the clouds hate my lighting
list of albums in video (spoiler)
the pillows - happy bivouac
おとぼけビ~バ~ (otoboke beaver) - いてこまヒッツ (itekoma hits)
きのこ帝国 (kinoko teikoku) - 渦になる (uzu ni naru)
shinsei kamattechan - tsumanne (神聖かまってちゃん - つまんね)
sheena ringo (椎名 林檎) - shoso strip (勝訴ストリップ)

ミドリ midori - あらためまして、はじめまして、ミドリです。 (Aratamemashite, hajimemashite, Midori desu.)
The Pillows and Shinsei Kamattechan being there sparks joy. The absence of AKFG does not spark joy.
which akfg album deserves it
GOD TIER ALBUMS from kinoko teikoku, sheena ringo, motfd, and dead gf was enough to make me love the video but then you put my favorite midori album in number 1 im salivating
Thank god Haru To Shura at least made the honorable mentions, fav album all time
mine too!!
I voted for tsumanne knowing that that would be the album everyone will pick, so that it would win (it did lol) but if i was honest i would've said tanoshiine or minna shine for skc. Minna shine in particular is basically a perfect collection of the catchiest, ear-splitting pop songs ever. nice list
めっちゃセンスあって好きだわ
The Pillowsが10位の時点で察した
めちゃくちゃ最高👍
got this recommended under a fishmans song
Just found your channel, really cool video +1 sub. Gonna listen to some of those albums that I didnt listen to yet. And its cool to see Haru Nemuri, MDG and Ichiko Aoba in honorable mentions. If I could do a fast view on albums Im currently listening non-stop It would be probably Luv(sic) Hexalogy - Nujabes, Her abinding memory - Pitcher56, qp - Ichiko Aoba, Super Champon - Otoboke Beaver, aratamemashite - midori, Spool - Spool, paddle ship - tiny yawn, Love Trip - Takako Mamiya... theres so many other artists I could talk about, but I must control myself 😅
what the hell none of my mori calliope votes made it in???
i'm shocked
@@paruko39 #justiceformori
Best rapper of all time 🐐🔥
It’s here!!
銀杏BOYZ mentioned, good list
Number 1 for me would be Gauge Means Nothing. Also check Nitro Mega Prayer, Heaven in Her Arms, and Mutyumu
Great list honestly. Very surprised by the amazing taste in the votes.
Those the pillows, おとぼけビ~バ~ (otoboke beaver), sheena ringo (椎名 林檎) (although I would've gone with her first album), and ミドリ midori albums would all make my top 5 easily. I was especially and also pleasantly surprised to see the latter 4 on the list at all.
I am bummed that Haru to Syura didn't make the cut though.
Which is not to say I don't also like きのこ帝国 (kinoko teikoku) and mass of the fermenting dregs (who have some US shows coming up). Also, I was expecting YMO on the list, and I was right; looks like I need to give that album another listen.
I am satisfied.
God damn, even if it's not Flood I'm surprised Boris didn't make the list whatsoever
Of the artists that appeared in the video, I only know: The pillows, Shinsei Kamattechan, midori, kinoko teikoku, and mass of the fermenting dregs, I'm the type of person who listens to everything and maybe I'll check out the other albums that appeared, and no ling Tosite Sigure album appeared, I was sad😢😢
so sad no flood by boris tho
yeah that wasn't even in the top 20 i was surprised
Great vid just found your channel. I recommend art school's Requiem Of Innocence if you wanta hear a post hardcore/emo indie goodness
this is actually gonna be my next video LOL, i just ran a poll and it won
@@curealmy let's gooooooo
Interesting list - I think the albums from Sheena Ringo, Kinoko Teikoku and Mass of the Fermenting Dregs would've made my top 10 too (Sheena Ringo for sure, the album is so cool and kinda unsettling). My no. 1 japanese album is BABYMETAL's "Metal Resistance", that's for sure, and I'd add albums by Atarashii Gakko!, Hako Yamasaki, Maki Asakawa, Gesu no kiwami ottome, Ayano Kaneko, Sokoninaru and the last one from Hitsujibungaku. But there are a lot of others I love too.
