I absolutely love my 85” B9. Professional setting with some slight tweaks and the picture is incredible. I live in Arizona with tons of natural lighting and the B9 doesn’t disappoint. OLED for the bedroom and LED for the living room.
I think it is mistake to have these videos with comparisons, when the viewers of videos have their own tv with its effective filter. Anyway, this mocking of the reference monitor is also a mocking of the film industry which is using the reference monitor for creating content. IMO the very first criteria should be match to the reference monitor which is used for creating content. The secondary criteria can include unique characteristics and should be documented but comparing or judging unique criteria should be about defining the unique criteria, and each tv should be judged for their ability to match every unique criteria.
I think comparisons are good, though. Because each of these TVs are elite at something, and how are you to know what is best if you can not see the differences side-by-side? This is how I went from not considering the S95D to buying the set. The G4 and S95D stand out at the edges
Correct! We said the same thing back when it was released as having a 83inch with MLA. Plus we love the interface and how well it integrates to alot of automated home stuff. Its more than good enough and still amazing for your average consumer who loves what they love and can afford it.
I do enjoy QD OLED. Everyone knows it can show colors that Woled panels can’t. BUT that’s not the end all be all. TV’s like the g4 have insane white brightness, to my eyes this is very impactful in scenes. It’s also a huge positive for sports watching especially with hockey. I’ve compared the g4 and a95l in 65” side by side in my house. The g4 for me blew the a95 away. Sure the colors in some scenes were better on the a95 but the g4 consistently was brighter and more impactful in highlights. It really comes down to use case. The g4 was perfect for my living room with its increased brightness. Maybe if I was in a black room or using FMM all the time then it would be a bigger different. But I don’t live in the “most accurate mode”
Brian there are no losers, what some tv enthusiast declares who’s better which in truth is just subjective opinion. Anyone would be lucky to have any of those tv’s. Sometimes I wonder how can a tv enthusiast actually enjoy watching tv when they’re glued into every microscopic detail. They must be paralyzed by their own analysis. Thanks for the video Brian. Oh next year just know it will always be Sony. It’s fixed…..
@kylescovers9833 I am worried about becoming like this, but so far, I haven't. Even in PCs, tech, and gaming, I am able to break free and immerse. I see some in the comments that aren't able to. Life is too short, let go and be free
I always appreciate your honest discussion that think beyond specs. It truly matters to actually see in person vs spec wars. As a non TV example, I got the latest ‘bestest’ oled ipad and it’s so bright that I’m getting eye strain (despite lowering white point balance and dark mode enabled). My point is until I actually use the device, I don’t truly know which product is best “for me” 😅 Thanks guys!!
Got the 65 S95D, 4 months on absolutely love the anti-glare finish. Day or night, the TV looks spectacular. Motion handling has improved a ton after update, and I rarely see any artifact and frame skipping is completely gone. I use with ATV4K, and no issues there. Happy that S95D is so close to Sony, because Sony is 30% more expensive here.
2 months on are your opinions the same? I bought the 55” s95d yesterday at a good price and all iv seen so far is people shit talking about the matte screen, to me in the store under the big lights the blacks were inky and the colours popped I had side by side comparison with the G4 altho a good tv the colours just didn’t look as saturated as the 95. How is the response time on the tv?
I purchased the 83” G4 and I don’t have any regrets. You both had a huge influence on my decision and I can say I have zero regrets. I understood the spirit in which you were making your recommendations from the start. Some people want to be told what to do and don’t realize that there is no clear cut answer due to preferences. You did a great job of explaining your positions.
83" is huge 😂 I'm still in my first year of 65" and am resisting making bigger jumps so I can save that experience for another day. I need to get over my enamored feeling of 65"
@@ehenningsenI think distance plays a huge role. I’m a big believer that the size should be determined by how far away you are. I had a 65” in my last house and was very happy with it but my new living room had a much farther distance from the couch and it was driving me crazy how small the image seemed. lol.
