I picked up one of these about 2 months ago. After I got it cleaned, setup, and new strings on it, it's an absolute beast. This guitar can play ANYTHING ... jazz, country, rock, blues, metal, and surf.
I recently preordered an ESP LTD EC-256 with Sweetwater and came across this Omen extreme 6. Now I think I’m going to reconsider my purchase. I’m liking this Schecter!
You're pretty good. Loved your rendition of Bark At The Moon. Awesome tones!! It's amazing that a guitar can stay in tune after the kind of whammy acrobatics you put it through!!
The pickup register 17 ohms. Cheap guitar pickup run at about 4.5. This guitar is awesome. I have one. Getting the brass block for the Floyd Special on it.

I think I enjoy the tone of the Omen Extreme over The Hellraiser, just seems more tone. Now before someone gets puked out, I have owned plenty of guitars and basses. I do like active electronics in bass, but to my ears in guitars the EMG's tend tell cancel out the tone of the guitar and sound shrill, especially the 81. I did however uses EMG 707 in my old 7 string Warlock and it was fantastic. I really miss that guitar more than anything, it was old school built in the USA while Rich Sr. was still with us. I have large hands so I usually loved 7 string best and all that huge tone. However I understand the need for them when working around florescent lighting and venues that have a lot of electrical interference. I have heard players like to record with the Omen Extreme and perform with the EMG equipped Hellraiser's it does make some sense. If you ever acquire a 7 string I will check out your review. There are more good choices for 7 string players these days by Jackson, Ibanez and of course Schecter. That was a good demo and congrats on the Omen Extreme, its sounds great through your rig. I enjoyed your playing, and apologize for the lengthy comment.
Played one at a guitar shop, thought it was really quite good compared to some others. Just felt right, even if it's a more rounder neck than I'm used to. Floyd Rose as well??? Getting one!
Possibly the most meticulously made guitar review! No nonsense, to the point and legit sounds... Good work, man! Quick question: how well are the stock pups for metal??
I normally change my stock pups but I just absolutely can't justify it with this guitar. They are actually very nice, they could be a bit warmer at times but truly they are nice stock pickups. I should add this is the only guitar stock pups I've ever been impressed with. Great guitar all around
Hey dude great review. Simple and to the point, I like it. Love all the Metallica, and speaking of that how'd you get that tone for Shortest Straw? It sounded pretty much spot on!
Hi! Thanks! That tone is not hard to get. Just have a good distortion VST and turn off any cab simulation, then, add a VST that loads impulse responses, and load an impulse response from a pack, that you can download, called "Metallica - Gold Impulse Response Collection" from a guy called BGelais, just google and you will find it. in that pack just use the impulse response called "Blackened_IR". It will almost instantly sound like the tone on the Justice album.
I bought a new guitar yesterday. The Omen 6 extreme without tremolo, was on my list to check out. It was quickly excluded from the circle, after playing for 10 seconds. It is not possible to play on the higher frets. As soon as my index finger was further than 14th frets, the inside of my hand felt the giant back plate, and the back of my hand already felt the cut out. I believe I have normal hands for a man, so maybe someone with small hands, can play up there, but it was absolutely impossible to play up there. I don't understand why give a guitar 24 frets, if it's unplayable. I'd assume most people just play riffs on it and solos that don't go that high, and I didn't see anything else in this video either. Only the more expensive Schecter models are without the back plate and playable, but all of them seem like they don't provide good value by comparison to the competition at that point.
I'm wondering why mine came with only 2 springs while yours has 3. I have the see thru black version which is more green than black and I have the non Floyd Rose version in the black cherry, gorgeous guitars. Love all the Metallica man!

