Vouchers are not even remotely high on the list of problems. They are not even really the problem, the problem is the team doesn't come up with a way to utilize them and eliminate the supply. They could easily remove massive amounts of vouchers by making them redeemable for packs or other "perks", and not just discounts. If I could just burn 250 vouchers for a pack of rebellion, without having to spend any additional money, there wouldn't be a huge supply. The problem is they are using them as a discount token, and no one wants to spend $500 on packs, to burn through their voucher supply as a discount.
Cut voucher print rate by 50% each season until you retire them. Then have one item in the glint shop each season be purchaseable with vouchers forvthe first batch. Slowly soak them up as you phase them out.
Just have a voucher burn event and convert them to dec-b. Going forward burn sps to get discounts. It was clear early on vouchers were a bad Idea. So many wasted money buying vouchers to buy chaos packs that were never scarce. What's next? We finally realize sps is over minted and implement a halving? Why does it take 3 years and 90% of the community leaving to fix the issues?...
Regardless of any suggestion, what you are asking will take Dev. time to implement your idea. Well guess what... from now on the DAO has to cover the cost of dev time. This is from Matt last week in TH: "Yes, I think in the past we made a mistake by always just doing the work for free since we had the funds which got the community used to that. We no longer have the ability to do that and going forward we are going to be asking for more funds from the DAO in order to be able to continue doing things for them"
Why would you go through all this just to give an unneeded token utility? We can just get rid of vouchers and then use promo events that eat up DEC and cards, which will actually help the economy. I'm firmly on the side of getting rid of vouchers entirely. And I think soulbound vouchers would be an enormous mistake. Especially if they act in any way as an access token.
@@AfterSoundGaming yeah but typically everyone ends up agreeing with me after they get their way and have to admit they were wrong. (massive card prints, SPS for RW, NFTY will bring in thousands of players, prices dropping is a good thing, getting rid of bots won't hurt the economy because it will bring in real players, DEC-B is beneficial, rebellion will grow the player base, we should give rewards early for land and SK, etc etc etc) Besides, you've admitted a few times that vouchers are a bad idea and the only reason you don't want to get rid of them is that you get a bunch and like selling them. Could there be a worse reason to keep something than "I like selling them"? You don't have to do much soul searching to know they should be gotten rid of.
Vouchers would be a good idea to promote staking sps over a long period of time buttttt the team has a terrible record of releasing stuff WAYYYYYYY before it's ready... *cough* land *cough*
Im guessing if Matt did not talk about idea of handling vouchers this video would not be happening even though situation would have been the same as always. Nothing against you but it shows the suggestibility from which content creators like everyone else "suffers". Intersting study of our functioning
Everyone wants to improve their own financial position. How about, not trying to squabble over cents and actually attract players? 40k vouchers a day is only 800 a day at 2 cents. (Why value them at 5 anyway?) Not everything has to have a voucher discount anyway.
dont undersant why we try to fix a problem without a solution. we just need 1 token onchain , sps. we can burn all the others. create a swap ratio to sps, reduce 1B total supply of sps (2B). Dao buys dailly sps everyday to fund the game after all sps is minted. its so easy!
I’m starting to think there’s bad actors in this space negatively trying to put down Splinterlands with all these crazy proposals though. Think about it; be part of a competitive game, makes lots of money in that game: use that money to manipulate DAO in Splinterlands and push players away into other web3 games. Bye bye no more Splinterlands players
REMOVE VOUCHER PERIOD. (All existing vouchers will only be used to upgrade guild, pass to buy promo cards) SPS should have been used as discount token with it's minimum value of 5 cents ( this is the requirement for us to trigger listing) For example SPS now is less than 1 cent but the value for discounting is 5 cents. If we come to a point that the value of sps is more than 5 cents then it should be valued at its market value which is higher than 5 cents, I hope SPS will be used during the unlocking of soulbound cards. For me that will save SPLINTERLANDS. Hopium ❤
Voucher Lives Matter! I'm auto downvoting any proposal that tries to eliminate them or make them soulbound. What we need is to make them better. Rebellion packs are super overpriced anyway. Just make the voucher discount higher in future packs and allow them to be used for a higher total discount. That will make players use them up. But seriously, why are people worried about vouchers? They don't matter in the grand scheme.
People must be really bored. Someone is going to spend money submitting a proposal on the horribly centralized decentralized DAO to tweak one of the umpteen tokens?
How about going back to basics. Why did this god-awful failed experiment ever need more than one token? Many of us who gave up on this game years ago can't even be bothered to jump through the hoops required to exit. So our assets just fester.
insane remembering that vouchers went for $20 each at one point

Now are you willing to pay to cover the cost of your ideas?

I see your point but there are people all across the spectrum here.
Give vouchers appropriate utility
Make them SB
Remove them

Delete vouchers
They never should have existed
Tokenising the utility of an already existing token (sps) was sooooooo silly
I’m waiting for the proposal to come thru

Vouchers should never have become the discount token

The masses are clamoring for a Peps McGregor promo card!!!
Now that's a card I'd pay a lot of money for

My preference is the same as yours. I’d rather find use cases for them.
People must be really bored. Someone is going to spend money submitting a proposal on the horribly centralized decentralized DAO to tweak one of the umpteen tokens?
We’re addicted to proposals