@@fab9223 Absolutely! For a great experience watching movies with a 65" size TV (especially with very wide aspect ratio movies that make the image SMALLER due to black bars above & below it) to be able to enjoy the sort of immersive experience with a production that its director & cinematographer intended you to have, one really shouldn't sit at a distance from a 65" inch screen that's substantially farther than 7 feet, particularly since the tiny pixels of modern 4k TVs make the pixel structure of 65" screens invisible to the eye at 7 feet. In my own living room situation, for watching a visual wide aspect ratio masterpiece like the beautifully filmed "Apocalypse Now", when seeing a film like that on our 85" Samsung QN90B, I view the movie from a chair that's been moved up to place my eyes just 8 to 8.5 feet from the screen. BUT, if I didn't have very good peripheral vision, then I'd have to sit farther than that distance to be able to see the entire movie image without having to move my head or eyes back & forth. BTW, for watching regular TV shows, my wife & I STILL find it to be highly satisfying to be sitting on the couch, at the back of the room, although that places our eyes at 15 & a half to 16 feet away from the 85" screen. But that relatively far distance for viewing TV shows is STILL very good for 2 reasons: 1. TV show directors shoot their programs so as to have the characters in a show mostly being seen in close-up, because the directors & photographers who shoot the programs know that more than half of the people watching at home, view their shows on TVs with 55", or smaller, screens. So even at a 16 ft. distance, an 85" TV seems quite generous in size for seeing TV shows. Point #2 is that TV shows are NOT shot in a wide aspect ratio, so there are NO black bars causing a picture image to take up LESS screen area than the TV has!
I'm deliberating between the Bravia 8 and the LG G4. For me, the TV does not need to be insanely bright, but I am sensitive to motion judder and like a warm and natural cinematic picture. So I am leaning towards the Bravia 8, however can anyone swing me to the G4? And, why? Thanks!
Further, what I particularly value is ongoing/long-term product “SUPPORT”. My current 2020- 65 inch - LG CX has to be the BEST product I have ever owned long-term. LG is still updating it now a full four years on. I am planning another tv upgrade later this fall. My daughter and her family are waiting in line to grab my CX - off my wall - and put it on hers! The replacement will be, without doubt, another LG product: the C4 - but at 77 inches. In Canada right now, the difference in cost between the LG G4 and Sony A95L is $1500. For those who need “perfection” - go for it! But the LG C4 at $2500 less than the “perfect” Sony A95L - will suffice given my needs. There is a point where: “enough IS enough!” Or so says “wifey” with her rolling pin in hand.🥳😂😱🤡😜🙃
True, some people rate every euro or dollar they pay per score. Example: tv score is 9 but is 4000 dollar. 4000/9 = 444 dollar per point Tv score is 8.5 price is 3000 dollar. Thats 3000/8 = 375 euro per point..
Still in love with my C1 and recently I got the C3 on prime day. Fantastic picture after I calibrated it. No need for new TV if you have one and you love it. Too much hype from Sony. I worked with the B9 and oled is still superior.
I’m waiting probably for first leaks of next year gen if QD oled 83/85 will be released if not then 83” G4 will be my choice. Competition in in that size would push the prices down. 83 is way too expensive for extra 6”. Saying this LG dropped 83” prize down to 5.5k here in Uk for a couple of days and with various discounts I could get it down to 3.6k which is not that bad - but still 1k/ 40% more over 77”. Saying that both s95d and G4 is way better priced already than A95L.
Yeah I have a Bravia 9 65 inch and I have a LG G3 55 inch. The Bravia 9 is not beating high end OLEDs overall. It does a couple of things better, IN CERTAIN PRESETS, such as brightness (especially peak brightness is incredible). But while shadow detail is good on Bravia 9 it certainly still struggles in dark scenes. It's much better in a standard picture preset of some sort. Game mode? It has some serious difficulties with either (A) Blooming in Local Dimming Medium or (B) a bit of black crush and overall lower peak brightness (noticeably so). There are also other issues like ghosting in VRR and BFI modes, but in most cinema style picture presets Bravia 9 is doing really well, punching way above what you'd expect from a Mini LED with it's dimming zone count. All that said, no, I use my LG G3 for gaming mostly (and some dark movies) just because the contrast is amazing and the pixel response (and thus motion clarity) is unbeatable by Mini LED TVs (unless some super fast processor comes into play in future). OLEDs are still king in the gaming sphere. They are struggling now against this one Mini LED in the cinema viewing. But that's about it. The thing that I'm looking forward to is what Sony may be able to achieve with it's next iteration (or perhaps 2 generations from now) in Mini LED tech. This newer, more minute control over local dimming, mixed with their existing processing means (to me) that if they just had like 4000+ dimming zones... it could be a monster. Especially if they can get their hands on faster chips so that all the processing can happen faster and boost pixel response times. Because as it stands, still the two biggest issues Mini LED TVs face (including Sony's) are motion clarity (which Sony is undoubtedly doing the best here, but it still ain't close to OLED) and still having to trade off between blooming and black levels to some extent in gaming modes. LG G4 (which I don't have sadly) killed it by having a way more powerful processor than needed, but it allowed them to basically excel in EVERY mode and on every port, regardless of your input latency target. If we could get that... but on Mini LEDs? That'd be something amazing to see. I also very much agree about WOLED vs. QD-OLED. I do genuinely like some of the color richness you can get with QD-OLED (had an S95B before). But it's hard to ignore the pinkish tint from the over-saturated reds. To my eyes, the slight cyan but more pure white colors on WOLEDs look better to me. I also prefer the more natural feeling skin tones you tend to get. And sometimes the almost overly rich colors don't produce as realistic feeling of an image. And these vibrant colors don't necessarily make the TV "pop" more to me... it's the contrast of dark to light that does that. So I don't personally care as much what the richness of the colors are so long as they CAN be rich when they need to be. I care much more about the overall contrast, that to me makes objects look more 3-dimensional when they should be.
