Well its 3 AM again, like it always seems to be Drivin' northbound, drivin' homeward, drivin' wind is drivin' me And it just seems so funny that I always end up here Walkin outside in the storm while looking way up past the tree-line It's been some time Give me darkness when I'm dreaming Give me moonlight when I'm leaving Give me shoes that weren't made for standing Give me tree-line, give me big sky, get me snow-bound, give me rain clouds give me a bed time just sometimes Now you're talkin in my room, but there ain't nobody here 'Cause I've been driving like a trucker, I've been burnin' through the gears I've been training like a soldier, I've been burnin' through this sorrow And the only talkin lately is that background radio You were my friend, and I was the same Riding that hope was like catching some train Now i just walk, well I don't mind the rain Singing so much softer than I did back then The night, i think, is darker than we can really say And God's been living in that ocean, sending us all the big waves And I wish I was a sailor so i could know just how to trust Maybe I could bring some grace back home to the dryland for each of us Say what you say, you say it so well Just say you will wait, like snow on the rail I been combing that train yard for some kind of sign Even my own self, it just don't seem mine Give me darkness when I'm dreaming, give me moonlight when I'm leaving Give me mustang horse and muscle, I won't be going gentle Give me slant-eye looks when I'm lying, give me fingers when I'm crying And I ain't out there to cheat you, see I killed that damn coyote in me
I think it's amazing all the wildly different circumstances in our lives that brought us here together in the same place, listening to the same song. Makes me feel a little less alone :)
I've been a ton of live concerts: here, there, anywhere.. the best show that I've ever experienced was GAI in Atlanta, with Atlanta Symphonic Orchestra. I cried.
I just don't know what to do with myself sometimes when I listen to G.A.I. - Swirl about like a simple 7-year-old again, sit and ponder the soundscapes as I would at 70 or curl up like a naked newborn and let his music cover me
"You were my friend, and I was the same Riding that hope was like catching some train Well now I just walk, well I dont mind the rain But I've been singing so much softer than I did back then" - A poet
I like pretty much all of his songs. I even find his ability of song writing exceptional and I put him next to Bob Dylan, Morrissey, Roger Waters. I just don't understand how he doesn't have their fame anyway but the talent is here. I own deep respect for this artist and I can't think of any better actual musician, except Eddie Vedder, Ben Harper and these guys are in the game for a longer time than Gregory.
+George Hathfar Fame doesn't come from talent and ability alone...tbh it comes mostly from other things. He is beautiful and I am so grateful that we have the internet which allows him to be known by sooo many people.
Christ - you compare this fine artist with some odd people to mention as superb songwriters - you put ROGER WATERS in front of people like TOM WAITS / RICHARD THOMPSON / JONI MITCHELL / PAUL SIMON / SUFJAN STEVENS and a host of others who leave BEN HARPER in the shade.
My friends and I need to dance to this for theatre class. We need to act like children & we're going to do things such as blow bubbles. It's an interesting song.
This was uploaded the day I started dating my now Fiance. It really speaks to the strange, fleeing melancholy that used to take me. Not so much anymore :)
@Karan Dubey I was a teacher up until 2 years ago (retired), and I'd often have music playing in my classroom, trying to turn teens on to classic rock, Bruce, and other random acts like GAI. I did my best, and many would come to my room after class and say, "Sir, have you heard....?" After they graduated they'd email me, and we keep finding and sharing music. A couple of girls did this song at a school concert in my last year and it was beautiful. Last week a car passed with horn honking as I was out for a run, and when they passed they were waving and blasting "Trapped" by Springsteen. Felt good.
Word. I hate to say he's the modern day bob but they're are a few artists who fall into that category. I just don't think most people listen to them. That's the curse of an intelligent artist.
Love this song. My friend made a cover of this song even better than the original I think. He personally dont want me to upload it for personal reasons
99.9% of musicians makes music, Gregory makes poetry. He is the genuine best artist that we have in recent years. Unique.
i love the good natured, nice coments on gregory isakov songs. you are all awesome, keep listening to beautiful music and being beautiful people.
Wishes to you too mate..👍
I start singing this every time I find myself still up at 3am. What a beautiful song!
Up at 3am now
i could cry listening to this song for no reason at all...
hahaha, me too
because it's a fucking ripoff of both don't think twice it's all right and little soldier.
learn some shit, kid.
It really is sad that truely great musicians never get the credit they deserve. This man is by far my favourite musician of our time!
This song makes me reminisce about things that never even happened to me. Beautiful music.
saudade -- the word for your emotion and others. look it up -- it's gorgeous
This might be called « inspiration ». Congratulations. Now you feel it, use it to create...
It reminds me of a folksy version of Better than Ezra's "Under You"..
Can't believe music like this goes so relatively unnoticed. It's a shame. Love this song.
It's too deep for most people
Well its 3 AM again, like it always seems to be
Drivin' northbound, drivin' homeward, drivin' wind is drivin' me
And it just seems so funny that I always end up here
Walkin outside in the storm while looking way up past the tree-line
It's been some time
Give me darkness when I'm dreaming
Give me moonlight when I'm leaving
Give me shoes that weren't made for standing
Give me tree-line, give me big sky, get me snow-bound, give me rain clouds give me a bed time just sometimes
Now you're talkin in my room, but there ain't nobody here
'Cause I've been driving like a trucker, I've been burnin' through the gears
I've been training like a soldier, I've been burnin' through this sorrow
And the only talkin lately is that background radio
You were my friend, and I was the same
Riding that hope was like catching some train
Now i just walk, well I don't mind the rain
Singing so much softer than I did back then
The night, i think, is darker than we can really say
And God's been living in that ocean, sending us all the big waves
And I wish I was a sailor so i could know just how to trust
Maybe I could bring some grace back home to the dryland for each of us
Say what you say, you say it so well
Just say you will wait, like snow on the rail
I been combing that train yard for some kind of sign
Even my own self, it just don't seem mine
Give me darkness when I'm dreaming, give me moonlight when I'm leaving
Give me mustang horse and muscle, I won't be going gentle
Give me slant-eye looks when I'm lying, give me fingers when I'm crying
And I ain't out there to cheat you, see I killed that damn coyote in me
Thank you
Thanks a lottttt❤
Even now that song resonates for those us who find ourselves on the open road without a home to go back to.
I hope you find a home in someone and peace somehwhere.
I think it's amazing all the wildly different circumstances in our lives that brought us here together in the same place, listening to the same song. Makes me feel a little less alone :)
Acoustic is one of the best genres hands down.
I Can't Get Enough listening to this guys music... It would be only a dream to attend one of his concerts.
I hope you get to one day. I’ll never forget the sound of it. The most beautiful noise I’ve ever heard
I've been a ton of live concerts: here, there, anywhere.. the best show that I've ever experienced was GAI in Atlanta, with Atlanta Symphonic Orchestra. I cried.
Gregory that's a beautiful piece only genius to be able to play such a great song thank you for sharing your gift with the world of ears!
I just don't know what to do with myself sometimes when I listen to G.A.I. - Swirl about like a simple 7-year-old again, sit and ponder the soundscapes as I would at 70 or curl up like a naked newborn and let his music cover me
I have every album. Such beautiful music to work, play and relax to. I don't think my friends get why I love this guy. Their loss.
October 10 2018 in Vancouver I get to see this amazing artist live in concert!!! Can’t wait!!
going to his show tonight with the Lumineers in Dallas. Haven't heard of him before now, but excited.
this shit brings me down to me knees every fuckin time...
shit his lyrics really move to tears
This just might be the most beautiful song I have ever listened to. For every reason there is.
What a wonderful music artist 😊❤️👏.
makes me contemplating how many people are appreciating this kind of music...and how wonderful they are too.
Coming back, a few times after first found it just when it was released, nine years and how come it’s still not discovered by all!!!!!
Such poetry.
Barry Seymour aye aye. this is poetry.
"You were my friend, and I was the same
Riding that hope was like catching some train
Well now I just walk, well I dont mind the rain
But I've been singing so much softer than I did back then"
- A poet
on repeat for the past 3 days
One of the purest songs ever. Its not edge, its truth.
I like pretty much all of his songs. I even find his ability of song writing exceptional and I put him next to Bob Dylan, Morrissey, Roger Waters. I discovered this man through Californication. I regret nothing.

