I want to watch more videos and then I want to take UA-cam and write it like a donkey
I would like to say I've been doing UA-cam for 7 years but it wasn't consistent
How do I revive my channel I mean like get the defibrillators and zap it
Thanks for having us 🙏🏼🙏🏽
So cool seeing you guys on the other side of the table 🫶🏻
my goats
An honor!
love ya'll! absolute legends!
This was editing gold !!!
10:21 it didn't ruin the magic, it makes it even more magical, this is what good editing and storytelling is all about! :)
Creating a storyline in my slower videos has been my biggest task! I’m slowly getting there! This will help❤️
U did that pun on purpose I like it
32:35 “jimmy u no is a different beast “
Puns late @ night are a vibe
Hillier please like if u see (105% retention from me)
Whoever edited this episode would have had real-time coaching to edit this episode
I absolutely love videos like this where you've got essentially two groups of intellectual and creative equals and the interviewer/interviewee relationship flips back and forth. It makes me feel really invested, and it's great to see mutual respect and excitement at what they're talking about
7:50 best line, “sometimes jimmy is in a good place and restaurant is in a bad place. Sometimes restaurant is in a bad place and Jimmy is in a good place.” 😂
This is such a creative and refined approach to storytelling! Thanks for all the insights ✨
Hey partner! Glad you enjoyed it!
My introduction to editing and shooting UA-cam videos was for my boy Chris Bossio for nearly two years. Best training I could ever ask for and very underrated.
Great video fellas 🎥🔥🔥
Such an incredible conversation gentlemen. This is a corner of the internet where I feel like I belong and can truly relate to almost every single thing being said. Thanks for this one 🙏🏻
I have that video saved and have gone back to watch it 3 times already and I know I’ll go back again. It’s a masterpiece of a behind the scenes piece of the biggest UA-camr ever. There’s so much emotion and the real passion that you see in Jimmy is just inspiring.
One of my favorite videos on the platform
I loved this Interview! the doc was crazy. also seeing jimmy in this old hallway was different
THIS VIDEO AND THE DOCUMENTARY WAS GOLD
What I found most inspiring, was how Colin and Samir could very easily flip the flow and interview you. I did not really understand documentary UA-cam before, but this inspired new projects on my mind. Glad I watched this video in the first hour, and have it cued up to watch again.
Truly loved watching this with the euphoria and having both of them have principles for editing as a group.
everytime I watch y'all, including colin and samir, I wanna get off my ass and make more videos, love it guys
They really did an excellent job conveying the suffocating feeling. I never even realized that was edited by Colin and Samir's team.
This is my favorite episode, I got so happy when you made the community post yesterday
Interesting call out Colin and Samir made about the future of creator economy editing about compensation changing. I work in traditional media unscripted but i have always had a huge love and interest in content creation and one of the things i think about when i toy around with the idea of wanting to edit for a content creator either on the side or even switching and doing full time. Is in fact the difference in compensation. Usually, what's considered small budget in traditional unscripted content is big budget for content creators. And big budget for unscripted traditional media is small budget for scripted traditional media (like Hollywood shows/movies), and pay rates reflect that. And it's completely understandable because unless you are getting into the A List tier of content creators. You're dealing with often solo creators/solo entrepreneurs who don't have a big company behind them or are just starting out with their own. So i think that's one thing that keeps traditional media Assistant Editors and Editors from coming in and trying the content creation world because for a lot of us it's tough to justify the pay cut needed to be taken to get into this world or are afraid to leave the worker protections the traditional media world provides. Especially when schedule flexibility working with the ever changing and highly fast paced world of content creation or a creators posting schedule. As well as overall amount of hours worked can be just as much or more than in traditional media at times. However, there can be a lot more creative freedom and satisfaction in the content creator world compared to traditional media where a lot of creative decisions are either made or overruled by execs in suits. It's all very fascinating and i love seeing this space evolve and mature.
Yoooo so glad u guys got the legends Colin and Samir !!!!!! The Beast video was a masterpiece !!!!This is freaking insane .... These guys are my biggest inspirations right now !! also fantastic Intro !!!!!
This is so valuable. I love getting to sit in and watch professionals talk shop. I think it is great to leave in as much as you think is clear. I am just starting to learn about this craft so I won't get everything. I will pick up what I can on this pass, and maybe come back later and watch again.
I also realized that the YT algorithm is more willing to suggest the 2-hour-long Mr. Beast video than the 17-minute Mr. Beast video because it knows I'm into podcasts and long-form content. It's great to learn that the content you make has to be the content you want to watch whether fast or slow paced.
I discovered them through that documentary. They have become my favorite creators since then.
Forever grateful for the incredible variety of editors you've had, traditional media, youtubers, they all show different facets of editing and it's also cool to see the commonalities between them!
This episode ALWAYS gets my creative juices flowing.
Thanks a lot for getting Colin and Samir on this show. I have been waiting for this
Glad YT recommended me this video. It was really interesting to listen about the backend of editing, especially Mr Beast documentary. Thank you!
I was so wrapped into this conversation that when the end credits rolled I was so disappointed. Great video
Your videos are always such a pleasure to watch , one of my favourate and it feels like an honour to have this free on UA-cam
this one left me starving in a good way
I could listen creative people talking creative stuff all day long
this podcast is literally changing my life and the things ive learned while watching this channel has quite literally gotten me more work and boosted my reputation as a filmmaker/editor. thank you soooo much
respect from bottom of my heart for colin for respecting dishwasher
This documentary was my favorite video of 2022. I’m SO GLAD we got a breakdown of it.