I can't decide between this one and Jackson js32 king v... I m a little skeptical about buying any of these two with a floyd rose at this price...which one do you think has a better floyd rose bridge stability, omen 6 extreme fr or the js32 king v fr? The better Floyd, to me, is the Schecter one. Better quality. But the King V one is good enough. Better pickups is more subjective, but i would also say the Schecter.
Hi. Yes, i'd say it's similar. The neck as i recall, seems more satin finish, while this one is slightly more glossy. The pickups on the Demon are active, Duncan Designed, an asian version of the Seymour Duncan Blackout, they sound pretty nice. The bridge might be the same, a Floyd Rose Special. The bridge on this one on my video is no longer used, but it's quite good
Thank you very much! :) No pedals, the first part is the Orange Dark Terror amp with a bit of chorus to give some more stereo effect, and the rest is pretty much Amplitube VST
I just got the Diamond series Omen Extreme and I noticed mine has extra abalone points on each side of the vector inlays. I just put a set of the same strings on today haha.
Hi. Well, i like it a lot. The overall guitar is great and well put together. i bought it used for 200 eur in perfect condition! The licensed Floyd doesn't even have any brand written on, but it's a great surprise, it's almost as good as an original Floyd! The bridge humbucker has high gain but without beeing too muddy or noisy, and the neck humbucker is just amazing, as good as an EMG 60 !
Is the fr any good? Like does it stay in tune? I know that Jacksons fr detunes the guitar after one dive bomb... that guitar is halv the price of this one tough.. but still... Is the fr any good?
Even though it has no brand name (i suspect it's Korean made perhaps), it works very well and stays in tune, a good surprise. But the current version of the guitar is sold with a Floyd Rose brand tremolo, it's not the top model, the "original", but it should be good too
good review! I never tried Schecter, but am thinking of getting this. looks and sound gorgeous. how you feel when you grip a finger board? I have to try it at the shop tho.
Hi, nice video! Please help me out. I have one of those but i would really like to make it sound heavier on distortion. Is it possible? Like substituing the passive pickups for the ones like schecter demon 6? I really like to play heavy riffs, please help me out on what i can do to make my distortion more aggresive
How is the thickness of neck compared to a medium Ibanez (like 350DX)? I want to buy this guitar but I red that the neck is too much fat. I love Jackson/Ibanez necks so if it's similar then I will buy this version of Schecter too. Thanks!
Hi I need your advice, I'm using a jackson dinky js12, I'm planning on buying schecter omen extreame fr, does schecter will make a real sound difference?
There is likely to be a difference yes, i just don't know if it's enough for you or not. I would have to compare them side by side, but i don't have a Dinky JS 12. But the Schecter tremolo will be better, no doubts..

