Looking back at this video because Tarot de Paris is definitely among my top 5 favorites, and I'm interested in finally getting this deck. I constantly find new things I love about the Tarot de Paris. One thing I noticed while watching this video was the Valet de Baston is not depicted as a young boy but rather a bearded older man. What I like about this so much is that it defies ageist tendencies and really expands the meaning of the Page as the "learner, inexperienced, newcomer" archetype, which can be anyone, even people more advanced in years! Or in other words, "you CAN teach an old dog new tricks". And people of any age can still embark on new passions or endeavors.
Hello Marilyn, thank you for another lovely presentation! You are the source ; ) Do you know if any non facsimile decks of this particular tarot exist?
Hello! Thank you for your lovely comment. As of this moment, the only non-facsimile version of the Anonymous Tarot of Paris that I'm aware of, is the one in this video by The International Museum of Tarot in Italy. The images are very clear and much easier to understand than the facsimile deck on the right. I have it on good authority that another modern publisher will be creating a restored version in the not-too-distant future. So keep eyes open! Thank you for watching and commenting. 🌞 ~ Marilyn
Oooh, I do love the Italian version ~ the clarity of the coins is so nice! Luckily, I found out that the Tarot museum is selling a 2nd edition right now! The other version, I found being sold on Tarotbg, so yay for options, but I daresay my mind is made up!
That's great! I'm glad it's available. I know that the folks over at Artisan Tarot will also be publishing the Anonymous Tarot of Paris within a year, so keep your eyes peeled. I'll be sure to do a sneak preview of it when they do their kickstarter. It's definitely right up there as one of my absolute favorites! ~ Marilyn