100%. Which is why I went with the G4 83" rather than the B9 85". I do also wonder if the a11 will be even better utilized as time goes by, and if LG will be implementing new firmware and improvements in the coming years.
@@kclaytree2734 You are not wrong, but the G4 83" out of box also won against the S95D's 77" Gen 3 QD-OLED panel in the shootout. So if the top of the line image quality professionals say that the OOTB (let's face it, 99.999% of the people) performance is better than the latest QD-OLED panel, then I think LG is doing just fine this year with their panel + processing.
@@desmondbrown5508 Complete opposite for me I have the S95C unlocked and a 240hz QD Oled. I will say Oled is superior in gaming with instantaneous pixel response time. To me that’s it. The 85B9 has destroyed my logic. I could never do WOLED again because the panels just aren’t clean enough and I pan the sky’s all the time. Shadow detail on the B9 destroys all oleds no competition. I can actually see detail within a black suit within a dark scene on top of a dark setting it’s that good. Upscaling is phenomenal and pixel response is amazing for a led. I can’t really fault it for much. I do enjoy having both. They compliment each other nicely!
I have a 65 A95L that I sit 7 feet away from with an HTA 7000, SW3 and RS3 speakers. No complaints. But at 83-85 the G4 and B9 are the clear top 2 picks even I can admit that. Also at 75-77 those 2 are more cost affective than the 95. If you don’t wanna pay flagship prices I think the C4, B8 and S90 also are still great options at the big sizes. You really can’t go wrong. The content is great though. I think I’ve watched everyone’s G4, B9, B8, and S95 vids even having an A95 lol.
I’m actually contemplating on buying a 77” Sony A95L, a Samsung S90D (I don’t like the matte screen finish on the S95D), or an 85” Bravia 9 by black Friday. I don’t game at all, I mostly stream movies, watch a few 4K blu-rays and watch some soccer two or three times a month. What do you think will be the better buy for me for my usages? Thanks!
@@lpromer4796 Depends on the room and distance. I think the 95L is great for all use cases. I guess an 85 B9 would have the edge if it’s a bigger and brighter room. My use case id say is probably split evenly between gaming, sports and streaming movies. Which all my content is streamed. SDR content off UA-cam Tv or movies off the streaming services are great on the 95L. I’d assume B9 very similar experience.
@@zr1cvette 👌🏼 I just hope it comes down in price because it almost never does and when it does it’s only like $300 😞 if by Black Friday the 77” A95L is the same or more expensive than the 85” Bravia 9, then I’ll probably just buy the Bravia 9 and go bigger for less money
I while I don’t really care about who won the tv shootout.I do have the A95l,G3 and A80J in my house and do enjoy the A95l more out of all those other TVs .🤷🏾♂️
The best and most perfect TV for me is 83" G4. Simply the best in class picture quality in the world in all aspects for all use cases (cinema, PC gaming at 144hz, tv series, streaming, console gaming, retro gaming) over the 80" size category. The accuracy out of the box is incredible in filmmaker mode, and Cinema Home and Game Optimizer are absolutely stunning and very bright. Oh, and that sweet 5-year warranty... and free installation.
Honestly, with the lack of coverage from the shootout. Their judging is irrelevant. We can't see what they are talking about. Why should it matter? I think they will find alot less people putting weight on their decision going forward.
Zero regret for buying the 75” B9. It has best build quality, picture and sound I’ve ever experienced from an LED TV and to me, personal preference is all that matters. Looking forward to the video👍🏻
@@444chromahow do you find the views from the side . I have people over for movies & football games and people are seated in a horse shoe pattern . Are the angle views good ?
