Cake toppers are an awesome way to use your Cricut. Adding a print then cut element can really enhance the look of your design without adding a ton more work for you the amazing creator! I made this cake topper with cardstock from Michaels. the Cricut Maker, Foam tape, Art Glitter Glue, and Print then cut and it only took about an hour! So grab a seat and learn how to use Print then Cut with your Cricut to create fun colorful designs to use with cake toppers!

Bamboo sticks are great to stick into the cake and you don’t have to worry about them getting soggy.

Another option to the paper straws is to cut the backer with rectangles at the bottom for sticking on your glowforge, Usually out of a thin piece of acrylic oh.. I also score the image to provide a guide for the pieces cut on the Cricut Works great. I never thought to use foam tape love it. Your design is perfect as a door hanger for a little one. I did this as my first ever project and you are so clear totally that it came out cool. Only difficulty I had is that I can't select like you in the video 2 items to weld so had figure out other way. Thanks so much
Corrine used the shift button on computer, on the first offset in the layers panel then clicked on the second one and pressed weld, xx
Im having the same problem once I hit weld, my rainbow disappeared. How would I bring it back? Sos 🆘
Great video and so easy to understand for a beginner cake topper maker. My print then cut doesn't work, I've tried so many ways to calibrate my machine with no success. What would be a great alternative to the print then cut since it limits me alot.
Hand cutting probably would be your best bet or check out the hack I post for a full page print then cut. It basically tricks your machine into doing print then cut without scanning the lines

I have a question! When you first sent it to your printer was that regular paper that you used? Or would i put my cardstock paper in my printer?
This part was kind of confusing for me lol. I am a cake decorator and I’ve been trying to figure out what’s the thicker paper called that you can use to print images on

But just a regular like 65 or 80 lb cardstock? I thought I needed to use a thicker photo paper.
@@sasgrl90 you can use whatever you want to this is all 65 or 80 there is no reason to use photo paper

@@victoriasmith2965 I use an Epson Ecotank and I used the Maker for this but you can do print then cut with the Explore, Maker, Joy XTRA, and venture machines

What size is your cardstock? Mine is 12x12 and how do I get the circuit to cut the outline of the unicorn ?

You need to remove the background and save it as a print then cut image
One Question. Never checked to see if you have a video explaining it but.. I want to know how to get the image to come out in color.. each time I load it to design space, it's just a black silhouette and not color and it's driving me.. lol any tips?

It’s not a cricut font. However the original place I got the font is not available anymore so I will see if I can find it tomorrow
I'm not understanding print and cut. There are so many Disney images in DS that I cannot print, even though subscribed. Why can't I just add them to canvass and print from cricut?
Are you based in the US?
Only people in the United States Can use licensed images. Also you have to pay for those designs so that may be some of the issues. They are also not all made for print then cut so you would have to change the operation to print then cut if they are not set up that way.
Also the Cricut doesn't do the printing you have to have an outside printer.
@@CorinneBlackstone No, I'm in Canada. But I am paying for DS, and it doesn't give me an option to pay for specific designs. I was speaking specifically to the Disney princess dresses. Can't even cut them. I know the print part is for an outside printer... I used print instead of 'cut' for my question. Sorry about the confusion.
@@loribest6929 yep you can’t have them. They are only licensed for people who live in the United States. Disney is super restrictive and expensive for licensing.

Why can’t I weld the offset and back layer
It won’t let me select both of them
Be aide design space is evil. Truly it doesn’t always work the way we want. Redo the offset and see if it works

Can you please show the print and cut in more detail? An example of what I mean is how do you know when to print each color (offset)? I really need help because I wanted to make toppers for my boyfriends son’s graduation! TIA 20:55
It’s all on the make it screen. It shows you each color as it cuts so you know what color or what material to load onto the mat and cut at that time.
Hi, after I welded my name offset and rainbow offset my rainbow disappeared all together. 😢 any tips on this?
@@gios4412 you don’t weld when doing print then cut. You can flatten or attach depending on what you want the machine to do
