Caught redeye getting hellegermites and small crawdads under big rocks
Heck yeah that's what my dad taught me some of our hellgermites would Pinch the creek Goggle Eye 👁 rock bass in the swift water in the Ozarks on Rocky Creek
I would give anything to have grown up with you. You make me miss fishing with my dad and his brother. They were on them Crappie all the time. Explaining every little thing. I absolutely love fishing. All the little secrets. Figuring out the patterns. Keep it up Richard this is what all the kids need to be watching instead of video games.
It is important to take what you learn and get out there and apply what you learn. Don't get bogged down with too many lures. Simplicity is best. For lures I use a crappie jig a buzz bait a kvd splash a wakebait and during fall a jerkbait. I use a 7 inch leader if there's heavy cover I'll use a 1/10 oz egg weight with a fluke on a size 1, 2, 4, or 6 baitholder on the 7 inch leader. I'll use trophy bass or nightcrawler by procure. A drop shot or a 7 inch leader tied to main line with a bobber 12 inches above where the leader is tied. The other 7 inch leader with a baitholder hook and splitshot or egg weight is a bottom rig. Finally I'll use a small spinner bait that's it. Yes it's a ton it seems. You'd spend $100.00 dollars on lures I use what I use an do well. 😊❤

My grandad's favorite bream bait was wasp larvae. The trick was getting the next without getting stung.
Pair them with using a porcupine quill for a cork and that setup is unbeatable!

I caught two big rock bass today, first this morning on a big betts fancy popper. Later around noon on a Berkeley butter worm. Caught a few nice bluegill too but not many👍

I love catching rock bass. Some people seem to consider them trash fish or whatever but I love it. I have caught them on everything from trout magnets to 5” yum dingers and everything in between. It’s most fun when I hook into one using my ultralight, they put up a fun fight on ultralight.
Those rock bass hit really well at or after dark. Not a lot of meat on em, they have a large bone structure, but the meat is great
