Thank you for the info. I’m 53 and enjoy watching women over 50 talking about their health care routine.

I started out with a subscription box of mostly younger women, but thanks to so many of you braving the world of YT, my box is mostly made of more mature women now and I love it. We eat a very similar diet, though I don't have to be gluten free but I do find my weight is controlled most by avoiding simple carbs. Oh, and did I ever tell you your Oyster Crackers were the BOMB? Made 'em, everyone loved 'em! Thanks, Melissa.

Melissa, I had no idea you have Crohn's! My husband has Celiac's which is very similar. We're not a big fan of Udi's either, but I found a GF brand called Canyon Ranch at SuperTarget and it tastes just like regular bread! Also I know coffee can cause digestive issues for those with pre-existing conditions and even those that don't. I started making cold brew coffee since it has a lower acidity, and I've noticed a big difference in how I feel afterwards. You can heat it up, too, and it won't effect the acidity. As a 20-something (almost 30!) I really enjoy the mature UA-cam channels. Y'all are just so much kinder and friendly. Your priorities are also in the right place, and I am learning so much. Thank you for creating such a wonderful channel!

Yes Carol was a sweetheart for doing this for all of us. I was so grateful and thankful to be a part of this lovely group of ladies. All you ladies been very kind and wonderful to me. I have to really thank Nathalie The beauty Diva for giving me a shout out and being able to connect with all of you. Now for this video. Tons of great choices I know what you are saying about eating at night. Everything you are saying. I do a lot of the same things. Water is the real key. I lost 100'pounds and I did some videos on my journey. I'm trying to start it back up again. Just not enough time in a day lol thank you so much for sharing all of this. All very great tips. Oh and I love your necklace. Big Hugs sweetie 😘💋❤️

I think you eat very wisely & healthy. It really is evident in your beautiful skin & hair. My daughters live in rural Virginia & I'm always encouraging them to split the costs of the cattle down there. I wish I could do that in NYC. One daughter gets her veggies, some fruit & raw milk from the Mennonites too. Eating local is so healthy for you. I'm not allergic to gluten, but I'm definitely sensitive to it & feel much better now that I'm eating gluten free. The puffiness around my eyes is gone too. Thank you so much for sharing this with us Melissa. What you might think is boring & simple is really so helpful & encouraging to us. Have a great week! ~Susanne xoxo

Do you count steps, I know a lot of people try to get in 10,000 steps. I have ms,cidp, thyroid disease and fibromyalgia so it’s hard for me. If I’m having a great day I have gotten in 7,500. I try to do yoga or some kind of floor exercise. But some days I may only get in 3,000 steps. But I still try to not get discouraged because I was on a walker 5 years ago. I’m 56 but have always been very healthy until the year I turned 50 and now my activity has had to decrease tremendously. God is Great. I do struggle with my diet, I’m not overweight but I’m only 5’2” and it shows up so much more on petite ladies. Thanks for giving me inspiration you are a special lady and I can’t wait to watch your videos! Blessings, prayers and love to you and yours. 🙏😊💛

You are so positive and full of life and energy you really hold up to this awful disease very well both mentally and physically...what an inspiration you are! A few years back (won't go into why not now) we ate a completely sustainable table... I felt great and I swear nobody believes me but I didn't have to try to lose weight it just fell off & since we been eating crappy processed food again mostly because it's cheaper I feel the difference in my body! I wish I could train my mind to think of food as fuel instead of eating or should I say gorging because of taste and boredom LOL another great video I always enjoy watching you so much!

Doug does have a twin! So adorable. You have a very good diet. It's great that you can share beef & you know where it came from. You really have to eat right for your health problems. You must have great will power not to snack. My diet has been horrible for awhile. The weight gain happened because of it. It's crazy but I know what not to eat & yet I'll do it. Some things I eat don't make me feel good. I have to listen to my body more & not eat bad foods. There's a series of books called Eat This, Not That. Really eye opening the amount of sugar, fat, sodium & additives that are in some foods. The best way to eat is simpler like you do. Good video. Much love, Lucy

Hi Melissa, I really appreciate you sharing tips on how you maintain your weight. I'm overweight and have always struggled to gain control of my eating. There's a common misconception among us overweight/obese people-- we think that people who are thin or normal weight are just naturally that way, that they don't have to work at it, they can eat whatever they want and stay the same, and we feel that it's not fair. I know this isn't true, but it sometimes feels that way! :) It's nice to see a thin/normal weight person showing that they are mindful of their food and calories and that your choices everyday impact your ability to maintain your weight. Thanks!!

