This was great!! You guys hit on all the points from a video I watched before this episode and more, and I loved hearing your thoughts on the combat and similarities to MGS2, like the menu sounds. I love that song you included in it (that plays during the opening) - I was listening to it on loop for a little while! Super excited for Pokémon next episode, that should be a fun one! And I was just thinking about multiplayer games you guys have included on the list the other day... It's great you're doing another one!
Shame the game was so low on the list. It had potential. I fell behind but i have caught back up on The Bonus Points. I had to catch up to get ready for Pokemon Gold and Silver. This is the most hyped i have been for a Bonus Points podcast. I can't wait! I hope the fellas enjoyed it.
I’m so happy Oli asked how Jo would make a mecha game, it feels like the genre in general is disparaged purely from its premise so hearing about the disconnect between gameplay and concept and his other criticisms and concepts was such breath of fresh air. If you boys are still in the mood for mechs after Titanfall 2 might I suggest Mechwarrior 2 for a game more in line with a slower more methodical simulator like style which weirdly enough feels like something I’ve commented before…
I played the first and second game. The first one was ok, I liked the music and the design of the mechs. I also though the moment when Anubis was introduced was good. Some of the music reminded me of mgs2, I’m pretty sure they used some parts of the mgs2 soundtrack in the game. I enjoyed the second game more. I played it on normal difficulty, and while it was much more difficult than I expected, I also thought it made the combat more engaging. I liked that there was much more variety in the gameplay with the set pieces, although the train one was quite difficult, I enjoyed having to try and come up with a strategy that would work and I ended up destroying the train with 2 seconds to spare. I also enjoyed the moment when you get the 0 shift upgrade and it makes all the normal enemies a joke. I imagine this was made better because I played on normal and the enemies were quite difficult at times. The Ken escort mission was painful, I liked the music though. I didn’t have too much trouble understanding the story, but it wasn’t great anyway. I also agree with Joe’s point about the subweapons, you get way too many of them too quickly. It helped I was familiar with a few of them from the first game though. I also though the vector cannon was really cool, despite the fact that there’s no point using it except for at two points in the game. The voice acting was interesting, I don’t think any of the characters have bad voices, in the second game at least, it feels like they had no direction at all though. I enjoyed the games, the music was the best part though.

The 2D animation looks really good! Also also I just finished Good Boy Galaxy! It was really good, right up my alley! 😁
The stickers on the laptops are increasing in number! At this rate they'll be covering the camera before long 😯

Just signed up for the skate 4 play test too so I’m def in the skate mindset this summer
Is space opera another game or a genre of musical theater? Either way I’m intrigued.
Musical theater I'm pretty sure, heard it used in films like tick tick boom
It’s like tv soap opera, not like singing opera. Haha
A space opera is a genre. For instance, the original Star Wars trilogy is a space opera.
I miss when you were Stampy cat 🥺