Btw after watching your video I listened to the Fishmans album for the first time - that's a really cool one, I dig it!
Very surprised that uzu ni naru made it onto the list, and not any of the other Kinokoteikoku albums. imo their future work is much better, like eureka or fake world wonderland
i think eureka is a lil better but i still like uzu ni naru
Maybe next time I should vote for 10 Asian Kung-Fu Generation albums to increase the chance^^. I limited myself IIRC on only one album per artist, happy to see that Uzu ni Naru in the list.
huh this was a very interesting list, i'm surprised Lamp didn't make it in (i personally voted for Yume as my favorite album), and i didn't expect to see so many rock and punk albums. also, no Nujabes?
btw is there a chance you could make the ranked spreadsheet of all submitted albums public, i'm interested to see all the stuff people voted for
might post the spreadsheet on twitter in a couple days once it won't spoil the video
I'm suprised there's not a single 80s city pop album in the entire video
@@blackman5867 true, i also thought at least Anri would be here. i think as she said, her fans just love rock and punk too much
@@honkydoodle I'm blaming bocchi the rock
GING NANG BOOOOOOYZ!!!!!!!!
wohooo
I really, really need to listen to Tanoshiine. "Kuroitamago" off of Tsumanne and "Zuttomo" off of Eiyuu Syndrome are both way up there in terms of personal importance. Strangely, I didn't get into Shinsei Kamattechan through being Extremely Online, but through being really into anime nobody else cares about: I found the opening to Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko so musically and lyrically striking that I needed to know who performed it, and look where I am now.
Further thoughts: Kind of shocked Ajikan didn't even place, but maybe that's a sign of my age; I remember getting into Boredoms when it felt like there was a shadow of a chance that they'd put out another album. It's been twenty years since Seadrum/House of Sun dropped. ;_; I feel like in terms of noise-rock and punk this list also mostly skews newer and *slightly* more accessible, with hardcore OGs like Gauze, Death Side, The Stalin, G.I.S.M., Zouo and Inu all getting left in the lurch alongside noise-rock and heavy psych/shoegaze titans like the aforementioned Boredoms, OOIOO, Acid Mothers Temple, Nissenenmondai, Coaltar of the Deepers, Ohkami no Jikan, Angel'in Heavy Syrup, Shizuka, Fushitsusha, Afrirampo and Mainliner, to name a few. I suspect this has less to do with the youth neglecting the classics, however, than it does a lack of consensus; see ten different YMO albums being mentioned and Susumu Hirasawa and Ichiko Aoba getting mentions but no placements for this happening in an entirely different genre space. I am admittedly kind of unsurprised that no outright noise made it particularly high, but with that in mind: Please, listen to Aube if you haven't already. Rest in peace, Nakajima-sensei. You were a real one. As for what did get on there, I don't actually have any complaints. World is Yours, in particular, is seeing a thoroughly warranted revival. Seeing Masudore with friends in October and I am HYPED. Also, wild to see Midori rank that high. Finally, in terms of artists not on here but not yet mentioned: Shoutout to Kikuo. "Voices of Svaahaa" is a banger.
there was a lack of consensus that def hurt some stuff, akfg had an almost equal split between sol-fa and fanclub, and most people only put one. similar thing happened to ichiko aoba
P.S. I totally forgot to mention Jon the Dog! Probably my favourite artist with zero chance of ever making it anywhere in a poll like this. Imagine, if you will, the whimsical Japanese furry version of Daniel Johnston or Jandek, playing the organ and singing weird little songs in a soft, high-pitched voice while in a full wolf costume. I adore her with every fibre of my being. I would protect her with my life.
@@curealmy Oh, I can definitely see that, yeah. I can imagine there being some serious partisans there.
shinsei kamattechan (although tomodachi wa koroshite made was easily better /only if it was longer/), MOFD, gingnang boys and kinoko teikoku being there truly sparks joy
shojoskip not making it does not spark joy
