  • Caleb shows you how to properly bed in your brakes after installing new pads and rotors.
    Bedding in your brakes helps transfer an even layer of brake pad material onto the brake rotor which assists in smoother brake operation and improved braking power. It is important to do this to maximize the life of your new pads.

    The requirements for mine were 15 sets of 50 mph down to 10-15 mph, I was a bit scared after the pads had gotten hot and squishy but after I let them cool they work almost too good 😂

      I remember years ago a salesman from Hendrick BMW was demonstrating the breaking capabilities of an M5 on a busy four-lane highway 🛣️ m front of the dealership. He failed to look in the rearview mirror and got rear ended in the process. I would assume that salesman lost his job that day.

    I think different pads require more or less bedding. When I bought track pads they needed five more stops from 45 to 5. It was wild. Once they bedded in the power and modulation was ridiculous. It’s like the pad completely changed from a standard ceramic pad to a crazy aggressive semi metallic / carbon

    I just bought FRONT hawk hps pads from ECS but the rears from ebay because I only got free shipping for the fronts for some reason. Adding the rears brought up $56 shipping. That's insane! I'm guessing the weight was too heavy, but ECS should definitely look into that.

      The car is stage 2 with stage 3 DSG and all mounts are either solid or poly so there’s some pretty intense NVH at low RPMS.

    What does “bedding in” do

    • @ali3lia
      @ali3lia Рік тому +1

      Transfers an even layer of pad material to the rotor surface. Better braking performance vs if there wasn’t any. It happens anyway when you have driven around enough on new brakes but it’s better to do it this way so you don’t find yourself sitting on the brake pedal if the brakes are hot.

      Just bought powerstop brakes/rotors 2nd time after 5yrs they been good. Problem is where I live in New York there are cameras everywhere and the most you can go without a ticket in the mail is 34mph, 25mph is the limit but it activates 10mph above. So I will just have to do 34 to 5 a few times and see what happens. I actually didn't bed them the first time and I never had an issue. 😁

      What are you on about? This 100% matters and if you don’t do it, the next time you go to slam on your brakes trying to avoid an accident your brakes will slip since there is no traction. Whoever told you that this isn’t necessary is trying to get you killed or is just a plain idiot. It’s one thing to be ignorant but to talk about something you know nothing about is just stupid.

  • @b18tuner5875

    This is clickbait since modern ceramic brakes don't need to be bedded in. This is for older organic compound brakes. Sounds like you don't have any engineers at your company, this is an incredibly uneducated take that could only be thought of by uneducated workers.

    • @RKCorinth
      @RKCorinth 7 місяців тому +1

    • @b18tuner5875
      @b18tuner5875 7 місяців тому

      @RKCorinth Organic brakes have been phased out years ago because of their cancer causing compounds. New cars are specified for ceramics. If you're putting organics on your cars that's fine, you sound like someone who would voluntarily huff cancer.

    • @RKCorinth
      @RKCorinth 7 місяців тому +1

      They have not been phased out. It may be more of a commonality now to see newer vehicles that come pre-equipped with ceramic pads from the manufacturer; yes, however there are still plenty of new vehicles that come standard with semi-metallic/organic compound pads. Some people just prefer them. Both have their pros and cons. It really comes down to personal preference.

    • @seanb9698
      @seanb9698 7 місяців тому +2

      @@b18tuner5875 They still make organic compound pads. They started restricting how much asbestos and other metals manufacturers can use in them starting in 2010 but they are not phased out as you mentioned. Do more research before slandering the employees of this company.
