This might shock some of the people here who have NO LIFE, but as someone who has hiked, climbed, skiied and telemarked a lot (how many of you here know what that last one is?) it can actually get boring after many years, cuz ultimately it is all pretty much the same, the landscape just comes in different shapes, sizes, and weather conditions, and in Western Canada, it is cloudy, cold, windy, raining or snowing most of the time October to April.

My favorite Johan story was him biking over Tioga Pass in the snow and the Park Rangers issuing him a citation. They thought he might be irresponsible. I think he eventually got out of the fine. Nice tribute.

Nice to do a video in Iohan's memory. My understanding is that he had sleep issues for quite a while - anyone who has had to deal with that knows how debilitating it can be. I hope that somehow he knows how much enjoyment he brought to people, through his videos and his life.

He inspired me to get off my ass and chuck everything I owned into my Magna Wagon and just drive back in 2017/2018 and now I am still living nomadically trying to explore (bush fires, state lockdowns and fuel prices have kept me stuck the past year) but in my own fitted out van now, here in Aus.
It was through your instagram that I found out about his passing last year.
I have never cried or felt as much hurt for someone that I've never met before, as I did about hearing of his passing. He was such a gentle genuine beautiful soul.

I started watching his films just after the first film . I loved that he never took the easy way out and that the people he met were always amazed at his journey. I would get so worried between films and then relieved and amazed at the next instalment of the adventure that was his life. I was deeply saddened when the news broke of his death . I have on the wall in my sitting room a wonderful print of a painting some one did of him .

@@HughJorgan1 I think the point being made is, Foresty, don't stress over having to please Viewers with content. No argument that having a UA-cam channel that can sustain a Foresty lifestyle is a win, but it can also be a lot of pressure for the content creators who enjoy their 'freedom' in the wild. E.g. the channel My Self Reliance and more to Hugh's point maybe, The Bike Wanderer that this video is in Memory of. : )

Iohan was everything you said and more--such an inspiration to me, his kind spirit, his love for animals, his ability to suffer through all kinds of heinous conditions, his courage. Huge loss and this is pure speculation but I think if not for Covid, he might have continued traveling and maybe not ended up as he did, that the traveling maybe kept the worst of his condition in check just enough? Like I said, pure speculation and me just wishing he was still around. Anyway, I've spent hours watching his videos and yours (it was your first bike touring vids that brought me to your channel) as fuel for my own adventures. I didn't meet Iohan and I haven't met you, but when I'm on my bike, you both come to mind and I'm grateful for the companionship and kindred spirit. Thanks for doing what you do.

Don't feel pressure to perform on here. Same as Steve. We enjoy when we see it but a person's welfare is much more important and it's dangerous for you both. Your little girl is so so beautiful. Your videos as I am sure the several hundred thousand subscribers you have also agree, we all look forward to a new FF or MM video. You are on a par with Iohan, you just do things differently your way. It is interesting that Iohan too loved dogs like you do and you have Rocco. Iohan often travelled with a dog. Thank you for this video. Iohan left a huge impact on me, and definitely contributed towards me finding my own adventures. The first video of his I saw was the first in his series. Cycling from the Arctic Circle on ice roads. That was seared into my mind. One of my favorites of his is "Bikepacking the Canol Trail". The images of an abandoned mining road in the Canadian Wilderness, with its contrast of carless human littering and stunning natural landscape, paired with good music and poetic narration, resulted in a unique and beautiful film. Sometimes I felt like his narration and love of folk rock got to be a bit too cheesy, but really that was just cynicism getting in the way. He really meant and felt those words. Like you said, he lived life to the fullest.
Thank you Iohan. May you be at peace.

Since we're alive, we might as well live... I do but then I watch Foresty Forest and feel like a total slacker..

I just found your second channel , so glad I did. I have been watching since I saw you on the Steve Wallis channel and I love your content! Keep it up and don't let these negative unhappy people effect what makes you happy. Thanks again

Sadly this isn't the first story of a great person who shared a good part of their life on the Tube before passing suddenly. Thanks for sharing his story bud.