@@jillbraser9302 I only look at it from straight on. For your use case I'd get the OLED with the best viewing angles (they're not all the same check rtings)
You're the one who has to watch it so if you like it that's all that counts. I still love my 75 Z9K and I hope they eventually upgrade the new 8k set with the new mini led tech the B9 uses, it would be a next level beast and hopefully it won't be 7 to 10k again. Enjoy your set and keep being happy when you watch it👍
It’s a great and interesting discussion. I can understand the points raised. Personally, I’m running a LG CX which is 3 years old now and I still love it. My only real concern here is that there are more companies running OLED screen technology, and only two running QD-OLED screens, with no hints that others will take this technology. I love the thought of the Sony but it’s highly expensive in the UK, and the Samsung lacks DV which I just can’t get past at this time. I also think LED-based technology I’ve left behind so it’s likely going to be LG’s OLED again.
Primary comparison should be to the reference monitor that is used for creating films in the film industry. Secondarily, an organized set of other specific criteria is appropriate if every tv in the shootout gets to compete against the whole set of additional criteria.
My Panasonic plasma V series board just died 😢 Looks like G4 for me, I don’t like vivid over blown color and brightness. Any recommendations on settings
They should move to an only out of the box shootout vs the reference monitor comparison and that’s the winner. Forget the Calibration. Make sure the tvs out of the box are set the same. Put it in standard and judge it bc that’s what everyone who is buying a tv is seeing when they get it home. That’s the experience they get.
Unbelievable! I went to Best Buy and could not keep my eyes off the Hisense U8N 77 inch QLED. It caught my eye in a way the rest did not. The Samsung was close. Why.
I own an S90C and S95D and gave my U8k to my dad. The U8K is special for different reasons. I'm telling you, that TV is glorious. The U8N and U9N (will be) even better.
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY PS Brian, I mean no disrespect towards VE and the shootout. I just think people need people need to realize, it don't matter, LG C series, G series, Sony OLEDs, Samsung OLEDs all offer premium PQ. I've owned panels from all 3 too.
I understand the principle of the shootout and respect what it stands for. However, this is a competition for those who want to stick to the creator's intent. I remember last year when Brian reached for the controller to show why this shootout was about one specific aspect. That moment showed the OCD of those who only cared about the intent, but was funny 😂. I respect Brian for attempting to demonstrate this to his audience. While there are a small percentage of people who care about the creator's feefees, the rest of us care about our eyes. As long as the panel doesn't widely vary from the expected values, they are legit good to push the tech envelope to provide the best possible experience. This shootout is for fun and not meant to crown the best overall TV. Because art is in the eye of the beholder, all three of these elite sets have their own edge case. So pick your poison and enjoy your favorite flavor
Since i wanted a bright and big 83" OLED, there is only 1 choice, LG. I also found the colors on the samsung (uncalibrated and in filmmaker mode) too agressive, dont know if i change my mind calibrated vs calibrated, but there is no way for me to find that out. Sony got trouble with dolby vision and i never liked the motion from samsung, so would have bought the lg anyway. But i have to say, the samsung new antireflection f4om s95d looks damn good with lights on. Would pick that every time above anything else even with contrast lost. But i hate the samsung os and love the lg os, its so simple, clean and gives quick acces to profiles and is way faster than samsung and the sony os is the worst. such a hassle to go through menues and settings. But the lg remote is so clunky... So, there is no perfect tv. If, i would like the sony remote (backlit) with lg layout (quick acces), sonys motion, lgs processing for everything else, qd oled panel without overblown colors and samsung new antireflection tech in one tv set. That would be the perfect tv for me, never going to happen 🤣
Calm down. Take a deep breath. Resist the itch. And wait for CES2025 to see what Sony (or Panasonic) will come up with. Rumors, or word going around, tell us that next Sony QD-OLED model will come with new pentonic 800 chip, a possible brigther next gen panel, better processing and, finally, 4 hdmi 2.1 inputs.
@@Jordanfiend361 i'd recommend you to read "Everything you ever wanted to know about TV brightness, nits, and tone mapping" from Digital Trends, to understand why brightness is important, how movies are mastered for specific nits and the tone mapping that the TV has to do if it's out of spec along with the downsides.
As a B9 owner, i can honestly say that it's an amazing LED television, but if you really want OLED the LG G4 is also a fantastic television and should be on your list, especially if you have gamers in your household.
Brian at 3:00 PM I'm on a bus to visit the Lakeland Best Buy on a Hisense U7N 50 or 55" what ever they have on display and Check out the G4 & C4 for myself.