Give me darkness when I'm dreaming
Give me moonlight when I'm leaving
Gotta do my best to turn more people onto his music. Beautiful.

Helen Paul You're pretty!
You're prettier!
GREAT song
Listening to this while taking a way too young pet of mine to be put down. God damn it hurts
How could one soul not like this song, let alone 33?
because they have their auto-tuned rap album in that sounds just like the last one before it, and then the last one before that, and then......
singing so much softer than I did back then...
I just love this.....pure poetry
And then there's that one person who meant to press the like button but was so moved by this amazing song that they pressed the dislike by accident
the thing i love this song because its like a quiet song like a lullaby simple... everytime i go in my computer i always plays this song
no words ...just wow
It's 3 a.m. again, and this song saves me.
this is sooooooooo!!!!!!! smooth
Such a beauty
Reminds me of my dreams
I love this so much. i cant even.
shame on the person who disliked this
why because they don't like the same music as you, so they should feel shame for having an opinion? so closeminded
I'm here again and I'm fine Al hamdoulilah 🎉❤
Amazing!
Who else is listening to this at 3,A.M ?
It's because there's a select few who are able to appreciate. Sad fact about society.
I REALLY DON'T CARE ABOUT MUSIC ANYMORE UNLESS IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS!!!!!
Listening to this at 12:15, because I like the song not because it's 3AM... And I'm usually asleep at 3 :)
I'm listening to this at 3 am
I have reported this song to PETA. There was no need to kill that damn coyote
terry tibbs Oh but there was.
walking outside in the storm while looking way up past the treeline....everyday
"Even my own self, It just don't seem mine"

for some reason some of the guitar parts remind me of the song streets of london
Well it's 3am like it always seems to be
Nice tone. Really warm voice. I would like to know what guitar you're using if you read your comments. I think it sounds j45. Always wanted one.
+Lindsey James Williams its obv not HIS song; he just uploaded it
+Lindsey James Williams gregory allen isakov plays gibson
He probably cares less about the kind of guitar he is playing than you do. Just soak it up who cares
you just need to let them listen ... :)
Not a song I don't love by him!
Just one for me. Salt & the Sea.
wow I never noticed really, you're right- early, early Prine though..
Hi Jack.... Thinking of you baby....
Sub spanish?
Love this song. My friend made a cover of this song even better than the original I think. He personally dont want me to upload it for personal reasons