One of the best UA-cam videos of last year, hands down!
Just wanted to say that I've been a fan of the podcast. Have watched every single one of them and got to learn many new things. 🙂
It's great to see how many common threads happen with different cuts and documentary tools to create power in the edits. Seeing how other creators break down their process helps show the practicality of "oh if they can do it I can do that too!"
It's also great to see what tools are specific to documentary makers that typical YT creators won't use, such as extended interviews and timelines and footage. Great episode!!
This tradeoff between editing for retention and editing as my creative vision is a huge struggle for me right now. I am always trying to cut my intro as much as I can and go straight to the content, but it hurts sometimes a lot, because I need to establish the mood and I need time to do it. Don't know how to solve it yet. Especially as a small creator. Anyway, thanks for the podcast, as always greatful for the amazing video. Love Colin and Samir and their creative work.
As I watched this clip, I was struck by the artistry and creativity that goes into creating a compelling documentary. Colin and Samir's attention to detail and storytelling techniques are truly remarkable. It's a testament to their skill and dedication as video editors. Watching this breakdown was a masterclass in the art of editing, and I'm grateful for the insights they shared. It's clear that they are passionate about their craft, and it shows in the quality of their work. Thank you for inspiring us all to strive for excellence in our own creative endeavors!
Colin, Samir, and Chris are the real deal. Could have talked to them for another two hours easily.
So happy you got Colin and Samir on podcast! This is awesome!
One of the most useful episodes yet!
What do you call it when your 2 fav podcasts of all time combine??? I can’t even describe the joy I’m feeling 🥰🥰🥰
Lots of great tips that we'll try to incorporate more and better in our videos!
Their editing method is interesting because there are lots of videos that tell you not to watch the entire video over again just because you made one cut but if I understood them correctly they did it to make sure the story still works with the change from start to finish.
I also incorrectly believed that when shooting interviews it had to stay in the order it was shot or else the audience might find it to be disingenuous and begin to wonder which parts can be believed but hearing why and when to move things around makes me more open to trying.
Yes! Hayden's editing breakdown is GOLD. I constantly go back to it before starting an edit if I haven't done one in a while.
This is the level of nerding out over the nitty-gritty of a piece that I’ve been craving since leaving film school. And perfect a piece to do it with. Absolutely right, this doc was one of most well made things on UA-cam in the past year.
The MrBeast doc is the kind of video that gives me hope that as the UA-cam audience matures there will be more space made on the platform for this kind of thoughtful, intentional storytelling. If these styles of video can find an audience consistently I think it will be a game-changer for the storytelling and media landscape. Traditional media just can compete with the nimbleness and flexibility of the UA-cam production model, but like the doc proves, talented UA-cam creators can complete with traditional media’s quality.
You all just made my day
I love your podcast and Colin and samir's - I will watch your tonight in few hours - thanks for the great content for us editors.

You guys are masterpieces. Thank you for the lecture !
I really need to learn story building in video editing... I admire you guys for being able to decipher the video material you get to create that bunch into a story.
The intro just felt so damn badass!!!!!!
Loved the documentary and loved this podcast💙
Thank you guys! This was really insightful conversation! Especially the part of center framing the eyes, and I thought we’re all going trough the same “aha”moments on the way!
This is dope. Love this content
Ohhhh man been waiting for this one!
The interview we’ve all been waiting for 🙌
I'm trying my best to work on bringing out the stories in my trips and regular viewers are responding positively with feedback but views are at an all time low...I just can't seem to work out what works. Editing is now so time-consuming that I find it hard to put out content. I've gone from weekly to sometimes once a month. Always great info in these podcasts, just recently discovered Colin and Samir. Lots to catch up on.
It's great to see dodford editing for you guys. he is so good and is a future next editor on UA-cam
amazing collab! love that C & S brought their editor into the conversation.
The editing of the documentary is really impressive! Also, lots of great advice on editing videos in this podcast, especially if you have your own UA-cam channel!
takes notes for future videos...
33:50 You've said it so well. That's exactly how it is when you guys post a new video :))
Great chat! Loved having my two favourite UA-cam channels coming together!
THe intro is fire
This channel has provided strides towards my development as an editor. I can’t thank y’all enough! Notification bell on since day one!
LOL. If Colin and Samir stop uploading as often, the Editing Podcast will save the day! Awesome content!
This comment is made out of love, I know how busy C&S are, and have full faith they're doing what's best for all of us!
Incredible Conversation. I am a one man show and would love having a video editor someday. Until Then I have to learn myself haha
Loving the breakdown of this
This episode was so good. Thank you to all the guys. Just wow
Love this!
another bangerrr 🔥🔥🔥 thank you for doing what you do fellas
Absolutely love this video
Another thank you!
Love your content chaps
Is editing, the meta narrative of internet creator. And like not different tiers of internet creators.
The ending of this episode was soooo good that I'm super sad that the conversation ended there hahaha I really like the conversations about the life of an editor, because there is a lack of that in the youtube, when we are trying to learn, we are always looking for tutorials of how to press buttons, but often not ready for how the industry works
AMAZING EPISODE, GENTS ❤
i love how they breakdown the thinking behind the editing
My favorite creators collaborating! Great video with so much great information ❤
I am struggling telling a story on youtube, can you do an episode talking about the hero's journey and if it will work on youtube?
It's funny: we didn't even notice how close OUR channel's genre has come to Colin and Samir's over time. Your interview with them made it clear, so - subscription added 🔔