Hi. The pickups are basically high gain, but you can roll off some volume on the guitar or some gain on the amp and get a softer drive sound. But of course, if you want to play ac dc type of distortion, maybe it's optimal to use similar equipment.
That's my exact question too. I'm going to buy one of the two. At first I wanted the Jackson but I think I'm gonna save more and get this .. I like the sound and this color more. So sexy
Hello, good day, I am torn between Jackson JS32 and Schecter Omen Extreme 6. I listen to metal and play riffs. Which one has a harder and tighter sound?
That is a good question. They both have plenty of gain. I don't think there is a big difference in thightness, but i would maybe say.. the schecter. It's though to choose between their sounds. Maybe of you could try them first... that would be best
oh.. that's personal preference, really... But i like colors that allow the wood texture and the burst painting to be more visible, so in that case i would say VSB
I'm debating between an Omen Extreme 6 and a C-6 Plus. As far as I can tell from my own research, they both use the same pickups so they're probably pretty similar. Do you think it's worth the extra money to go for the Omen? I really like the switch for coil splitting but idk if it's worth an extra $100...
Interesting question. The other saturday, i tried a C-6 plus, i was pleasantly surprised, it sounded and felt good, and i had tried a PRS before... My only advice is, in case you want a Floyd one, check to which has the better one, because it's an expensive part to replace.. otherwhise, i'd say the C-6 is good enough
@@megahurtz30 Awesome. Thank you so much for the info! I think I may end up going for the C-6 in that case, though the coil splitting feature is REALLY making me gravitate towards the Omen. Plus it definitely looks a lot flashier than the C-6 >:D.
@@megahurtz30 And adding on to my previous comment, how often do you end up using coil splitting? Is it a feature that is worth paying the extra money for? I'm looking for a guitar that has a lot of longevity and I'm thinking that having a feature like that may be worth it in the long run...
@@AprilSBarnes that is tottaly up to you and your style of music, for me, a metal guy, i rarely use it, and i even have a squier with fender single coils, whenever i need them, so... But if you need it, it might be important to get a guitar with that feature, they work well in the Schecter. I had tested an Ibanez with that feature using a 5-way selector and i didn't like it, the volume dropped immensely. But in the Omen Extreme, it works well !
megahurtz30 Fantastic. Thank you so much for your help! I think I'm gonna go with the Omen. I think it'll be worth it as opposed to getting a C6 and then just getting a Telecaster down the line when I need a single coil sound.
Hello, thanks! The Amp i used was the Orange Dark Terror with Randall 4x12ISO cab and a SM57 mic. I also used some free VST like Classic Chorus from Kjaerus Audio. And used Amplitube Custom Shop, and also used a Metallica Impulse Response, which is also free around the web. So basically, one Amp, the Iso cab, the SM57 mic, and some (mostly free) software..
megahurtz30 Reviews on this guitar have shown issues with fret buzz as well as the Floyd Rose increasingly get worse over time to the point where it can't be fixed.
How is the tuning stability of the instrument? Will it stay in tune if someone goes nuts with the whammy bar? Any insight on the Floyd Rose system will be helpful.
This Floyd is an unbranded one and the current model comes with a Floyd Rose Special. But the one on this guitar is a very pleasant surprise! Stays in tune great and the finetuners move smooth and easy just like on the best FR units, and you can even do the flutter technique...
I know this video is 2 years old but I'll try anyhow...I just bought that same guitar used. It's a 2017 Omen Extreme FR. Guy I bought it from didn't play much, guitar literally doesn't have a single scratch on it, paid $350. Mine has 3 knobs though... with one push pull. Do you know what the deal is with that? Thank you:)
Can I ask you something that has nothing to do with the guitar? I see you play the MoP interlude and at the D part you hammer on the first string with your index finger instead of your middle finger. Why is that? I'm asking because I have trouble hammering that, I place my left hand in the classic open D major position but every time I try to hammer on the first string with my middle finger all I get is a deadened sound... I've tried almost everything, including pulling up the hand, lowering my thumb but it's been no use at all...
Well, no special reason. I guess it's because my first instinct is sort of going for 2 string 4th or 5th chords instead of using the normal D major shape (which makes more sense really). That way, it seems no less easy or hard. Just practice it a lot! In my opinion there is almost no easy stuff to play. If you want to play flawless, every note to ring perfectly, every riff is difficult, only practicing is the key. Reminds me of an interview with Nicko Mcbrain, they asked him what is the most difficult Maiden song to play and he said: all of them!
@@megahurtz30 Thanks for your answer. First of all I didn't get you at the "going for 2 strings 4th or 5th chords". Could you explain in a simpler way? I forgot to mention that I noticed that my ring finger - that I use to fret the 2nd string - gets in the way. I've tried the same thing without it and it worked, did make an acceptable sound. But when there's that ring finger in between, man... I don't know what is going on, since when I play a regular D chord all the strings that are needed ring fine. Maybe it's the motion of my middle finger that gets my ring one to move as well, but I'm not so sure. However I can't seem to figure out a way to not making it move, just can't figure how. It's unacceptable that I can do more complicated stuff and I'm stuck at this crap.
@@Cthulhu_Awaken well the chords i mentioned are the regular metal chords. 2 fingers in the same fret on adjacent strings (the root note and the 4th fo the scale right?), of course on the B and G strings those chords aren't in the same fret, but 1 fret apart. And the typical powerchord (root and 5th)
@@megahurtz30 I think I get it. But after watching the video again I'm not sure anymore if you hammered the part with your index or your middle, cause of the heavy light. Can you remember please? :)
It is used to guide the strings to stay at a correct angle through the locking nut. Otherwise, when you lock the nut, the strings will be pushed further down so much, that their tuning will change and you will have to adjust a lot, on the bridge fine tuners.
Hi. Yes, it has a glossy finish, but it's not a problem to me. I don't have issues with neck finishes sticking, i play would the thumb rather loose or relaxed, it usually doesn't feel sticky. But like any guitar, you can always give a slight sanding to the neck finish to become more satin-like.
This is one of the best reviews of any guitar I've seen! Love the detail and how you played the same song on each pickup variation!
Also what color is that one?
Thank You Very much! :) I believe they call this color Black Cherry
megahurtz30 would you say that's it's more black or red? Is it like a candy apple red?
Hmm, like red wine i guess, or blood. It's pretty much like you see it in the video... a dark red, and the surface is smooth and shiny
megahurtz30 thanks!

do you think you could tell me how thin the neck is? I really have a problem with thick necks being an acoustic player for so long

It feels good, it has a regular feel i guess, not as thin as a jackson or ibanez typical metal guitar, but still good, solid and fast enough
@@megahurtz30 good to know!! thanks for your peply! thanks to you, I really want to try or get it. cheers!
Did you get it? It's on sale for cyber monday probably gonna buy it today
Hi, nice video! Please help me out. I have one of those but i would really like to make it sound heavier on distortion. Is it possible? Like substituing the passive pickups for the ones like schecter demon 6? I really like to play heavy riffs, please help me out on what i can do to make my distortion more aggresive
What amp are you using?
How is the thickness of neck compared to a medium Ibanez (like 350DX)? I want to buy this guitar but I red that the neck is too much fat. I love Jackson/Ibanez necks so if it's similar then I will buy this version of Schecter too. Thanks!
It's not thick or fat. Ibanez and Jackson probably have the thinnest ones. But this one is still a slim fast neck.
@@megahurtz30 thank you! So is it more thin than a Les Paul?
AndreeTheGuitarist for sure !
@@megahurtz30 thanks!
bravo !!!

