Lemme see you do all that in a slip being shared with another boat! We love our Yamaha, but it's like trying to steer a floating basketball at slow speeds in tight areas...

Yamaha jet boat are the worse. Stay away. From owners perspective- after less than 3 hrs on 2024 dual engines - they got busted. And the dealer told us our 5 years warranty is useless

Also the dealer sold us a brand new boat with a huge chopped pc in the gelcoat in the compartment side. They did t disclose until we paid and they registered the boat. They were very rude about it
I try not to be overly critical, but dude, it's a jet drive. It's Always in gear.

first dock... fenders are on the wrong side...

lol...yeah I noticed the same thing...I think he planned to dock it on the starboard side but when he screwed that up he just let the tide push him to the port dock...
He made it so easy you did not even need the fenders,

Yamaha dealer sold us a Lemmon and on top very bad customer service
Back when I was a young single buck (mid 80's) I had a 19 ft Jet boat with a balanced and align bored Ford 460 V8 in an open stern that had been built to about 500 H.P....she would do about 80 MPH...she had a foot throttle just like a car and no "skeg", just the jet nozzle...to say she required a rather skilled driver at low speed was putting it mildly, but I was up to the task...not terribly user friendly but she was a blast, not to mention LOUD...I always had a cute girl in a bikini with me...ahh those were the days.

Thanks for this, I have a 2018 242ex and can see how getting the rpms up for a bump would help. Can you detail that process some more? I have the cruise function, but cant get it to set. Thanks

We purchased a brand new one a couple years ago. Horrible decision! If there is traffic at the boat launch you will be there all day!!! Totally uncontrollable especially competing against prop boats!!
Justin Durr I feel you; it happened to me transitioning from I/O to jet; try not to overpower, try to cut down a bit earlier. Pop it forward then in neutral a few times. At least it helped me at low speed while waiting in high traffic areas. Good luck!
has it got any better for you over time with practice? Does it get better? Cant decide if we should sell it or try again!

Practice sir. It's a mindset n a cinch. Cant compare an IO VS two jet drives.
Two words... Thrust Vectors. Install them and feel the difference. That and practice.
Please use "forward," "neutral," and "reverse." As there are no gears in the Yamaha jet drive when moving from forward to reverse the term "forward gear" or "reverse gear" do not apply. This is a small detail but people who don't know about the many advantages of a jet boat would benefit. The absence of gears reduces maintenance to near zero vs an I/O.

@@socalifone3044 I was going to add that they are in fact labeled Forward, Neutral, and Reverse based on the effect the throttles have on the boat. Saying gears is just an expression most people relate two... relax FFS.
