Two sides of Finns. When Finland wins the Icehockey World Championship you are allowed to hug strangers, be everybody's friend. I have attended the celebration once, there were 70 000 people in the market square area in Helsinki. When Finland wins we say "Torilla tavataan", "Meet you at the square!" Nowadays if Finland is mentioned abroad even remotely positively, does not matter what it is about, it's "TORILLA TAVATAAN!" (But you just say that, you don't go.) I did not take part in swimming in the Havis Amanda fountain. I think they, The City of Helsinki, decided not to allow that anymore. They fear for the statue. The fountain is also important during the vappu, 1st of May, celebration. Havis Amanda gets the white sudent cap placed on her head by the student organizations' representatives. Now they have to use a crane to do that, no climing anymore. Thanks for the funny reaction.
How is that different from New Years eve party for example? It is okay to hug strangers next to you, when there's common interest into something: you are not bothering some people who couldn't care less.

In New York, they say, the best party when the rangers celebrate the NHL championship. I was in Heling 2019 to celebrate Finland's world championship with a group that should not have had any chance beforehand and this unites the people, i.e. a positive phenomenon. Did you know that Florida Panthers captain Barkov, who won the NHL championship, was from Finland? And another thing that drives me mad. I have tried for years to connect to my kinfolk (they are ALL in Finland) via Facebook. They all have accounts. But guess what? None of them reach out! None of them even post or comment on Facebook! I could write that I am dying of cancer and i bet ANYTHING they wouldnt comment! I know this for a face because my mom here in America has been hospitalized for two weeks and her four sisters and rest of kin aint even reached out to her or me or even commented on all my update posts. Shame on them all. I swear the more and more I see how they are, the more I resent being Finnish born!
Typically finnish. There'sa finnish saying: The family is the worst. And that's how it is. So keeping distance to one's kin is usually the best policy.
@@HelsinkiFINketeli_berlin_com that is horrible. Think about most Americans and especially hispanic and black cultures, they are tight and loyal and supportive and take care of each other. Shame on Finland.
@@MokuleiaVibes Oh yes. IT IS horrible. But the fact is the finns have been and still are in many ways the most primitive existing europeans. The core elements of finnish culture, still celebrated even, have been envy, greed, malevolence, opportunism, self-grandiosity and obscurantism. These elements are to be traced back from Kalevala to the literature, movies, tv-series and such of these days. It's the same in relationships and everyday life and the finns find it all eventually funny and entertaining in some pervert way. Decency and integrity are not finnish virtues adored in a person while one lives, but only afterwards, and are often based on one-sided fabrication. Which adoration usually turns into semireligional personal cult of the deceased. All the best for you Kristina Marie from Helsinki, Finland. 👍🙂
@@HelsinkiFINketeli_berlin_com why dont they want to change? They see American tv and see how Americans are family oriented? Finns must be a bunch of very lonely people. So sad.
@@HelsinkiFINketeli_berlin_com i think that is what bothers me even more, that Finns seem proud of these traits in s perverse way and think it is funny. It is not. Me and my sister are suffering greatly from being raised (if you call it that) by Finnish parents, and now dealing with our aging parents who have no desire to be helped by their own children even when they are a danger to themselves.

i never have hearding peoples in finland using word "lumilapio" from greetings others so forget that it is not a greeting word.I think it is someone finnish person awkvard black humour.
I´m living a dream, but all my dreams are surrealistic nightmares though.
That was a team pretty close to no one even in finland gave any chance for winning the championship...
Do or do not there is no try... thats for the celebration vs depresion
And you pribably didnt know that it was winter
Wtf i've never heard anyone fool someone by saying lumilapio means hello
Ice-Hockey does not affect my feelings at all!
LOL Thanks for the new meaning for the word "WTF" :D

I don't know if you believe this but we kinda like hockey a bit
Now in Turku is +10 Celsius and.... Daark☻
Ei Ole kiva ☺️ minun mielestani
Yeah it’s either vodka or hockey that can bring finns together (well that actually works in Sweden as well). 😊🍻
no it is hockey, alcohol and sauna in finland.
Hei Rachel, was fun to see your reaction to celebrating icehockeycrazy finns that so many of us are when we play from world championships.
I'd like to suggest to you this finnish band ( don't know if it's familiar to you already)
Poets of the Fall , hope you enjoy it as much as from the Nightwish music

Yes, some Finnish people are loosing their marbles... 😁

And btw mörkö means kinda a funny word for beast-
Pistolapio, betonilapio, ojalapio, viljalapio, kenttälapio......LUMILAPIO Raakkel...greetings from Turku.
Heyyy Turku!! Nice. Greetings from Texas
We have won in 1995 2011 and 2019
Just wait until you see when Finns get angery...
I think "lumilapio" originates from this old ad ua-cam.com/video/OjxN-5Cyr1Q/v-deo.html
This was from 2011. Can't wait to see celebration clips from next time Finland wins the world championship of ice hockey
It said 2019 in the description. Anyway, it was so much fun to see that side of Finns. Take care! Have a good weekend!
@@WildwoodVagabond I said I can't wait... but Ismo Leikola will probably say "You need to practice waiting" =D
This was definitely from 2019. That's when "Mörkö" (Marko Anttila) was the key player for a win.
@@waltteriwirtanen8753 There might be clips from 2019 in the video. I am not contesting that
Was She even finnish because She laughed😂
Good, great, excellent! Loved the little bonus in your video! And I hope we can finally dump Trump for good! Stay safe, Rachael!
Me toooo lol
Have a good weekend ❤️