They only compare in HDR…that’s the FATAL FLAW in these “Shootouts”…Live programming like sports is BY FAR the most sought after content in the world….that is why companies as spending HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS to get that content…yet in these “shootouts” it’s barely even mentioned…
I'm debating between Bravia 7 and Bravia 9 because the price difference is big Can you explain the differences between them and whether the price difference is worth the investment. I mainly watch football in a lighted room. Today I have a Sony OLED TV and it has problems with burning pixels, so I want to switch to a TV with mini LED technology 🌹🌹thanks
As a gamer, the only sensible choice is the G4. Samsung has a history of thermal throttling, frame-skipping, one connect box signal losses and lacking the panel warranty that can be had only on LG TVs.
For me, I think the Bravia 9 might be the best TV for my use case although my wife wants the a95l because it won. She thinks that miniLEDS are bad next to OLEDS since they didn't score well in the shootout. I'd like to get your opinion on my use case to see if I am missing something or misunderstanding something about mini LEDS 1) Main viewing would be movies/shows. gaming and live sports is secondary I'd say about 70-75% : 25-30% ratio. My gaming is done on an Xbox series X. 2) The room is a very bright room (sunroom), with the sunset coming through the windows aimed at the TV. 3) Size- I'd be looking for a TV in the 80+" range. My wife said "go big or go home". That pretty much leaves The Bravia 9 or LG G4 in these sizes. 4) Viewing angles- I don't feel is a concern as it is only my wife and I. Being that it is a large TV on the wall that is about 9ft away from our couch, the love seat on the side still lies within 30 degrees viewing angle for any guest sitting there. 5) Cost- I'm from Canada and the 83" LG G4 at Best Buy is $8000 while the 85" Bravia 9 is $6500. That is $1500 plus tax difference totalling $1695. So it wo uld cost me almost $1700 less for a slightly larger flagship TV.
I'm not an expert, but I'd also go with the Bravia 9 in your scenario. In fact, I'm not certain anything could compare. Save the very large UX or QM8, we're talking the over 110" $10,000+ panels
@@ehenningsen Thank you! Those other tv's, UX or QM8 are too large for the wall this TV would go on. 85" is about the max I could get. maybe a 90" if there was one.
Awesome video as always Brian. Can you say hand on heart, which tv of the shootout is the best straight out of the box. Ready to go, no messing with pictures setting. My choice is between Sony A95L or LG G4. Any advice would be appreciated. Great video, and thanks for sharing.
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Thanks Brian for your fast response. You have definitely made my mind up, I will be buying the G4 in the next few weeks. I will definitely let you know how I get on with it. Cheers mate your opinion is appreciated. Great videos with great content. Thanks for sharing.
The shootout had to have a goal to try and attain with the least amount of individual impressions/tastes. And that was which TV could get closest to the Sony reference monitor. Brian and FOMO thank you for continuing to reinforce this fact about the "shootout".
Remember "council of 7" Should have never mentioned that. Sony reference monitor that uses xr processing. Oh they're purist but dont mind extra sharpness or more micro contrast light control that isnt in the video signal.
Hey Brian! Quick question, how close in color does the G4 get compared to the S95D and A95L? I realize QD-OLED has a wider color range than W-OLED but to me if it can get close enough to the QD-OLED, that would be good enough for me since I don't buy TVs to compare against each. Also, I agree that the VE shootout, while fun is not the basis for my purchasing a TV.
They more or less answer that in the video it comes close don’t listen to certain channels that make out it’s night and day that’s just pure misinformation
All those TV's at the shootout are good if you can afford them? No one should feel regret about their purchase if your TV did not win the shootout. Hate to beat a dead horse but what you choose should come down to your own personal use case, what you want out of a picture and what negatives each type of TV has (QD-OLED, OLED vs LCD) can you live with because they all have their drawbacks. Personally for me since 90% of the content I watch is UA-cam TV or some other streaming application picture processing is #1 important for me. The other factor most important to me is APL. I watch a lot of sports and like a bright image that pops and I don't want the picture to dim down because the TV can't maintain its APL brightness. I also want to get the biggest size screen I can that realistically fits in my room. I don't game. My living room is moderately lite but I can control the light to a degree by closing blinds if I need to. Right now my use case leads me to a SONY LCD TV because SONY processes the content I watch the most the best IMO and I like the consistent bright picture I get out of the LCD TV without it dimming down. The drawbacks I have to accept by going LCD is poor off angle viewing but I watch straight on or slightly off angle so not a deal breaker for me and LCD not having perfect OLED blacks because I do own a large movie collection and that bugs me that I am not getting perfect blacks but still that is a smaller portion of all the content I watch. It is important for me that my LCD get as close to those perfect OLED blacks as possible. Bottom line as I said at the beginning it all comes down to what is most important to you and what you are looking for in a TV, not what someone else says you should get. I think most of us viewing this channel are TV enthusiasts but most people I know and have talked to when they are in the market for a new TV are not buying any of the TV's in the shootout because they can't afford them. I have a hard time getting people to shell out $1,500 to $2,500 for a quality mid-tier TV let alone what these flagship TV's cost. Being honest most tell me there budget is a $1,000 for a new TV.
