People call me selfish when I am triggered and want to self-protect. I know I can be selfish, but calling someone with BPD selfish, seems like a disparaging, invalidating, oversimplification of what is going on in me. Does anyone else feel this?
Borderlines are taking on the guilt and shame of their loved ones...They feel guilty because of gas-lighting and then carry their abusers emotional trauma. through empathy and compassion....They get enraged that they've had to take on more responsibility than they should....this is a qoute I found on youtube and as a Borderline sufferer I hope this makes you feel better as it did me....and what seems to some as selfish is in fact a form of control to self regulate ourselves..it is not meant as some might think....WE ARE WARRIORS....hang in there Chris
I've never truly understood the professionals problems with dealing with bpd. Surely patients must present with a slew of physical and mental issues which haven't been experienced by a professional, I don't understand why bpd is so different? It's taken 40 years to get a diagnosis, many incorrect ones being made along the way. There's nothing worse when as you say you sense a lack of understanding or care from a professional, especially when in the UK you wait in excess of 6 months to see someone, just for them to give you a big kick
Having EUPD/BPD IS LIVING HELL! I PRAY FOR ALL PEOPLE WHO HAVE IT!! At the same time I am highly sensitive which can be of benefit to others because I am filled with empathy! I love love and its time I start to love myself!❤️ No more chasing people for validation. For identity etc...
Great information. I have BPD and I have to say it's great people are finally figuring out what is happening and better ways to deal with it, especially the professionals, but calling it EUPD I think is worse. People who hear emotionally unstable equate that to crazy and dangerous. Whatever group is pushing that label is not doing us any favors. So we're going to understand you better by giving a new label which will make you experience more stigma in the general public. First they lump us with narcissists and now their trying to publicly call us emotionally unstable knowing that's code to the average person we sound dangerous. Ugh. The advice of how to deal with it and what is happening is solid but please don't label us emotionally unstable. Many illnesses cause emotional instability labeling borderlines that is cruel. Borderline is a perfect name.
I was very interested in this video until I heard the announcement that most therapists have not suffered as their clients. I don't believe that is true at all.
