SSRI Tapering: Dry Cut Method (For Demonstration Purposes Only! Please Read Disclaimer!)

A demonstration of the 'dry cut' method for slowly decreasing (tapering) one's dosage of a tablet medication (in this case I'm demonstrating with a Lexapro 20mg tablet).
Some very important notes:
1: This method rests on the assumption that the active ingredient is equally distributed throughout the pill/tablet. This is often not the case.
2: There are some tablets that should absolutely never be cut, including those with extended release mechanisms.
3: This video is intended to demonstrate how the methodology works (only). It should not be construed as medical advice. Please consult with your prescribing physician, psychiatrist or pharmacist if considering using this method for tapering off a medication.
4: There are other and likely more accurate and safer alternatives for tapering off medications including titrating special liquid formulations and water-based titrations for water-soluble medications.

And you could save your shavings and little chunks to use at the back end of your taper when you’re basically micro dosing.
