    I think it’s cool too how she’s always alone in her new videos; she does so many amazing things (she recently did a Louis Vuitton photo shoot, hangs out with Hailey Bieber, does magazine cover shoots), but she never shows any of that. Most you tubers would be filming that stuff like crazy, bu Emma only shows ordinary, relatable everyday activities. It’s really interesting and cool that she is so humble

    I think its also interesting how Emma can make and create such a personal relationship with the viewers, and personal content, whilst maintaining her personal life very private. It's like she said "you can come into my life, but i have boundaries to be respected" without having to say it, especially about her relationships, and the viewers/fans have respected that (there's always a rotten egg tho). I think thats one of the positive outcomes of her sharing emotional and phsycological journey, people dont feel like they need to attack her space. It's just very relatable to a huge amount of people and makes people like her to not feel like an outcast. She became a rolemodel in that sense.

    Another very important video C&S! 🙏🏻 I’m also realizing that community is a big part of the algorithm nowadays too. It’s why UA-cam uses your community as the first judge for whether to further promote or bury your new video. If die hard fans click and love, it’ll promote to your second string fans. And so on, until it gets to new viewers. So if we don’t honor our biggest fans in a new video, UA-cam cares about that.

      Within the bounds of their policies and the whims of the algorithm... Untill you get big enough that your momentum continues to drive traffic to your posts even if they are not optimised for the algorithm (the Mr Beast school of monetization maximization).

      Jimmy’s a genius businessman and he’s only going to keep getting smarter. He’s always focused on what is the best and fastest way to success. In his eyes, using only your personality as your only asset is inefficient. Like he mentioned, what if you’re depressed that week? Then your product suffers. Neither person is wrong here. Both “idea” and “personality” based creators have their positives and negatives. It all depends on who you are. The same way you and Emma also probably see what Mr. Beast does as insanely difficult, it’s where he thrives. Whereas if Jimmy did what Emma does, he’d probably collapse under emotional pressure. To me, different personality types are so interesting.

    • @Kooboto
      @Kooboto 2 роки тому +68

      I think weight described here reflects the risks and solutions to that problem. For Jimmy, it's an analytics problem. If a video doesn't perform, then the solution could be tweaking thumbnails or hiring more people for crazier stunts. But for someone like Emma, the risk is identity. If a video doesn't perform, there's no easy solution to the thought that your entire purpose in life is now in question.

    Being a personality-based creator seems like it'd have higher highs and lower lows - they have really strong fanbases, but I think they're also held to a higher standard, and are more prone to being cancelled. Also, Donda is excellent. The good thing about having too many tracks is that you can just skip the ones you don't like.

I tried tu push through it and upload, but it just took a bit too much out of me. If I find the strength, I'm gonna address it in one of my next videos. But yeah, that's something people need to realize is really happening and it's a fairly common thing if you're creating non stop. i’m left with the problem that i just started watching her videos and i loved the new ones and i really like watching her but now i want to watch more and the old format really doesn’t interest me that much. so i watch them in the background and do my things, like you would. but that’s also a change for the best - emma is reaching outside her bubble now. i’m a 34 woman in south america, i don’t relate to the relatable american teen things. but i do relate to the universal mundane things and she is encapsulating that so beautifully and melancholically, i’m here for it. :)

    I really need to work on my community. That really seems to me to be the mission of almost every brand today beyond even UA-cam, to inspire action in a group of people and what is a community other than a group of people who act in similar manner. A community can build you up but also cause you to fall apart if you no longer align with the groups ideals anymore.

    Very nicely put. Perhaps.. a middle ground in terms of being part 'Relationship' & part 'Idea' creator is the best way to go.personality. Easily said than done, but.. you can't just be one if you wanna do this for a while. Great video! Love this stuff!

    Love seeing these types of changes, I’m always telling people how to deal with mental and physical stress during the creator career. As a photographer and filmmaker, I feel like there is some responsibility on our niche to educated people since we are one of the education points of interests when it comes to making your videos look better, lighting your studio, sound, editing, taking and editing photos for your social platforms, how to use photoshop to make good thumbnails. So I hope to educate people on what it’s like to be a creative by showing them my journey.

    Also I think the reason why Emma’s change works is because it came from an authentic place. Some people try to change to chase a fad or drum up attention whereas her change originated from an authentic organic place inside. That transfers through and is always appreciated.

    I now see why Colin&Samir are so popular. Subscribed. I’ve watched several of your “creator profile” episodes and just love them. Your commentary …truly is …carefully thought out. For example in the first half of this video, i had no idea who Emma Chamberlain is…..the way you guys introduced her, her rise, then decline, then ….with that one clip from her podcast where she realizes she has no passions. Then decides editing video is her passion and pivots her content style. This is all so engaging and I REALLY connect with it as a creator myself going through the whole rollercoaster ride as everyone else. Maybe this statement summarizes why your interviews resonate so well: Its soooo comforting to realize even the most successful creators on YT struggle with the exact same issues I have. We all have. Thanks guys. Great content. Glad I found you.

    Which is stillness or “pause” where nothing much happens but you feel relaxed.

    I feel like this change in Emma's videos, knowing now that she's editing them herself with the info from the podcast, is her transition from content creator to director. That's why it's not off-putting to her fans. Her fans want to see her move up in her career, want to see her improve. We like Emma and her vision. Before she was almost like an actor in her own series, and now she's directing herself and her content.

    I can't get over how respectful you two are of emma and her fans. young girls are ridiculed for anything and everything they love. so many things are discredited as being 'for girls' or 'by girls' that I didn't realize how radical your positive attitude was until you made me wonder for the first time why i love emma so much. condescension
