  • I had the honor to film Pennsylvania hunter, Mike Weaver, on a once in a lifetime bulk elk hunt. Mike was guided by Carey Bollman of Elk County Outfitters and his son Colton. Carey had 3 bulls in mind that he wanted to go after. It took awhile, but with excellent scouting and patience, Carey was able to put Mike on the number one bull on his hit list.

Just for the folks that dont know , this is not elk hunting this is buying a bull from a elk rancher. Please do not confuse this with actual hunting

Where's the ear tag. Since ranch bulls are required to have identification according to your stupid comment. Ignorance is the new norm. PA has a great WILD elk herd and produces some of the biggest scoring bulls in the US. PA also has a draw system to obtain a very coveted and limited quota of tags each fall. Do some research before spitting mouth garbage without any clue.

"It's him"???? Ya think, he is only 75 yards from you if that and you have to use binoculars to check. Domesticated without a doubt. That's not a guide by a far stretch of the imagination!

These are elk transplanted from Jackson Hole Wyoming area and are free ranging wild elk. While different than a hunt out west these elk are wild and have a different home range from farms, old mine areas and smaller stands of woods on public and private property. They are producing big elk as there are very limited tags, once in a lifetime. Because of lots of green feed and water and plenty of feed from farmsteads the elk in PA are putting up very big numbers on their antlers and bodies. These elk are much more accustomed to people from the farmers to workers but also not being able to disappear into big deep canyons or 10,000 foot mountain basins. The elk in PA, Kentucky and other eastern herds are seeing elk in areas they have not been in for over a 100+ years. It’s hard to compare these hunts with the small elk populations and only in pockets out east to that of big herds In massive wilderness areas. In some areas the wardens encourage certain animals to be taken and know where they will most likely be. It’s all part of trying to manage the small populations as they continue to grow to be around in the future. Although the hunt looks like a high fence ranch these are not that. I have friends who never in their lifetime would elk ever be returned to these areas let alone see them start to hold hunts and turn out the size they are consistently doing.
I grew up hunting Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and now live in Arizona and while I think these hunts out east are fun to see as they point to a successful reintroduction, it’s not something I’d ever see doing. But hey these eastern states need to start somewhere and this pasture looking place is better than nowhere.g

I have issue when the guide grabs the animal before the hunter. Let the hunter enjoy the once in a lifetime experience. You guides can touch and hold it later. While this public hunt is much different than a hunt out west in the wilderness, it’s a elk hunt in an area where elk have successfully been transplanted from Jackson Hole Wyoming. With a never ending supply of green feed and water year round, not subject to the extreme conditions elk out west endure from drought to winter kills, they are producing a lot giants out east. I’m sure this hunter never dreamed of hunting elk in PA in his lifetime, if they keep managing the herds properly that kid one day will get the same chance. For those saying this is not a “ real hunt” it’s a real hunt, just way different than what most hard core elk hunters think of. These elk are around many more people from farmers, miners and live on much smaller tracks of land than a wilderness area in the Rockies. Thanks for sharing

🤣🤣🤣your kidding on the public land right.... did u not see the house in the background that the person videoing got in the upper right frame then quickly come back down to the...( hunter) 🤣 while he was texting or looking up someone on his phone... I'm going to take a wild guys like guess that the house/ ranch house was roughly 200 yards back.... if this was remotely even close to public land, I wanna hunt it...I wanna be able to drive out through the herd while they are so wildly grazing and be like that's the bull I want... then drive off and make it look like a rough finding him for a couple days while driving around... not to mention at how (so wild looking that they looked like while feeding and being driven by🤣🤣) in packing my shiz and moving to the promos land where I could fill my freezer with EASE every year🤣🤣