A95L won again But A95L is still the most expensive so some people will make decisions on price vs scores. For example dividing euro’s over scores. So if the tv is 3000 euro’s with an 8 score its 3000/8= 375 euro per point If another tv scores 7.8 but is 2500 euro.. Then its 2500/7.8= 320 euro per score. Thats also interesting to weigh in..
The G4, A95l and S95D are all incredible examples of current TV technology.I don"t have a problem with the Sony A95l winning the shoot. However I don"t think that the A95l was morally eligible to enter the 2023 shootout. To postpone the shootout to accommodate what was essentially a 2024 model TV was a blatant case of Sony bias.Unless you are the world"s most stringent pixel peeper the 77 inch S90D for several hundred dollars less than the 65 inch A95l would be suicidal to pass up.
I wanted an LG G5 55" with an all new Blue Phosphor pixels it isn't happening and it sucks. So I'll wait until the year LG puts it in. I want LG to fix the minor hardware issue for all categories it lost in the shoot out in. The G Series doesn't have to ever win it nor will W-OLED ever be the perfect pixel Oled but LG engineers need to address what the voters have seen to vote it for last place. QD-Oled panels after all these years have proven that it's far better than W-Oled.
@HeavyWeightHank in my opinion the Bravia 9 cannot compete at the same size of a G4. The only way is if your choosing the 85" over a 77" G4 and 83" G4. Otherwise G4
I had bought sony x90j 2.5 years ago with high hopes of sony reliability. Just 3 days ago its panel failed all of a sudden now sony asking almost half of tv cost for replacenent. Not going to buy any of sony now. Lg oled will be my next pick
Come on guys. You know if the G4 won there wouldn’t be any explanation of why it won and what the contest was about. Lengthy explanations about the specific criteria for this particular contest. We wouldn’t be having any of these conversations. It would be nothing but celebratory videos and comments. The G4 is amazing and so is the A95L. And so are you guys!❤
You guys did put Bravia 9 on a pedestal and made it appear the best TV in the world that will challenge OLED! Especially stop the fomo😅 As it turned out, the Bravia 9 was nowhere near to challenge the OLEDs , it barely won against LCD Samsung Q95D which many people didn’t even review it, Let alone discuss it. It’s interesting that both QD-OLED TVs won in the streaming section of the shootout, which many people use to watch in their TV. G4 just didn’t failed to win on colour volume, it also failed to win in other aspects including streaming.
You gathered all that information from the scorecard? Fomo and I gathered our information with actual time with both TVs throughout the year. Seems like you also missed the part where the shootout, even though technical is still subjective, is very specific to calibration and accuracy . That said, I'm glad you enjoyed your victory, and thank you for watching .
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPYhi Brian. Would you consider the b9 to be superior in sports content than any of these oleds? Especially for full field brightness? Thanks man.
I just bought a 77" G4 from LG's Partner Store and it costed about half of what it would cost for a 77" A95L which rarely gets a discount off MSRP. Even the S95D currently doesn't have great discounts and would have been significantly more expensive than the G4. The VE shootout doesn't take into account price/performance or value despite the name Value Electronics. The A95L may be the best TV, but is it twice as good as the G4? Definitely not - in the shootout the G4 was only 0.5 points (out of 10) away from the A95L.
Calibrators and TV enthusiasts seem to be picking the LG G4 as the best 2024 OLED-it is also the better value-while most professional content creators favor the Sony A95L, even in blind tests. Now, except for having an extra pair of HDMI 2.1, the G4 and S95D no longer have a gaming advantage over the A95L. Lastly, according to the TV shootout scores, all three OLEDs were trading blows, so we can expect LG, Sony and Samsung to keep pushing HDR brightness, near-black accuracy and AI picture processing to get an edge-it’s a win-win for us. Sony’s strategy of inserting the Bravia 9 between premium OLEDs and high-end QLEDs was genius.
