David, thanks so much for checking out the videos. I had the same exact plan originally but I ran across a thread on KLR650.net talking about lowering the pegs. I decided to go that route because I was worried (probably overly so) about the shifter damaging the case.
Im 6'6" and have installed the klr rally dash and zero g double bubble windscreen. Its a huge improvement over the oem. I may change to the zero g sport as its a little taller but im pretty pleased with my current setup. I also switched to the moose racing extended shift lever. With my freak foot size 15s my riding boots comfortably fit under it.
Thanks man. I dig the yellow too... its almost orange at times too. The JNS mounts are awesome. I didnt want a longer shifter cause it scratches the heck out of the engine case.
Thanks for watching! They are a game changer for sure and saved me from scratching the heck out of the engine case with a longer shifter. They work great!
@@BOC_Adventures did you use the stock shifter with them. I have the ims and its shaped so I can't lower it enough. I'm going to throw my stock one back on
I initially tried the IMS longer shifter and it helped some. Then I got the JNS lowering brackets and they work much better for me (long legs). Much more comfortable and I was able to go back to the stock shifter. Standing up is much more comfortable as well. I have the KLR dash risers and the Zero Gravity Tall Touring screen, it's much better than stock. I had the same problem, wind hitting the chin bar of my helment.
Thanks AzMtnThumper. Sounds like you got your KLR dialed in. So many farkles.... Totally agree on the mounts. I love the after market options on the KLR. It is one of my favorite things about it.
Thanks Joseph much appreciated. I do like the mounts. It helps out with big feet and long legs. I decided on these after reading about guys scratching up their engine case with the shifter and I thought a little leg room was always a good thing.
I get the 2" lowered for tall folks. I have a bad hip and with 30" inseam still find it a bit cramped. do you think they would help with sitting more strait up? Also, what about the brake pedal any issues there? Thanks
I've ordered the JNS Lowering mounts for the foot pegs - they sound like just what I need - great review! Did the Happy Trails Center Stand cause you much aggravation when installing the JNS lowering mounts? I ask because I've got the center stand as well and am wondering if it's going to be a pain when installing the JNS mounts. Did you have to get longer bolts to mount them (because of the center stand)? Good luck with the KTM!
I didn’t have any issues that I can recall I don’t think I had to get longer bolts. These mounts were one of the best mods I did to the KLR. It gives you a lot more legroom.
i need to get some new footpegs the stockers suck in wet mud. i will consider lowering the pegs and some bar risers. should make the KLR better for my lean muscled boyish frame of 6'5" FC
At 6'5 these mounts will definitely help. I am 6'4 and added these because I didnt want to add a longer shifter that would scratch the engine case. The by product was a really nice foot position. I need to add bar risers as well.
I've got the IMS Shifter, but after seeing these....I'm considering getting the lowering brackets. I've got the same footpegs and love them. Haven't taken mine offroad yet (shameful) no options down here in the Fredericksburg area.
Thanks for checking out the video Ron. VDOT has a website that maps out all the gravel roads in the state. You should check it out. Probably some good stuff down near AP Hill or King George area.
I'll check it out. I know I can get on AP Hill, and they have a lot of gravel roads....I might need to take a fishing trip on the KLR! I just uploaded a video of the mods I've done to mins so far...the bike is shamefully...not dirty...lol
Thanks man. I am definitely working my way toward a camping setup. I have been accumulating bits and pieces as I go..(sleeping mat/pillow, sleeping bag, camp stove) but I still need a good tent. I also have to get some panniers of some sort.
Sold. I need those lowering mounts
They have worked out good for me so far. They let me keep the stock shifter and give me some good leg room.
Yo....scratch what's going on my friend...
I wish you would come back.
Appreciate it Jeff. I am still making vids but more focused on camping and riding. I plan to put a few out over the next few weeks! Thanks!
I now have about 1400 miles on my 2018. Went with the same Tusk pegs but decided to go with an IMS extended shift lever.

Thanks for watching Brian! I keep hearing great things about the dash. I will have to take a look at those screens you mentioned.
You cannot go wrong with the rally dash. Even with the oem windscreen its a huge improvement. I highly recommend it.
That kinda looks like the way I have mine. I love that yellow!
Thanks man. I dig the yellow too... its almost orange at times too. The JNS mounts are awesome. I didnt want a longer shifter cause it scratches the heck out of the engine case.
@@BOC_Adventures ya, my case is scratched up pretty bad from the shifter.... I might gotta do something about it......
just ordered mine!

Backwoods ADV Yes...I kept the stock shifter seems to work ok with my boots. Let me know how it goes. Good luck with it!
@@BOC_Adventures will do thanks bud
@@BOC_Adventures stock shifter works perfect. Very comfortable.

Oh yeah, I reccomend the JNS skid plate, easy to install and tested on lots of AZ rocks!!

Been wondering bout putting lowering brackets and new pegs on mine. Think I will now that I’ve seen yours.good vid brother.👍🏻

Try the mad stad windshield, it’s incredible
Thanks for checking out the video Jim. I have heard nothing but good things about the Mad Stad as well.

Subscribed! Great vid and thanks for the call out!
Appreciate it..my channel is not KLR specific-just a heads up..lol!
No worries. Mine isn't supposed to be either lol.
Another good video.. you ever thinking about doing the camping video?

I'm working on this combo today. if I can just get those springs to cooperate. lol
Great Videos brother, subscribed
Alan, thanks for the sub and for checking out the videos. Cheers!