Is this a metal guitar? I want to find some kinda overdrive/ac dc distortion with this guitar but I found only metal sound from it
Hi. The pickups are basically high gain, but you can roll off some volume on the guitar or some gain on the amp and get a softer drive sound. But of course, if you want to play ac dc type of distortion, maybe it's optimal to use similar equipment.
I guess its pretty much metal guitar. For hard rock and some metal I think some les paul like guitars and jackson/ibanez will be better
there is coil tapping so yes guitar works well since it has single coils as well
I think it’s a great metal guitar, Shaun Morgan (the lead singer for seether) plays only schecter and they’re a great metal band
Synyster Gates from Avenged Sevenfold only plays Schecter guitars. So yes, it's an great guitar for metal.
which one's best?
jackson js32 dinky or shecter omen extreme 6 fr?
That's my exact question too. I'm going to buy one of the two. At first I wanted the Jackson but I think I'm gonna save more and get this .. I like the sound and this color more. So sexy
Fuck bro, a schecter gryphon diamond series 6 string was my first electric guitar. I have to get this one. So bad.
Here take my money 💰
Nice play, i Need to check a serial of my schecter guitare Omen 6 Extreme, i dont find a serial search engine....help me
Made in indonesia greattt🤘🤘🤘🤘
Haaa, schecter produk korea
Tapi di balik neck ada tulisan made in indonesia mas wkwkw
8:55 !?!? Amazing!!!
I thought so as well
Do you think STBLK looks better on this guitar or VSB? If STBLK is +1 VSB -1 NOW THANKS
oh.. that's personal preference, really... But i like colors that allow the wood texture and the burst painting to be more visible, so in that case i would say VSB
megahurtz30 Thanks...
So is the headstock of the guitar black or sunburst?
@@serhatdz6080 It's black
but isn't the headstock in the VSB model black?
I bet this will go perfect with locking tuners and seymour duncan pearly gates
I don’t know what’s worse, made in Indonesia or crafted in China?
From my experience, in general terms... crafted in China. But right now, i'm preparing to review a guitar made in China, and it's pretty well built.
which amp or pedals did you used ? really awesome tone n playing.plz tell.wanna buy
So basically, one Amp, the Iso cab, the SM57 mic, and some (mostly free) software..
megahurtz30 awesome . thanks bro .keep rocking : )
megahurtz30 Reviews on this guitar have shown issues with fret buzz as well as the Floyd Rose increasingly get worse over time to the point where it can't be fixed.
Do you recomend this guitar to a starter?
I would recomend instead, the version with a fixed bridge. A floyd type bridge is more complicated for a beginner
wow made in Indonesia I just found out about that

How is the tuning stability of the instrument? Will it stay in tune if someone goes nuts with the whammy bar? Any insight on the Floyd Rose system will be helpful.
This Floyd is an unbranded one and the current model comes with a Floyd Rose Special. But the one on this guitar is a very pleasant surprise! Stays in tune great and the finetuners move smooth and easy just like on the best FR units, and you can even do the flutter technique...
@@megahurtz30 Thanks man. Helped a lot. I hope the Floyd Rose Special performs just as well.
6:20 for Dirty Tones
I know this video is 2 years old but I'll try anyhow...I just bought that same guitar used. It's a 2017 Omen Extreme FR. Guy I bought it from didn't play much, guitar literally doesn't have a single scratch on it, paid $350.
Mine has 3 knobs though... with one push pull. Do you know what the deal is with that? Thank you:)
Yes, at some point, Schecter started producing this model with 3 knobs, mine is an older version

Obrigado! :) Abraço
Hi! What's the song you played at 6:21?
Ozzy Osbourne - Bark At The Moon
I see you have a bandeira in the amp
Could it be you too speak bacalhau?
Yes, Yes ! O bacalhau quer alho ! XD

Which is better ltd ec256 or that schecter omen?
In my case i would go with the Omen because it's a little more heavy metal sounding guitar
Muy bien todo, pero no me gustó el sonido de la grabación
Does it stay in tune well and where did you get it?
Yes, this one had a great Floyd bridge ! I bought it used from a guy in my town
@@megahurtz30 do you know any good guitars from $500-550 with a normal tremolo that's good for lead playing?
@@ognjen-im1ym a few years ago i tested the current version of this guitar and seemed pretty good
I like the part where he played Metallica
@@Cthulhu_Awaken Index finger
What is that bar just above the lock-in tuners on the head stock ? I just got this guitar but Blue. Phloyd rose as well
It is used to guide the strings to stay at a correct angle through the locking nut. Otherwise, when you lock the nut, the strings will be pushed further down so much, that their tuning will change and you will have to adjust a lot, on the bridge fine tuners.
@@megahurtz30 thank you
how about listing out the songs u played? and put at time stamp?
What’s the first song you’re playing when you use distortion?
Bark at the Moon, from Ozzy Osbourne
What is the solo that you played around 8:30 it sounds super familiar
It's one of the solos from the song Orion, by Metallica
Hey. Is the neck finished? If it is, does it feel sticky at all?