BeachyBlonde614 What a wonderful, heartfelt comment. I really enjoyed reading it so much. There have been many times in my life where I have had to lose weight. I gained over 70 pounds with my first child, so I had to lose that and then again with my second child. With my Crohn's disease I have had to at times be on prednisone and that really makes you gain weight. So I do know it can be a struggle. And the older I get, the more I have to be mindful of what I eat. I really appreciate your feedback so much. Love, Melissa

Hi Bright Eyes! You are so disciplined with your diet. The sweets are my worst enemy, I crave them every day, so I try to calm them by eating fruit or a couple of squares of dark chocolate. I'm going to try your hot tea idea in the evenings. If I'm going to have a sweet...I'd rather have it earlier in the day so I can work it off. The tea might be just the thing to curb that for me at night. I have been trying to drink green tea ( for the health benefits) but I hate the flavor of pure green tea. But I have found some wonderful green teas that have ginger, or papaya or hibiscus flavors and I'm discovering I can enjoy them very much. So I'm going to try that tip for the evening when I get that god awful sweet tooth! I'm at a healthy weight range, but I ...like you will gain if I eat too much of the bad things or too late in the day. Thanks for sharing with us. :) I learn something every day on Utube. Love that!

I really enjoyed this diet discussion, Melissa. I have a similar eating philosophy--eating mostly whole natural unprocessed foods. I also greatly minimize grains & starches. I liked how you discussed portion control, as that seems to be my major challenge. I also don't eat between meals; however, my work is sedentary so I'm always striving to eat less and move more. It sounds like you are doing a great job of being totally aware of what works for you. Having to eat gluten free must be a real challenge, but so worth it for your health. I am trying to become as disciplined as you are about sweets, etc. It doesn't take much to make that mean old number go up on the scale. Smaller portions and cutting out sweets really works. Enjoyed your video and so glad you joined the community. Hugs, Judy

SCsweettea Hey Judy. I do really try to be mindful of what I put into my body especially with this disease. I swear the older we get the easier it is for the sweets to make the scale heavier! It's unfair! You are such a sweetheart. I thank you so much. Love, Melissa

With crohn's disease you have to be vigilant and careful but it's very interesting how you monitor your diet. Brilliant tips like smaller plate size, eating slowly enjoying every morsel, early supper at 5pm no eating afterwards, herbal teas and lack of snacking. Whatever your doing diet wise it's working because your healthy, have a fantastic slim figure, beautiful skin and you seem to have loads of energy. Thanks for sharing, real food for thought!!!

Melissa you know i think your one amazing beautiful woman, and i think it is wonderful and great that you do take care of yourself and eating healthy. I myself have always had weight issue's ,but i will admit i do love my food too it's a battle you could say. But i will say for myself i enjoy my pop , i only have 1 glass and for the most part i drink my water then. A habit i wanted to for sure grow into. I do cook a lot for our dinner, so we do eat pretty good for that. And i never go for seconds, long time ago i use to do that lol But i make a good meat and potatoes with veggies a lot of times for our meals. I know i would love to get most of my weight off if i can, i tend to not say i am on a diet when i am. Cause then i seem to mess myself up when i do, but i am working on better habits than what i have done in the past. And i never think it is boring for these videos, as i am getting older i like to know what everyone is doing on their journey as they are getting older too. And holy crap that cop so looked like your doug for sure!! :O How crazy is that? Sometimes i guess we all have a twin out there somewhere. I eat and do pretty much what you do, except I snack because I eat smaller portions at meals. It keeps my metabolism going and my blood sugar even. If I keep my calories below 2000 I can maintain my weight. I am planning to go gluten free again per my doc's recommendation because I am hypothyroid, like a lot of women these days.
