    Thanks for not making this video 20 minutes long when you could do it in just over 4... great bull!

    Well congratulations on your nice bull.
    As for the Pa. Elk, the game commission bought a few of them from the state of Wyoming in the 1920s.
    They were released in Elk county not far from the town of Saint Marys.
    Ive been involved in that area since i was a teen ager, and im now 87.
    We had a camp in what is now the Quehanna wilderness area in the 1950s and i can assure you there were no elk there at that time.
    Our present camp is not far from the town of Driftwood and near Mix run.
    I saw my first Elk in that area in the early 80s, but there are now lots of them.
    Fact is that it is more of an elk shoot than an elk hunt, as you well know.
    Many of them are taken on private land within the saftey zone of buildings.
    To date, 3 have been taken on our 17 acre parcel, one of which was with permission, and all within the saftey zone.
    Very few are taken where the vehicle the hunter is riding in is more than a very short distance from where the animal was taken.
    So yes, there will no doubt be a world record coming from Pa. at some point.
    But it will be simply a record kill for its size only.
    Because very little hunting or scouting is involved.
    And thats simply a fact.

    Wow, awsome. I am enjoying my whitetail hunts, but I plan to start elk hunting now that I'm retired. Congratulations on your success

      Yes, we love the whitetails as well, but chasing other animals is awesome too!

    How far was the shot ? And how many points do you have to have to draw a tag ?

    • @Whitetail_Properties
      @Whitetail_Properties  Рік тому

      Shot was about 30 yards. And we would have to ask Joe how the draw process works as he was the one with the tag.

    What I don’t get is they reestablished elk in pa around the 1920s or somewhere around that. But until this day there is only like a thousand of them apparently. So they’ve been here reestablished like a hundred years yet they aren’t spreading out in Pennsylvania. They need to import more elk or something. It’s a dream for everyone to hunt an elk or even hear one in person

    • @Whitetail_Properties
      @Whitetail_Properties  Рік тому

      Yea we aren't sure what the population is, we do know the hunting is extremely regulated because of the population.

    • @therazor9927
      @therazor9927 Рік тому

      @@Whitetail_Properties yeah but even bringing them to pa and spreading them out in different counties. And stop the hunting them completely for a decade or so. Getting the population up. If They are gonna release coyotes everywhere they need to release elk

    Elk were reintroduced to Pennsylvania in 1903, not 1950

    Any requirements to get a tag?

    • @Whitetail_Properties
      @Whitetail_Properties  Рік тому

      Yes it is a draw system. Not sure on the amount of points to draw but it is relatively difficult because of the small population.

      If they weren't harvested by hunters they would either die a slow death from old age or then be killed by coyotes. At least the hunters use the meat. Unless you're a vegetarian, keep your mouth shut

      Ever heard of wildlife management? There’s a reason that such a limited amount of tags are drawn. This bull has passed his genes on every year for years.