Looked at both B9 and A95L side by side extensively in person, B9 is only slightly better for bright room and sports use cases, A95L wins in everything else
NOT EVEN BRO! The B9 does full field in SDR at nearly 1000nits whereas the A95L is like a QUARTER of that-only a visually handicapped person would refer to this difference as “Slight” 😂
Samsung is not sold by a vendor here in my region anymore. He will stop selling them from his store. Reason: to much issues and bad at resolving issues. Thus a person can choose qd oled from samsung pure for colors on other things they just lack. And those things are not tested in shootouts. In the end its all subjective choices and weighing per person.. Bad experience with a brand can also withdraw people from buying the same brand again..
Did they have the category of most enjoyable movie watching at this years shootout? I thought I remember hearing last year when they had a blind test of which tv looked the best when watching movies that the G3 won. So was curious if they did anything like that this year.
It's hilarious to see some of the reactions to this. If you love your TV, enjoy it! TVs are so awesome right now. We're spoiled for choice!
I absolutely love my 85” B9. Professional setting with some slight tweaks and the picture is incredible. I live in Arizona with tons of natural lighting and the B9 doesn’t disappoint. OLED for the bedroom and LED for the living room.
Awesome! I'm so glad you are loving it! Thank you for watching
77 inch G4 owner here, best value because no bugs, all features, insane brightness, great motion, just works. 😊 I'm happy
G4 is the only large OLED over 80"... I gotta have it
If your tv is there, you’re already a winner. Truer words have never been spoken regarding tvs.
@@partizanbgd0113 great comment! Thank you so much for watching.
My point is until I actually use the device, I don’t truly know which product is best “for me” 😅
Thanks guys!!

I bought the G4 65 inch, the best Tv I ever own I`m mind blown by it for gaming and movies its amazing
Awesome! I'm so glad you are loving it! Thank you so much for watching.
@fab9223 awesome! I'm so glad you are loving the G4 and I'm also glad we could help in some small way.
I have a 77 G4, but would be happy with any of the three. All great sets.
Well said my friend
I'm deliberating between the Bravia 8 and the LG G4.
For me, the TV does not need to be insanely bright, but I am sensitive to motion judder and like a warm and natural cinematic picture.
So I am leaning towards the Bravia 8, however can anyone swing me to the G4? And, why?
Thanks!
I have a G4 coming
What do you recommend for calibration? I’d there a reference list i can use?
Thanks
4000/9 = 444 dollar per point
Tv score is 8.5 price is 3000 dollar. Thats 3000/8 = 375 euro per point..
Get a Samsung S90D. It's around the same price and it has QD-OLED.
LG needs PHOLED or its own QD OLED PANEL. A refined A11 processor plus either above panel will really be force to be reckoned with.
I am with you I like the LG that’s the one I’m gonna get thanks again guys. Good show.
I have a B9 and two OLEDs - I never look at the B9 (and in a light controlled room) and wish it were emissive.

It’s a great and interesting discussion. I can understand the points raised. Personally, I’m running a LG CX which is 3 years old now and I still love it.
My only real concern here is that there are more companies running OLED screen technology, and only two running QD-OLED screens, with no hints that others will take this technology. I love the thought of the Sony but it’s highly expensive in the UK, and the Samsung lacks DV which I just can’t get past at this time. I also think LED-based technology I’ve left behind so it’s likely going to be LG’s OLED again.
Thanks for all the work you put in guys! I love it!
Our pleasure! Thank you so much for watching!
Primary comparison should be to the reference monitor that is used for creating films in the film industry. Secondarily, an organized set of other specific criteria is appropriate if every tv in the shootout gets to compete against the whole set of additional criteria.

I didn't take as disrespectful, my friend! I completely understand. Thank you for your comment and for watching.

She thinks that miniLEDS are bad next to OLEDS since they didn't score well in the shootout. I'd like to get your opinion on my use case to see if I am missing something or misunderstanding something about mini LEDS
1) Main viewing would be movies/shows. gaming and live sports is secondary I'd say about 70-75% : 25-30% ratio.
So it wo
uld cost me almost $1700 less for a slightly larger flagship TV.
You should import a Panasonic MZ2000 77 inch 4K OLED from England (3,799 Pounds sterling) and check one out.
Bro is on next level with his videos and love for the tvs perfect
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much!
100% brian. My mini led is waaay better in standard!
Awesome video as always Brian. Can you say hand on heart, which tv of the shootout is the best straight out of the box. Ready to go, no messing with pictures setting. My choice is between Sony A95L or LG G4. Any advice would be appreciated. Great video, and thanks for sharing.
