summit attempt and the gaiters and rain gear saved my trek! Gaiters were a must. But so was the high quality rain gear.

Great video. I leave in 2 days for my solo Rongai climb. I was planning on a full moon summit night, but the flights made me move it to 2 days later. I imagine it should still be fairly bright

I am actually from around that mountain and hopefully, before the end of next year, I'll go scale it. So I have been thru many videos but yours is very simple to unpack.

I think that brand u love (Katmandu) is a low quality store brand only available in Oz.

We love anything that works in tough conditions. Kathmandu has cheap options and higher end options that have been designed for a purpose. We don't favour any brand, we just use what works and what's available to us. :)
      Happy hiking!

    Thank you !

@@sarahsander8967 Hey Sarah, sorry for the delayed response, UA-cam hasn't been showing us the replies to comments!
Bec didn't use a shewee, although it may have helped in some areas! The toilets that are at some of the camps are an absolute experience! hahaha A shewee might make you more portable and able to avoid going in them. :)
      Good luck on your summit!

Great content here! Did you do training and fitness prep before going to this trip?

Thanks so much Mae! We did a little bit of specific mountain walking, but nothing too serious. It's honestly quite an easy mountain to climb. The main thing we did were long distance walks to make sure we were used to being on our feet for hours everyday. We also were a little concerned with how we would feel with altitude, so we did some sessions in an altitude chamber training centre. But I honestly think if you're hiking regularly already and you have a strong mental will, you will be fine! It's basically a trail walk until you get to summit attempt. Then it becomes difficult. :)
