@@enginecare1417 Great informative video, as you're aware there have been lots of part revisions by Toyota for this engine over the last 9 years. Is this oil squirter alignment issue on all 1GD engines (2015-2024) or is there a point in production when this was corrected?
Great content, unbiased and factual. Good work! I am struggling with Toyota as mine has timing chain rattle, especially on cold start, and also engine vibration. How can I confirm if the bottom oil pipe is not bent correctly as you showed it? They are saying they dont know and cant confirm this, and are pushing back hard.
Got our 2021 Prado DPF removed and EGR turned off Flushed engine oil and now using John Deere plus 50 II engine oil Since then no rattle at all even on cold start. Got done at 80,000km’s Just my 3 cent s
awesome experience, awesome advise, thanks mate, I hope I dont need to do that, 230 000 km's (90% hwy km's) on my 2019 Prado and the motor sounds tight, does has a small quick rattle on start up (but only on start up), I think you may have explained why
I have my hilux going back to Toyota for a second time for this exact reason.... great video and explanation! I hope Toyota's fix is similar to yours.... I was told that first time round that my timing chain assembly was not fitted with all of the revised parts. Do you know what Toyota's fix is? And whether it actually fixes timing chain slap.
Hi, this has been an issue since hilux came out in 2016. What is the reason why toyota hasnt address this issue with later productions? Or is it a design fault which can not be easily fixed?
only got 78,000 kms on our prado and the rattle is really, really bad on startup and goes away 2-3 seconds after startup but if cold you can hear it a little bit after rattling around in there, do you think it needs a replacement?
I recently purchased a 2017 sr5 it makes rattling noise when accelerating the sound is really bad when it’s about 1500 to 2000 rpm and while turning it rattles no clue what to do so stressed
High quality large pin 2 row chains with very large standalone hydraulic tensioners . This problems repeats repeats repeats since the early 80`s Chains are for the majority don`t work . Very high quality chain barely stretches
Great video mate, I’m a toyota mechanic myself and can’t believe that toyota can’t resolve the issue, will definitely be passing on this information.
Thanks 👍

Есть какие нибудь новости от toyota по данной проблеме?
1GDFTV is the reason why I bought the Gen2 Ranger Raptor and no problems whatsoever!
Keen to see when this is fixed and if the parts have been revised.

Did Toyota address any of this with the 2020 engine updates?

Happy to help. Thanks Pete.
Love your info but your audio could do with a tuneup.

Toyota was better when they stick to timing belts and gears

Great intel, many thanks. They don't build them like they used to. 👍😎🇦🇺🍻
Very true
Be careful
Some prados and hiaces after a certain build date got 3 chains
(They received a timed balance shaft)
Wouldn't finding a stronger spring be a better idea?

So would you say, after 9 years of being in service, the 1GD is well sorted?
Generally yes but the timing chain is still not resolved from factory

My hilux just broke a rocker and threw the chain at 83k . Toyota want to rebuild it, is that common practice? Assuming they are interference engines
Какой год выпуска машины?
Top shelf advice .. could not argue any advice given on this site ✅
My 2021 150 series rattles on start up. Toyota basically denying it does. Claim they can barely hear it. Dodging it hard.
Why would Toyota not see this after so many revisions since 2015? That's 9 years ago....
Hard to believe
I am only experiencing the rattle on start up. Do you think it’s necessary to have this replaced?
Yep take it back to your Toyota dealership and demand they replace it.
would running a slightly thicker oil help
1GD or 1KD which would you choose to have in your car?
WHAT TIMING CHAIN KITS ARE PEOPLE USING GENUINE OR DAYCO
Thank you, my hilux is having miss feir and not moving well
oh, I thought the hilux was unbreakable?
Toyota has had timing chain issues since the 70s. It was cheaper back the to replace the engine than fix it.
Hi,
Does these tricks can be done on 2GD (mine 2017 with 115K) thanks
High quality large pin 2 row chains with very large standalone hydraulic tensioners .
This problems repeats repeats repeats since the early 80`s Chains are for the majority don`t work . Very high quality chain barely stretches
Mate where abouts is yr business is it in QLD great info