My favorite this year is the G4 out of the box. All its presets cover the spectrum from very accurate to very vibrant.
We need to know sales info of LG, S95D etc please
Will you be reviewing the hisense u7n any time soon ? Maybe comparing it to similar TVs ? Would love to know Brian ..
Yes my friend! The U7N just arrived. I'll have a vid early next week for it .
Crazy thing is we are only 4 months away from the G5
Remember "council of 7"
Should have never mentioned that.
A95L won again
But A95L is still the most expensive so some people will make decisions on price vs scores.
For example dividing euro’s over scores.
So if the tv is 3000 euro’s with an 8 score its 3000/8= 375 euro per point
If another tv scores 7.8 but is 2500 euro..
Then its 2500/7.8= 320 euro per score.
Thats also interesting to weigh in..
would it win the Gaming category if there was one?...
Brain, what do you think about the previous samsung s95c compares to the tcl qm8 because they are around the same price range
S95D picture is killing me man😂😂😂
🤣🤣
Thanks Brian and FOMO
Why are there basically no reviews on phillips tv's like the 908 or 909..
The G4 is a great tv definitely the best tv I ever bought
Yes
Is there any way to make sure that it is a 3rd gen panel before I buy the a95l ?
No I don't believe there's with the 55" and 65" . The 77" is almost definitely as they were sold out.
It’s all good. The new HDTEST results… G4 2024 tv of the year.
Brian great work always my bro!!
Thank you!!
Bro! That was some real funeral home music. 😢😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was hilarious 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wanted an LG G5 55" with an all new Blue Phosphor pixels it isn't happening and it sucks. So I'll wait until the year LG puts it in. I want LG to fix the minor hardware issue for all categories it lost in the shoot out in. The G Series doesn't have to ever win it nor will W-OLED ever be the perfect pixel Oled but LG engineers need to address what the voters have seen to vote it for last place. QD-Oled panels after all these years have proven that it's far better than W-Oled.
Help me please. Im on the fence about the bravia 9 and the g4. Is the bravia worth the money
@HeavyWeightHank in my opinion the Bravia 9 cannot compete at the same size of a G4. The only way is if your choosing the 85" over a 77" G4 and 83" G4. Otherwise G4
If you're claiming that the other video is out of the box and the Samsung is calibrated to different specs isn't that an unfair comparison
Why are only the top tier tv's being reviewed that most average people can't afford? Where are thecTCL, Hisense reviews?!
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁you never know😇
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY thanks for the time ! Appreciate what you do
@robertconrad7521 the pleasure is mine friend! Thank you for being here.
Where are panasonic z 95 a ???
I got my A95L in may
You guys did put Bravia 9 on a pedestal and made it appear the best TV in the world that will challenge OLED! Especially stop the fomo😅
As it turned out, the Bravia 9 was nowhere near to challenge the OLEDs , it barely won against LCD Samsung Q95D which many people didn’t even review it, Let alone discuss it.
Thanks man.
I love my samsung s95d ! Great tv
Definitely not - in the shootout the G4 was only 0.5 points (out of 10) away from the A95L.
i bought the G4 83" and it was cheaper than the A95L 77". yup, QD-OLED's awesome but not by THAT much!
As long as my tv doesn't win I can't take you seriously.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Looked at both B9 and A95L side by side extensively in person, B9 is only slightly better for bright room and sports use cases, A95L wins in everything else
NOT EVEN BRO! The B9 does full field in SDR at nearly 1000nits whereas the A95L is like a QUARTER of that-only a visually handicapped person would refer to this difference as “Slight” 😂
wow... no new tv this year won this years shoot out?
Let's do this 💪
Samsung is not sold by a vendor here in my region anymore.
TVs only value Electronics offers for sale. No Hisence, No TCL , This whole thing is for the benefit of Value Electronics and their sales. $$$$
Actually, it's not true, my friend. Value Electronics is an authorized dealer of Hisense. Even TCL and Panasonic were invited. Thank you for watching
Did they have the category of most enjoyable movie watching at this years shootout? I thought I remember hearing last year when they had a blind test of which tv looked the best when watching movies that the G3 won. So was curious if they did anything like that this year.
Yes, i think You are talking of the mwave, and there the g4 won this year
We've never had a blind test of any category, however, this year the S95D's matte coating would've been easy to spot.
Lgg4 83" is on its way here🤓
@@rljunggrenz Awesome!!!!
G4 never lose
G4 and A95L are the best
G4 LOST BRO!!!! G4 is a LOSER!!!! Take that piece of junk out to the dumpster. It's life is over.
